Communicating with the Dead using LDs

I had heard about yogis supposedly being able to preform this skill in the past. It is really in only about the last five years that my skills have reached a level where anything seems possible. However, I have never been close to anyone who died, until May when my father passed away. We had been very close and he was also very into Eastern thought.

I am not claiming these dreams I had represent true contact with my dad, but I wanted to share them with you all,,,

I welcome anyone to comment, or start a discussion on the topic. Again, I am not claiming these dreams are special or magical, but I personally feel they where contact.

I will tell you one reason why people you are close to, or anyone for a matter of fact that passed away and come to our dreams is the reason they do this is because they feel when they passed away they need to do the last few tasks left before they go in peace is to commune with you because they have or had a certain regret or is catching up on things that they didn't do with you in real life and they are doing it through dreams.
My dad passed away in April of this year, and since then not one dream of him, only because he died with no regrets about me. Now my Granddad i had a few dreams with him weeks after he passed away.

This is really interesting, because my grandfather came into my dreams unexpectedly just a few weeks after he passed away and said things to me that he could not say, or did not say when he was alive. The experience felt so real that I believe that it happened.

I learned that if you have that special gift and you practiced on using it, it is possible to communicate with the dead. I don't know how but I think not all has this privileged to that. And if you also opened your third eye then it's possible not just to talk to them but you can actually see them. Creepy.

You may have read in a previous post of mine about an experience I had.

I had an experience one night. I was in a room alone with a woman, I thought this woman was my nan who is very much alive. She looked like her and also spoke like her. Anyway this woman held my hands with my palms upward and said " I want you to check on your nan in the morning, please call her and make sure she's ok, look after her for me please". At this point I realised this wasn't my nan and from there I woke up. I wrote this down and went back to sleep. When I woke the next morning this really nagged on me, so I decided to call my mom. I explained it all to her and said "please call my nan, there's more to this than a dream!" She did call her and rang me back soon after. She said she had spoke to my nan and she seemed ok but when my mom explained to her what I had said my nan then said "ohh well my sister died last night around that time!!!!" My nan was trying to put on a brave face but then let it all out on the phone. I have never met my Nans sister yet she was the one that looked and spoke the same as my nan. My nan was shocked and thanked my for the comforting message and felt better knowing her sister was ok on the other side. Now if that's not convincing I don't know what it . I do astral travel and speak to others that have passed. I also lucid dream.

Huh, well, my grandmother claims that when someone she knows dies, the night of their death, they visit her in her dreams and say their last goodbyes. I've personally never experienced talking to dead family members, but I have talked to my cat. Though... she is alive, so I guess that doesn't really count. XD I also know someone who claims to see and speak with ghosts, but she learned to block them out because they freaked her out.

Thank you Gab. I had hoped (some 25ish years ago) that serious lucid dreaming would lead to more amazing things than just a virtual playground. These dreams were a true gift, and I can not give enough thanks for them.

My mother tells me that she has communicated with deceased pets in dreams. She is convinced a dog named Blondie truely visited her dreams for awhile after the dog died.

      I've had:

An experience with a dead dog.

An experience with a dead former roommate.

An experience with a child who apparently never lived but might have if things had been different.

None of these interpretations are 'provable', but I think there's something to them based on how they feel in relation to other more objective experiences.

Two nights ago I dreamed of someone who I haven't met. But it wasn't just one person, it was a whole crowd of slightly different versions of the same person, of different ages, interrelated. This is the kind of thing I'd dream instead of a particular dead person. These dreams are muddled though, not very clear. The 'crowd of people' metaphor isn't up to the job. Its like trying to see without having a suitable lens to see through. The eye and cerebral cortex took a billion years to evolve, a person can't invent such a thing on the fly. There's something always there right on the other side of curtain, but I don't know how to interpret it.

I'm sorry for your loss. And I have experienced the loss of a loved one also.
After my grandmother and grandfather died, I have had around 5 dreams of them, which I believe is them communicating with me. I wasn't lucid in any of these dreams, but they seemed different than my normal dreams as when the dream was concluding, they made an effort to give a heartfelt goodbye and everything was so real.
When I had my first OBE, my first thought was that I was dying and after I woke up... It led me to think the reason we see spirit like creatures or hear our name being called, is that we have floated into a space between the dead and the living.
Okay... I think I have came off as a bit crazy now haha

No, I don't think that's crazy at all.

Though the 'dream' part of the experience is pictures and images projected by your mind, I think its trying to represent something real that's harder to understand. I think this is where the 'astral projection is just a dream' partisans are missing a bit of logic. Yeah its a dream, but what inspired the dream.

You have a good point there, maybe the human brain isn't evolved enough to fully understand everything that's going on?

