Unhappy heartbeat and WILD, how to overcome this hurdle?

Hi all, This is my first post on WILD.

I have been trying to wild a number of times recently and I keep finding that every time I feel like I'm drifting off to sleep, my heartbeat suddenly increases and this puts me off. I haven't even got to the paralysis stage yet because of this problem. Any thoughts?

Also when I say drifting off to sleep, I mean I realize I'm drifting off and this gets me exited and then I become too aware again.

I had the same problem when I tried WILD. I tried WILD a few times a few years ago and I had that problem...
The very first time it was extremely high, I was pretty afraid. But the more I practiced the calmer I got
After 2 attempts I was able to get to the paralysis, and after 10 attempts or so I was almost able to have an LD... but there was still an increased heartbeat rate, not because of fear anymore, but because of enthusiasm.
I stopped trying and paused for 2 years.
But yesterday I accidentally did WILD and didn't have the problem, and here's why:
I was very tired and sleepy, because it was 4 am in the morning and I've already slept 5 hours.
so WBTB works for me, maybe you should give it a go too
(I have to admit, I didn't have a lucid dream yesterday, but this was my closest WILD I've had so far)

Welcome ot WILD world of WILDing, hehe.

First, SP is not part of any lucid dreaming process. What's many times mistakenly called SP, are just normal sensations that we suddenly feel, when we pay attention how our body is falling asleep.

SP happens only after we start to dream, as a defense mechanism, so we don't act out our dreams.

Second, getting faster heartbeat and breathing is normal. Sometimes I notice it when deep inside the WILDing process. I either notice that my breathing changed by itself and it sounds and feels like when you watch someone who is asleep.

And sometimes, when I realize I'm so close to a LD, my hearbeat and breathing can speed up, either from excitement, or just by itself. Sometimes I watch my cats sleep and dream and I see same thing happening to them.

It's normal. All we need to do is to realize that, and try our best to stay cool and just go with it. Happy dreams.
