My Intro / Help with Choline

Hey all. Just wanted to introduce myself and I'll try to keep this relatively brief! I experienced my first lucid dream about a year or two ago. It was an absolutely incredible feeling realizing that I was dreaming because this occurred before I had any knowledge or understanding of what being lucid actually was about! I had no idea that such a thing was possible.

Fast forward to about two weeks ago, I had my second lucid dream. Now this is what really sparked my interest in attaining lucidity, practicing, etc, and made me take the process very seriously.

I just started taking Choline Bitartrate tablets last night for the first time and I will describe my experience which I ended up waking myself from because it was overwhelming and I didn't know what to expect. I want to try again tonight, but I want to do it right.

I went to sleep at 2 AM yesterday. I took the tablet as soon as I layed down and within five to ten minutes my feet were completely numb. I couldn't feel my sheets touching the majority of my body and slowly all of my limbs were going numb as well. I felt a tingling sensation all over and any sounds I could hear in my room, such as my ceiling fan, became more and more distant almost to the point of not being able to hear anything. During the entire experience my mind was very much conscious and fairly alert and awake. My breathing became more prominent as far as it being all I could hear and it was fairly loud.

My question is, had I not woke myself up, was I doing it right? And what should I expect or try to do this time around to possibly achieve lucidity or consciously enter a dream state? Any help is appreciated as I am about to go to bed shortly. Thanks!

      Welcome to DV!

Choline if I'm not mistaken should be taken with other supplements like Galantamine for the full effect of it. Not sure if it does much on its own... Anyways what you experienced is what you'd feel if you're trying to WILD. You'll enter SP and soon after that a dream. However, for this to work properly you need to have spent some time in REM already. When you're going to bed for the night you'll end up in light sleep, then deep sleep and a tiny amount of REM. For every cycle of approximately 100 minutes you'll spend more and more time in REM. That's why you should try it out during a WBTB (Wake Back To Bed) and it's when you wake up 4½ to 6 hours into sleep and stay up for a while. Then you'll succeed if you're doing it right

The second thing is that you should never take supplements two days in a row. The body builds up a tolerance quickly and you should definitely wait atleast 2-3 days before taking anything again. That way you know it's out of your system and you can enjoy the full effects of it every time. Look into Galantamine if you like, it's a pretty cool supplement.

If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask!

Great! Thanks for that info. Sounds like I'll wait a few days to try WBTB and take another Choline tablet. It was quite exhilarating last night, after I took the tablet, I immediately felt all of those effects again, I just couldn't seem to get in a dream, probably due to me falling asleep for the first time that night.

You really need to pick up some galantamine if you want to use choline. It's best used with wbtb. I don't know if it's galantamine or choline but one of them can keep you up all night if you don't fall asleep quick. Also you should be warned that the use of galantamine+choline can cause some crazy sleep paralysis.

Welcome to dreamviews by the way.

      Welcome to DreamViews!

I would think that you wouldn't metabolize the tablet that fast unless you did something other than swallow it. 5 - 10 minutes seems unlikely for significant effects.

I could see it working on your later dreaming experiences, and a WBTB seems like a good idea.

I just tried to reply and post but it didn't appear in the thread. Not sure if it didn't go through or went to your inbox.

Anyway- I assure you I began to feel effects within 5 minutes or so after swallowing the tablet. That is why I was so overwhelmed and woke up because I didn't expect to feel anything so quickly. Not to say I was paralyzed instantly, but after a few minutes of laying down my feet were definitely tingling and parts of my legs as well. My body and mind felt noticeably different though it is hard to explain. I will try WBTB tonight and post results tomorrow.

Also, to anyone recommending me Galantamine, I will most likely pick some up within the week. It blows me away when all I've heard is that Choline alone does very little and yet I definitely felt something.

I suspect Alyzarin would have a better knowledge of this subject. I'll ask her when she returns home later on today.

So, this just happened this morning. My first attempt with WBTB.

I went to sleep around 1 AM last night and set my phone to go off at 5:05 AM. I don't know if it was because I had been anticipating it, but I remember before I actually heard my phone alarm go off, I was thinking about it in my dream. Anyways, it starts ringing, I wake up, check my phone and grab a little candy bar to snack on. I sat in bed for about half an hour on DreamViews then took a Choline supplement and turned off my light.

At this point I noticeably didn't feel the effects I normally do. No spacey, weird feeling in my head, and no quick numbness. I had a hard time not feeling itchy and eventually I fell asleep with a slight numbness in my feet and hands but it was hardly anything. Who knows, maybe I just wanted to be convinced that they were numb.

So I had this non-lucid dream. I won't get too into it because it probably isn't appropriate but I will say there was some sexual stuff between me and a girl. During all of this, I hear her parents upstairs in their house/apartment/I don't know, so I think I should go. I tell her to go grab my pants and she leaves the room, and then next thing I notice...POOF! A pair of shorts appear on the floor.

