Shucks, wanted to post bigger pics.

Anyway, my favorite US beer is Snake Dog IPA from Denver, and European is Šariš dark from Slovakia.

Oh I've already had that new Budweiser black crown. It reminds me of Yingling (spelling it horribly wrong).

Sam Adams baby, good ol Boston lager and the spring seasonal one. I forget what that flavor is called

Kasteel Tripel It's 11% and tastes a hell of a lot better than most beers with half it's ABV.

It's hard to believe that even people who drink Budweiser would try to claim it's "the best." It's not even the best corn-brewed industrial piss beer. It's less good than most cheaper regional U.S. schwill beers. It's not even good for the money. Not to say it's the worst mass market American beer; just powerfully mediocre.

But maybe you just love that it's union made Socialism triumphs again, eh? Eh?

I know. Honestly It's one of the few beers I will drink brewed in the US.

I wouldn't recommend it out of a bottle if you want the best experience, but if you can find it on tap it is so smooth and delicious

Maybe in some twisted way, he decided to create a thread that mimics local watering holes across the globe. Few options, and most of the time they suck. But the people are cool.

I dunno, I actually tried to make a beer poll to replace this one but I was going to go with types. You know, dark, amber and pale ale, IPA, bock, stout, hef, whit, etc. But I realized there aren't enough poll options.

I generally ignore IPAs because they're so unbalanced: HOPS!HOPS!HOPS! People like them because the flavor is instantly recognizable no matter how tone-deaf in the palette you might be, kind of like a California Cab Sauv. You get to feel like you know something about beer/wine without actually learning anything, which runs directly counter to the curiosity and affirmation of life's complexity and depth informing an actual aficionado's tastes. Don't get me wrong, you've got to start somewhere, but there is a bigger world out there.

Also, I'm definitely not saying there's no such thing as a good IPA. A friend gave me this bottle for my birthday:


It's a bit off center in that pic, but that's the 2012 Troubadour Magma, a Belgian triple IPA. The first taste was bland, but then it really opened up on the palette. I enjoyed it with a molé-spiced chorizo 'gumbo' I made the other day.

I actually don't have a favorite, but I do love a good IPA around beer 3 or 4 because then it starts to taste really, really good. If I drink it beer 1, the hops are a little overwhelming. To start with, I like either a good hef or amber. I tend to avoid darker brew because it upsets my stomach, but I did have an oatmeal stout once that made me cream my pants.

Those are my thoughts on IPA popularity, not on you as a person (about whom I know nothing). Would it be more respectful if I pulled my punches in case you're someone who takes things personally on the internet?

On topic, I've been drinking some Troeg brewery stuff recently, particularly the Troeginator Double Bock, which is damned tasty.