I had a LD once where I met my parents, both long gone. They appeared in the middle of the dream-bazaar I was browsing, even though I hadn't been thinking of them, and the schema I built had nothing to do with them. They appeared as they did when they met, over a decade before I was born. They held hands and were smiling broadly. We fell into a warm embrace for a moment, said nothing at all, and then, after my father lifted his hand from my shoulder, they faded away. I tried to resume my dream, but I was feeling so euphoric that I simply abandoned lucidity and woke later, with warmth in my heart.

It was a real "you had to be there" moment, which is why I didn't share it last year, and I make no claims that I met my actual dead parents. But for some reason I felt like sharing.

      Hi,

I believe loves ones from the other side that has recently past still have a some time to "hang around" and make themselves known in different ways to the loved ones on the earthly side. It may happen in dreams or any way that they can communicate. I also have the feeling that anyone on the "other side" actually knows what you are thinking at any moment in time. So I have found that in order to communicate, it doesn't have to be that complicated - simply deeply desire to connect and in one way or another I believe it will happen. It makes sense that when our mind is clear from all the mind chatter that we have when we are awake it's easier to get through, like when we are asleep and in deep meditation. Just a few thoughts.

This isn't a dream, but... Maybe it was a waking dream of the future?

There are some things that just can't be explained or rationalized. Here's one. Back in 1979 when I did a lot of psychedelics, I had a vision one night. We were at a reservoir, it was past midnight on an amazingly calm and clear summer night with a full moon. I'm watching the moon and stars dance in reflection in the water when suddenly I'm in a hospital room and my dad's lying in a hospital bed with a ventilator. His eyes open wide, he spasms and I knew he was dead. My mom was sitting in a chair and my sister was standing behind the chair. Fast forward 20 years to 1999. It happened. Exactly like that vision. Mom and sis, dad and ventilator, the look in his eyes, the pattern on his hospital gown.

Driving home from the hospital I couldn't get it out of my mind. I was stunned. What I thought was just a very vivid hallucination 20 years earlier seemed to be something else entirely. Something I can't explain. It wasn't just close. It was almost 100% exact. The only real difference is in my vision I didn't remember holding his hand and how his grip tightened at the end.

So yeah, I don't dismiss any of this stuff.

I try to keep an open mind about all this stuff. I know science has many ways to explain these things away, but in my opinion the universe is a lot more mysterious than we can even begin to imagine. We've just barely scratched the surface. Sure, there's a lot of nonsense and scam artists out there, but there's also a lot of truly bizarre stuff I don't think can be easily dismissed.

Everything is interconnected. Time isn't what we think it is. Do we really know what energy/matter is? The really small pieces? And what the heck is consciousness? The Hard Problem isn't getting any easier. I'm still intrigued by Orch OR. Don't know how it's going to pan out, but it does seem to line up nicely with concepts of eastern philosophy. There's one youtube where Hameroff speculates dreams might be the product of quantum state before collapse. I don't know how valid some of his speculations are, but he's certainly sharp and an interesting speaker.

I'm also fascinated by some of the NDE accounts, especially Pam Reynold's NDE.

This is how I feel too. I had a crazy vivid vision bout a year ago where I saw myself going through my normal routine. I had this sixth sense, which I cannot describe really. It felt like I could feel randomness in my life. For every random event that happened, my universe gained another layer in another spatial dimension. After a certain point I had several dimension with multiple layers each in this mental mind space. Whenever I observed one of the random events, the dimension collapsed into one of layers, this layer becoming the way 'my' universe is. Essentially, my dream put into perspective quantum time, but I believe it is more than what we believe it to be. I can't quite put my finger on it, but while I was inside my dream, there was this certain sense of something else that happened when the layers collapsed. I wish I could induce the vision again..
Through my experience, became aware of my breath, then
Began to cultivate my art with the intention of the heart,
Started to use my sentences as reflections.
And what I saw was God was in all of us and we all come to be interconnected.
And all that was depended on all of us
And had effects like a domino when you let it.
Go with the flow, that the universe holds.

when i was younger i used to get obe experiences and very real dreams. I dreamed i was carrying my dad up the stairs a year before he passed, a year later i was carrying his coffin. I believed there was an afterlife re carnation before this all happened but i really haven't had a dream of my father visiting me in my dreams, ive had dreams of him but felt it was my conscious creating it i don't know what to think of it?

Both of my parents passed away in the last few years and I hope to see them in LDs so your posts give me hope. Thank you for sharing.

I'm new to LDing and have had only a few but I hope to see my parents again so these posts give me hope. I find it fascinating you astral travel and LD; it seems like a lot of people who LD believe AT is just another form of LDing...I hope it's different and I hope to AT at some point. Thanks for your post.
