Putting your hands over your head to achieve lucidity?

I found this long ago on this site and couldn't do it because it was to cold.

Now that is it very hot i can try to do this technique. You put your hands over your head while you sleep and apparently you can get lucid. has anyone tried this? Does it work?

      Thank you

I see no reason as to why this would work. The position your body is in, especially your arms which have nothing to do with your mind, shouldn't affect consciousness within a dream. My arms fall asleep if they're above my head, anyways.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Oddly enough, the only times I have had lucid experiences I have woken up and I was asleep with my arms over my head, only when i sleep sideways though. Like when you sleep on your arm wrong and when you wake up your arm is still completely asleep/numb and you can't feel anything, that's what happened to me. This could work, but I don't know why?

      its probably placebo :/
I could say the same thing about any time I sleep with my arms to my side, or sleeping on my side, anytime i have had an LD in any of those positions

      and I am in them

No lucidity last night i did notice a increase in dream vividness and the answer i've been looking for during lucid dreams through my higherself finally apeared clear as day 2 me but like i said i wasn't lucid so i couldn't retain the information. Did some research on hands and lucid dreaming last night and I ended up being taken to energy healing articles. I've posted one of them below. Energy in hands seems like a big topic, not sure if there is a correlation between lucid dreaming and healing energy hands but i want to find out through more experiments and personal trials Subtle Body Energies: Hands: Energy Transmitters - Spiritual Experiences and Spirituality

I seriously doubt anything will come of this experiment. I mean how can the position of your hands trigger a lucid? Many people get lucid without the hand position, so why would your hands being above your head trigger one? You may as well say sleeping with only one sock on at night will trigger a lucid. No one sleeps with one sock on, and neither has anyone done the hand thing.

By all means, try it out, I'm not saying you are incorrect or idiotic for trying this, I just struggle to see the reasoning behind this.

Arms over your head? Who could sleep like that? Maybe the pure uncomfortably factor might keep you semi-conscious enough to LD. Why not just put a clothespin on your big toe (joking)

Actually you have a great idea here! Having a slightly different pressure on an odd part of your body so when you are in a dream it will get your attention and queue you into the fact that your dreaming. You could then move the item (yet to be named and perfected) around so the body does not get used to it. Maybe we could use a weak clothespin but I will have to think on that. This is a good idea, thanks faceonmars!

You just have to remember to take them off before you go to work

If you mean trying to do this with your sleeping body, this would be a good way to induce OBE's, but I'm not sure about it increasing the chances of lucidity or not.

I do this all the time... doesn't work for me, unless you're talking about putting your hands on your face while you sleep, which I think would be pointless and uncomfortable.

Hmm, well, that makes one think.
You know how if you're trying to WILD etc, you lie down in a comfortable position? Maybe in this case, the uncomfortable position is key?
I mean, your mind will keep going back to the face that it wants to change position, therefore keeping it awake, whereas your body doesn't care too much, so it might just fall asleep.
Which, as you know results in Sleep Paralysis.

      Just a thought.

I think this would keep me from falling asleep. I need to be extremely comfortable to WILD. So comfortable, I forget all about my body.

i fall asleep like this often..and.. doesnt work for me.. but i think its one of those things that will get u concentrating more about being lucid as u fall asleep so ud be a lil more likely to be lucid. :/ if that makes sense..im so tired right now lol
