Question Are there any visualization pro's here?

I just had a question. When we visualize, are we capable of getting to a point of actually being able to see a place at the back of our eyelids? (Like hypnagogia but much more intensified.) I like to do visual type meditation and i know alot of affirmative ways to alter myself.

      EDIT:
I just thought of something else i wanted to know. with affirmations, or self hypnosis, what am i supposed to visualize? (Or in metaphor, where am i supposed to be when saying affirmations.)
I would like to know a few meditation techniques where you say your own affirmations. (Aka Mantras.)

      I suck at visualization. Seriously.

I have tried to get them to work for years though, i have found that my most intense visualizations could be labeled as hallucinations instead. Because, those are the ones i am not consciously in control of. The most intense flash of VIVID. i mean EXTREMELY VIVID imagery happened one time while listening to "Delta brainwaves" (If i recall correctly)

I tried visualizing myself as an Assassin. A nice assassin with exotic clothes. What happened was that the imagery became alive, and my subconscious added extremely vivid details: The assassin now had a freaky facemask, two gigantic swords, it was standing near the edge of the grand canyon and everything was in high definition. Seriously it was so detailed it startled me awake.

I think if you practice visualization over a long period of time and especially focus on holding the images for as long as possible (rather than throwing in random thoughts that distract you) should result in great improvements of this skill over time. With practice you should be able to see things in greater detail, which naturally will vary from person to person. (I am certainly no pro btw, so it would be great to hear from others too )

About the affirmations, I am not sure if you mean to change your personality or to become lucid. At any rate, visualizing the end result of whatever you are trying to accomplish is best.

Im pretty good and visualization. I can visualize pretty clearly but it still is just visualization i dont think anybody can visualize even near as clearly as in dreams. I dont even have to close my eyes to visualize but i think most people find it as easy. Sometimes when im in bus looking from window i visualize what the place would have looked in history and i would say i can see it pretty clearly. Its little etertaining and useful skill in life. I have began to notice we can also visualize sense of touch but it isnt very clear.

Whenever an image arises in the mind, this image may come from the visual sense via the eyes, or it may be constructed mentally. If you are fully awake, then your senses will be too, and an image will be sent from the eyes to the brain (and the mind).

This does not prevent you from constructing another image with your mind at the same time. But constructing this image will not make the signal from the eyes go away. You can dampen the signal from the eyes by closing these, so less light makes its way to your brain, but some signal will remain.

The main task of visualizing is to focus your mind on the image constructed in your mind to the exclusion of the signal from the eyes. This will, for most people, mean hard work. Training your mind to concentrate on anything is generally difficult - but extremely rewarding!

Another difficulty may lie in generating the mental image out of nothing. Not everbody has an equally easy time doing this. For me it is easy to imagine sights, sounds, and touch, but it is very difficult to imagine smells, and tastes are also difficult for me. Everyone is different; we all have our own special abilities and disabilities. But everything may be improved with practice.

As to what you should be visualizing: success!

So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?
