I assume climbing up to the top would get you pretty elevated. That is until it finally breaks and you come down.

I have lived in a place with midnight sun all my life.
(couldn't find a picture of my hometown, so I found this instead.
It's another Norwegian "city" at night in the summertime.)

I was so used to midnight sun that when I went on vacation
to Spain for the first time, I thought it was weird that it got so dark at night

There was a crazy lightning storm here the other night:

      Full-Size

That red in the sky may look like haze from the vehicle tail lights, but that part of the sky was actually bright red. The sun was setting behind me, and the upper-level of the cloud cover left a glowing red hole in the sky. I wish I would have gotten some more lightning strikes in the picture, though. It was really going off!

      Sunshower, the day before:

      Full-Size

[Edit: Oh, and WDr, these are supposed to be pictures you took yourself. (unless you actually took That picture, in which case, well done...Lol...)]

True. Come to think of it, I think that's the first time I've ever actually photographed lightning before.

My buddy's serious, might-as-well-call-it-industrial-strength bike rack, from our ride today. Thunder/lightning storms came overhead, so we never got to swim at the springs, when we got there, but we got in a good 10 miles in the rain. Lol.

That's all I could deduce. I thought they were all automated though.

If that isn't the case, I am now expanding my job search to include lock master in what looks like a Norse country (judging only by that little lock masters house).

I saw a cool flash flood the other day. Before the downpour this was just a dry wash. It became quite a torrent.

According to Milotic's flaggy thingy, she's in Canuckstan, so I suppose the radio would be more like *creckle*creckle* "...tow-neener" (assuming the radio static also has a Canadian accent).

Monsieur, zee radio here vud be très différent in Québec...par e.g--just a little inside joke among us Québecois who work in the canal *static*static* "Écluse 8?" "Oui Gilbert. Comment ça va?" "...nous avons un 40ft "cow-boy" dans l'est." (if the boat owner is American and docks his boat on the west side of the lock) "Parfait. Merci beaucoup."

But I like your humour. Good day.

Most are automated now a days but the historical site I work at, the process is done manually (requires two people to open and close the gates as well as the sluices which is responsible for either decreasing or increasing the water flow to allow vessels to go upstream or downstream) the same way it was when it opened in the 1800s- except for some bridges which are automated. I thought it was great for my first ever summer job and I would highly recommend it if you enjoy working with people, like being outdoors, and don't mind repetition.

I can't even...I've lost count of how many times I've turned the handle above But yeah, this only applies if the place you want to work at operates manually. But hey, it's a good arm workout.
