The minotaur is right, you are in control. In fact you're always in control, you just have to realize it.

Lol, it was just responding to your fear. Your emotions influence what happens next in a dream, they set the tone for what's to come. If you were happy to see him, I guarantee he wouldn't chase you. YOu don't need to control the minotaur directly, be in control of yourself.

So does that mean it's easier/more effective to control your emotions than it is to control or exert influence over a dream character?

      Interesting!
When he asked you why you are in control, you had confidence. You had the confidence of your waking mind, recognizing it is a dream and finally standing up against the minotaur.
Yet, due to the vividness of the dream, you started running when he chased you, trying to get you out of control. For the later dreams, your confidence was stained with the doubt of the previous failure.
Don't let that happen. It is a difficult concept, but confidence is the most important thing in dream control. Maybe loud autosuggestion or an amulet/symbol can help ypu stay strong here.

Instead of taking a step back, or completely standing still, next time you see him, go towards him. Give him a peaceful handshake.

To be honest, I'm not sure how to solve this. From a moral standpoint of view, I wouldn't necassarily fight him, from y psychological standpoint, I am not sure.
Let's see how this develops, but make sure you ask him more questions, especially about "his land" and why he blames you for entering it if he knew you had no control over it. Question his sanity, and look in his eyes.

Good luck, keep up the good work
You can see this from many perpectives, that's why it is so difficult to understand it. Only you can.

Keep asking it questions. It seems like you need to know more. Especially about the land. It seems like there are only two options now: talk it out, or kill the guy. In any case, I'm very interested, and will keep my eyes peeled on this thread. It seems you're progressing quite well and I want to see a happy ending to this. So keep updating us!

Sorry guys its been a while since my last update but I didnt have the dream again until last night. I did my best to take all the advice you all gave me. I went to sleep with the intention of talking calmly with the Minotaur, I meditated and prayed before I went to sleep but that wasnt really a change since Ive been doing that for years now.

I was lucid from the first moment of the dream again. I saw the Minotaur and asked as calmly as I could "who are you?" and once again he just charged me. I didnt run this time, instead I just stood there as he ran at me. I woke up after a few seconds of him pounding the crap out of me.

Also I have a question for you guys. Do any of you ever feel pain in your dreams? my friend says hes never felt pain before and that he didnt think it was possible but I swear I felt some of the worst pain ever as the Minotaur was pounding away at me.

1 more thing, I was in a car accident yesterday afternoon. It was very bad. I pulled into an intersection when I shouldnt have and got rammed on the drivers side by a big rig going 55 mph. I seriously dont know how I didnt die. Not only didnt I die but id walked away without a scratch on me and I wasnt even sore this morning. Could a crazy event such as this have an effect on my dreams? Just wondering of anyone has a similar story and some opinions.

      Thanks

Some people can feel pain in dreams, I think it's an advanced thing.

Also, have you tried flying and dodging? just because you want to talk to it doesn't mean you need to be beat to a pulp if he doesn't get the message or want to listen.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, Try to negotiate, but be ready to dodge at a moments notice if he charges.

      hope I'm helping.

I feel the truck smashing into you has something to do with the minotaur charging you, but I don't know what.

I am glad you are okay, Stryke!!!!

Actually, I felt the same thing, I just don't like saying things like that because I don't want to freak people out.

my feeling was more along the lines of the minotaur giving him a warning or something, to stay away I guess...

Wow! That's some crazy dreams. O_o I think I've had a few recurring dreams or dream scenes and characters before, but never like that.

I've kind of been having a similar problem actually, except not as extreme. Lately I can't seem to defeat enemies in my dreams, or at least not important ones. :< Just a few nights ago I had a lucid dream where I fought a giant robot by firing a laser at it but it only damaged them a bit. After I attacked the robot part of its legs and arms turned into blades. When the robot attacked me with the blades they only cut a little and hurt a teensy bit, but once I told myself it couldn't hurt me the pain stopped. In the end I flew away from them. Also, whenever I attack someone with fire they seem to be immune to it. -_-

Anways, I'm not sure if I can give that good of advice on defeating the minotaur. Perhaps if you learned how to not feel pain in your dreams then you could just let the minotaur attack you without waking up, wear a bunch of armor, maybe you could increase your speed and dodge his attacks and try to talk to him, or even just fly out of his reach. I think flying might work ok if you're good at that and the minotaur can't fly. Good luck!

