No one who cares/realizes the problem is in a place to do anything about it without really sticking their neck out, stepping on a lot of toes, or admitting they were wrong about something.

Hence the status quo.

Also, the bulk of comments on most well-written tutorials don't contribute anything meaningful, let alone reveal errors. This is especially true of well-written re-hashes of information everyone already takes as a given due to past tutorials.
