You're saying that all I need to do is to set a simple goal, "trust" myself, and not to "try" at all...
I apologize if this comes off as abrasive, but... I CAN'T FREAKING STAND THESE FREAKING "ANTI-TECHNIQUES"!!!
You know exactly what I'm talking about: "Just believe!," "Trust yourself," "DON'T TRY," "Take a break," "You're trying too hard!," etc.
They're broad, dubious, and they trick people into getting out of good habits that actually work and make sense. If a technique is really so easy and effective, then soon enough its reputation will become known and everyone would be doing it. Yet, this just isn't the case. Take Tholey and Laberge: both very skillful lucid dreamers who didn't start out as naturals. They had to earn their skill. They worked hard, and it took them a while to get good.
These anti-techniques are so popular because they are easy to carry out and because they make big claims of success. If this thread's technique is effective in any sense, then it's because it's actually an old technique disguised as a new one: autosuggestion--as already elaborated on by Laberge in EWLD.
"Nothing of value is free. Even the breath of life is purchased at birth only through gasping effort and pain." -Robert A. Heinlein
