      Smoothest Flying in a while

This is kind of a follow-up post about me having trouble flying. As background, my past several attempts at flying have either ended in me floating back down or not gaining enough momentum to lift off and stay in the air. So this is a short post of flying working for me again

I was walking through an outside area, perhaps a small town or park, and then realized I was dreaming. I then looked up, and it was a slightly dark blue sky, perhaps after the sun had set. I saw the moon in view, with several small stars around and in front of it, maybe a dozen of them. They also looked like glowing orbs, but I'm pretty sure they were some kind of stars lol. And the moon was close like it usually is when I'm lucid, and so it would take less than a minute to reach it if I few fast. Anyway, I then thought of flying up to see all this, and then instantaneously I was floating in the air effortlessly. My arms were at my sides, and I looked straight up and was flying and gaining speed as I flew up through the atmosphere. It was so vivid and beautiful that my jaw literally dropped, in my dream. The stars/orbs were so vibrant, and the moon was in full view ahead of me. However I soon woke up, probably because of my excitement or amazement of the sight in front of me. Next time I'll have to try to keep my cool and see if I can reach my destination.

I'll also try to remember this sensation of effortless floating and flying next time. Its odd because I hadn't had any previous thoughts about flying this quick and effortless, and yet it all came together in this dream.

Very cool! When I first started lucid dreaming, I also had trouble flying. I found that flying with "swimming" motions is easiest for me- because swimming is the closest thing to flying we humans will experience this day in age (other than in planes, of course!)

I find that "flapping" my arms like wings is the easiest way to get off of the ground. After that, I can just spread my arms out and fly.

Last night my flying was weird again, but I think it was because I was flying while the dream was destabilized. I got lucid just as the dream was ending, and so things were getting very transparent and 2D-like. I flew through a window out of a skyscraper without physically touching the window or intending to fly through it. The scenes around me were also looking 2D-ish. The city didn't look 3D and lacked depth perception, color, and detail. Then I entered a forest themed area. When I finally landed and the dream stabilized, I was on the ground being attacked by animals.

Hmm. I've always found it quite easy ad natural to fly in my LD's. I just leap off the ground and fly with my hands at my side. It's amazing

Jumping from heights also helps to gain flying!

Natural lucid dreamer eh. Lucky. I noticed that it says you astral project also. What methods do you use? I've been interested in trying recently.

In my youth (45 years ago), in the few LD's I had, that was how I did it. Just jumped into the air. Once or twice I ran up a short, steep hill and just kept climbing/gaining altitude thereafter. I remember one time needing to pull myself along power/telephone wires to propel myself forward when I had lost momentum. I was maybe 16 at the time. Now, 45 years later I've just had my first LD. Back then I had no idea what it was...it didn't even have a name (that I was aware of). Man, how the internet has changed so much of life!

Why don't you join the Deep Dreamers section? Astral Projection is not to be discussed on the Lucid threads :p

But pretty much I just WILD, and then, instead of focusing on LDing and falling asleep, I imagine that there is a hanging rope in my room, I grab to it, pull and I am out... or I just visualize my body floating, and bang... out from the meat suit I am!

Neo Neo, that is an awesome dream. Next time you realize your flying imagine the speed at which you want to fly, or a direction. Give your flight a purpose. It works for me. I fly a lot in my dreams, and usually very fast. I tend to be the only one in my dreams flying while others seem to not notice.

That's really cool Owtoty! I've never flapped my arms. I tend to move swiftly and fly low. It's weird, and so hard to explain.
