Your RC should not be done mindlessly. You have to actually question your reality before your RC. Remember, it's not the RC that's making you lucid, it's your awareness. I also like to approach DILD from new points of view. New (more efficient in my opinion) variations of DILD have been going around lately. like ADA and SAT. Also, you've been approaching MILD incorrectly. You don't have to stay still in MILD, it's WILD that you should be staying still in, and while doing MILD in the begining of your sleep is fine, it's best to do it after a WBTB.
Oh, and I forgot to mention DEILD. It's basicly an easier variation of WILD. Here you can read a guide of this technique
Finally, Lucid dreaming is something fun, somthing that you shouldn't get frustrated or sad about. Consider it a hobbit if you wish, but the most important thing is to not give up. Believe in yourself