I realize I'm dreaming, and immediately begin to spin around. Everything blurs and as I come to a halt, I find myself lying in bed. Now this is the confusing part. I don't know whether or not I dreamed part of this or it was entirely sleep paralysis. It may have been a couple seconds of a false awakening and then sleep paralysis but here's what happened.

I was lying on my side, completely paralyzed and I suppose I hallucinated a cat being by my bed. Now, I really have two cats but this one was orange and both of mine are black. I then thought I heard my Dad talking outside my room to someone (We live alone) about how he knew I had just had a lucid dream. I looked at the clock twice during all of this by the way and the time was 7:45 both times, so I knew I was awake.

It was very interesting, the only bummer was that once I snapped out of SP, it felt as if it were a distant dream versus something that had just happened ten minutes ago. Sorry for the huge post!

Hey Litt, welcome to Dreamviews! Sorry for the belated reply

Anyway, sounds like you did great for your first WBTB attempt! You got a short lucid which is awesome!I think after you realized you were lucid then you woke up and were still in SP. It also could have just been a dream...you never know.

Either way you are making progress and will start to have more lucids as you continue. The "distance" feeling after the dream is fairly normal when you are first starting out. It felt distant because the dream was short and probably pretty blurry. Once your lucids get longer and more vivid, it will feel more real! Good luck in the future

Remember that lucid dreaming is heavily influenced by your own beliefs. All supplements have some placebo effect, the more you believe in them the more they work. You can take sugar pills during a WBTB and get lucid. Now you know how effective a WBTB can be, don't lose faith in it! It's one of the easiest ways of getting lucid.

I will ATTEMPT to keep this post brief because if I begin to write what I just wrote in my journal, it may be the length of an essay. Up until now I've had four lucids. All of which have been extremely short, maybe ten to fifteen seconds or so after I realize I'm dreaming.

Now, I could began to try to convey this feeling I'm feeling at the moment, but I may wait until the end of this post. It gives me chills down my entire body and makes my eyes water just to think of what I just experienced not long ago.

I won't get into too many details of my dream for two reasons. One- my dream (non-lucid in which I became lucid and then traveling to three locations thereafter) had to have lasted about a half hour. A lot happened. I honestly can't say with certainty since I wasn't able to tell time, and really didn't try, but let's say it was a satisfying amount for my first non-instant-wake-up lucid. And two- I know it's not the most interesting or exciting thing to hear details of someone else's dream.

So here it goes. I went to take a nap at 5 PM today. I set my alarm for 6. I sat in bed for half an hour contemplating on whether I was even tired and next thing I know, I'm out. I'm then rudely awakened by my phone alarm in quick 30 minutes so I set it for another hour at 7. And then one more hour to 8.

Now in between waking up at 7 PM and then waking up the final time at 8 was when my lucid occurred. I'm assuming it had something to do with waking up every hour and going back to sleep as soon as I added an hour to my clock.

I will say this. I did everything in my power to continue the lucid experience and it worked perfectly. I remained calm. At any point my surroundings became blurry, I would then focus on them and notice the details around me. For example, at one point I was in a boutique shop, somewhere that resembled a store my girlfriend takes me. It went blurry and gray and I focused on a display of purses and bags. I really payed attention the detail of the bags and they became more vivid and real as did the rest of the store.

Everything I've read on this forum and elsewhere truly helped me out so much. I used the spinning technique to travel from one place to the next. I did this three times. Two of which took me to places my mind created without me knowing exactly where I'd end up. The third and final time took me to my local mall as I knew I wanted to go somewhere I had been in waking life and knew. It was the first place that came to mind.

I initially pinched myself as a reality check to realize that I was dreaming. The event in which made me even question my dream was the fact that I was at an airport and soldiers began to parachute from the sky. They looked as if they were in WWII uniforms and I immediately noticed the extreme impossibility.

I also summoned people as I pleased. At one point I thought to myself I wanted a girl there with me. Thinking she would just appear right in front of me was wrong. I looked around behind me to find nothing as well and then to my surprise, when I turned back around, there she was.

So this is my attempt at conveying what I really took from this. It's one thing to read this post without experiencing it for yourself because up until today that's all I've ever done. I just kept reading about others' experiences and what was possible while THEY had been lucid dreaming. And all of that is great, it really is. It will get you excited and want to be in their position, to see the kinds of things they saw. But it's another thing to actually be there. To be standing in this other reality and honestly get chills while thinking there is very little difference between this and waking life, if any. Because I took a moment to take it all in and thought that in my dream. You truly play god, and for someone as myself who isn't religious at all, I guess it's the closest thing to a spiritual experience though I hate to even call it that.

Wow, Litt! Seriously...congratulations. You have done great for just recently getting into it. Certainly a lot farther than most new people. You managed to stabilize the dream and really experience what a lucid is like. Props to you! I'm so glad Dreamviews was able to help you get lucid. It sounded like an amazing, vivid dream that you had good control over. This is just the beginning and you will start to get lucid more and more often. Whatever you're doing...keep it up! Like I said, if you run into any difficulty feel free to PM me. I would be happy to help. Congrats again