Why did you get hit by the truck, Stryke? because you were not aware or lucid. I just realized the connection. This is a lesson to be more aware in waking life, and in dream life. My car got towed recently because I lost my waking life lucidity.

Don't use fire against robots. I suggest using blunt weapons, like hammers.

I used fire on Jafar from Aladin. :/ I used a laser beam to fight the robot; the laser did cut through the metal a little bit. I might try using a weapon next time I fight an enemy. Maybe my problem is that I'm not patient enough; I seem to run away from fights to soon without trying hard enough.

That sucks that it didnt work. Apparently this aggressor needs to know you aren't going to back down. Perhaps it needs to know you are powerful too and needs to work with you rather than assault you ever chance it gets.
I've read using what are basically concocted emotions in a dream can add power to your intention/expectation. Maybe you can use this to at least level the playing field. So feel that rage! After the Minotaur sees you also have great power it will respect/fear you and then you can begin to uncover information. You can even practice the emotion technique in waking life(using a memory helps) and once you know the feeling you can produce that in a dream.
I remember some of these dreams when enemies would attack and I would run. Once during such a dream, I tried to befriend this attacker by producing strong feelings of connection and joy with this enemy. It immediately turned from an onslaught to an idyllic scene from a Disney movie. This is something else you can try.

I wish I knew exactly what would work because I know how it feels. The fact is that you have to figure out how to conquer this in your own way. You need to know how to defeat this but you are the only one with the answer. Perhaps in the dream you can expect the answer to come or summon a weapon which you imagine will destroy it. However you overcome this obstacle, it will have to be you...ALONE....with the MINOTAUR!!! fun

Speaking of pain in dreams, that is one hell of an experience. I have experienced my greatest pleasures and pains in the dream world. Excruciating burns, agonizing pressure, being eaten alive and feeling it, being ripped apart, etc.. Then again, blissful warmth, endless love, depths of beauty ive never felt in waking life. All these things are possible because nothing is impossible in the dream. I wouldn't presume to know how to eliminate pain; however, eradicating all pain trivializes pleasure. Experiencing extreme pain or pleasure constantly in dreams is not healthy though.

And I thought I would end this note by adding another idea to the pile. You might try summoning a character to defend you. Whether its an entity or your own mind, just believing something can defend against this creature may help in keeping its aggression at bay.

      I wish you luck man!

I'm not a very good lucid dreamer- or even a good dreamer for that matter, but I was think about this and I think I have the counter. The next time when you have the dream, instead of waiting for him to charge you, imagine a door behind you. Inside of that door, imagine a room with a table and two chairs. Open the door and sit down. The Minotaur doesnt want you on his land, and in this situation- you arent. You will hopefully be able to finally talk with him now. He will hopefully go inside of the room and you can ask him for a seat and ask him the questions. I think the biggest thing about this dream is you dont want to be fearful of him. You were fearful before- and look where that got you.

I have an idea how to use archetypical/mythological tools to defeat the minotaur. Origins of fantasy race minotaurs lie on the myth of Minotaur of Crete. This minotaur lived inside labyrinth (nothing to do with my name) and was fed with Athenian youth to enforce king Minoses rule. There was a Athenian hero Theseus who defeated the minotaur.

My suggestion is that you use the original myth to defeat your antagonist. Research the myth so that it becomes familiar to you. Maybe some mythology books might help you. Then you can try to either summon Theseus to defeat Minotaur or call the archetypical story of Theseus from inside you and become Theseus yourself. It should work because on arcetypical level Theseus always slays the Minotaur. Time after time. You might even print a picture of Theseus killing the Minotaur and put in somewhere where you see it during waking hours. It should strenghten your subconscious. Summoning Theseus should be quiker way if you succeed in it. If you try call Theseus from inside you, you might end up to live and dream also other adventures of Theseus.

Minotaur archetype is quite old so it deals with "deep" levels of collective unconscious. Theriantrope (half man half animal) figures date back to oldest cave art and oldest journeys of shamans that have painted them. Some of them might be offsprings of shamans and animal spirits. Since shamans are master shapeshifters. Old greek legend of birth of Minotaur might be more recent version of shamanistic story. Resonance of your description gives me vibe of old things not just some computer graphic fantasy beast of modern time.

Why is this Minotaur invading your dream? My theory (feel free to reject it) is that it's somekind of refugee from it's own lands or dreamborn version of old myth that tries to find place to live and rule. Minotaur (archetypical) is a violent creture that governs it's lair (maze in the myth). This kind of creature doesn't ask if he can live in your dreams but it takes what it can by sheer power. It might be hard to communicate with it, but if you can find its motives it might not be impossible. Minotaur as an ally should be cool thing.

It was actually the same as it always was before I started having the dram while lucid... starts with me looking at the dirt, then the roaring, then the running, then waking up... The initial post in the thread states it all. I've been outta the game for a while so it might take a little while before I can start having that dream while lucid. I did however, manage to have a lucid last night. That was the first night I tried in a while and it was kinda like riding a bike. So im gonna keep attempting to have lucids every night and the next time I see the Minotaur we'll see what happens

Oh and one more thing just to keep everyone up to date. I thought about it for a little while and I took a liking to Lemons' idea about to room with the table an chairs to attempt a conversation. Didnt see the Minotaur last night but I did have a lucid so I summoned a door and it worked, when I opened the door it looked like the interrogation room from Law and Order: SVU(one fo my favorite shows). No one was inside, and none of the people I was with would step inside withe me. But at least I could summon the room, so I'll give it a shot next time I see the Minotaur

I really hope that works! That would be awesome if you could finally figure out why he kept appearing in your dreams.

Ok so I had the dream again last night but in a VERY different way (and not lucid). Anywho, im just gonna lay the dream out there and you guys can comment as you wish.

It starts off as usual, with me crouched down looking at the snow covered ground, holding some dirt in my hand. Then I looked up and saw the Minotaur. Normally he is standing and looking at me, but this time he didnt even notice me. Instead, he was facing away from me and he was kneeling down on both knees. He was also looking up at the moon. I heard him mumbling something but I couldnt make out what it was, for all I know it wasnt even a language I would understand.

Now I want to clarify that I am not lucid at any point in this dream, but I did know where I was. I dont know if that makes any sense lol. I knew I was in the forest where the Minotaur is, I knew that I was looking at the Minotaur that doesnt want me here, but I DIDNT know I was dreaming. I hope that makes sense.

Ok back to the dream. I knew that the Minotaur doesnt like me but I also realized that he hadnt noticed me, so I tried to stay still and not make any noise. I also noticed the feeling of a beaded rope in my hand, I would assume it was a rosary since thats the only beaded chain that I handle regularly but the beads were too close together to be a rosary (if you've ever held a rosary you would know what im talking about)

then I woke up... VERY different from the usual dream

What do you think the minotaur was doing? Praying to the Moon?

I use prayer beads like a rosary, but they are Buddhist beads. HAHA

You've mentioned the moon a few times, how does it appear in the dreams? Is it full or crescent?

I dont know what he was doing... could have been praying but it beats me. As for the beads, it might have been a mala... I used to use them every day a few years ago. Im not a buddhist Im catholic, but i used mala beads and mantra chanting as a form of meditation and a way of seeking enlightenment, not as prayer. I stopped doing this about 2-3 years ago so i didnt really think of it at first, but now that you mentioned it they probably were mala beads.

The moon is always full and bright. Im not sure exactly what the moon means but I havent really thought about it much because most (almost all) of my dreams take place at night or during the twilight. Ive always assumed this was because I prefer the night over the day, im just more comfortable that way, so I dont know if the moon really means anything.

Dude, Stryke, this is an incredible fight you're having with your subconscious. The mala beads... did they give you strength in your mediation? If they are suddenly showing up in your dream they could possibly be used as an anchor for your confidence with encountering the minotaur.

I'm rooting for you dude, I really hope you overcome this mental obstacle at night. Keep us updated!
