Lucid Urth: Shared Dream RPG

I introduce you to a new Shared Dream RPG:

Lucid Urth

FAQ's:

Who can play?
Any dreamer may play. I suggest you learn dream control at the level where you can teleport/dream travel at will to any location on Earth first. You do not have to be lucid to play.

What is a Shared Dream RPG?
This is a role playing game modeled after MMORPG's where your character has a home. The way it works is you incubate your tasks during the day, just like the Task of the Month, and try to do it in your dream. Then you write it down the next morning and publish it to your DJ. You will be awarded titles as you complete quests. More importantly you will cumulatively build your character, as you modify and decorate your dwelling, which will increase the bond to the place, and increase time dilation. The eventual goal is to induce serial group shared dreaming by people going to the same place over and over again.

Where is the game played on the Dream Plane?
The game is on Dream Earth, where you probably have most of your dreams, which some call Urth. The hub of the game is Lucid City, Neo-Honolulu which is on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean. All quests begin in Lucid City.

When?
You can move into Lucid City whenever you want, which is your first quest. I will be posting Quests in the Dreamwalker Forum. For access, send me a PM.

Why?
For epic fun.

How can I do this?
The game will be easy at first, and as you increase your skills, you will have more and more challenging tasks. Incubate the dreams while you are awake, and you will eventually dream of Lucid City.

What are the unique features of the game?

-it's a game you play 100% in your dreams.

-it's free.

-shared serial group dreaming induction.

-multi-genre

your own home in Lucid City you return to dream after dream.

-unique profession/classes/races

-power restriction. For those dreamers with godlike powers, you will confine your powers to a set of rules in order to make the game feel more "real." Example, if you want to become a baker, Instead of simply summoning bread and handing it to people, you will actually grow wheat, harvest it, process it, bake it, set up a shop, and serve it. This could take a series of dreams to do. This will increase your sense of touch, taste, and smell in dreams, which makes it feel more real, and helps you stay in the dream longer.

-unique professions. In Lucid City, at it's inception, there will be only one dreamer that can be the Barkeep, only one that can be the Baker, only one Blacksmith, Only one Steedmaster, for example. So, if you are the Barista, for example, you try to stay in the bar in your dream as long as you can when you do your Profession Quests, and hopefully other dreamers will stop in for a coffee or Lucidi-Tea, and you will be there serving them.

-time dilation through the "do nothing" technique. You know when your friend asks you what you did yesterday, and you say, "Nothing." Doing such in your dreams will help you stay in one play for a long time, which will dilate dream time, and increase the chance of shared dreaming.

Learning Curve For beginner dreamers, I am making this as easy as possible to begin playing the game. You will learn basic skills and meet your dream guide. As your skills increase, you will continue to be challenged as you gain power.

Pet Classes!:
Familiars A small beast you will tame that will fight by your side, such as a wolf, hawk, cockatrice, or goat.

Automatons A mechanical creation that runs on steam with a clocklike brain that will fight by your side.

Steeds You will tame a steed to ride such as a horse, bear, zebra, dragon, or giant rabbit.

Spaceships Everyone may do a spaceship quests which is great for protecting oneself from dream parasites as you travel through wormholes, and for traveling to other planets.

"Hanging Out" in dreams We will create dream hangouts such as coffeeshops, tea houses, bars, dance clubs to increase the chance of shared dreaming.

Events Seasonal and Monthly events will stimulate your imagination and help incubate the dream.

Religion You may choose a religion in Lucid City, and create a temple for your religion if there is not one there, even becoming a priest of your faith. At the moment there is a Temple of Gawn unto Gawn, the Dream Warrior Master, and a Temple of Khaos, unto Eris in Lucid City.

In-Dream Meditation You will meditate in front of your Dream Shrine you create in your apartment. This will increase time dilation, and increase the chance of you meeting your dream guide.

Serial Dreaming There will be an ongoing storyline played out in your dreams.

Persistent World Lucid City and Urth exist whether we are asleep or awake!

EPIC FUN I wholeheartedly believe that people will eventually have shared dreams after playing this game for awhile.

I am altering the profession idea. Anyone may become any profession. Instead of one person, there will be one place where all of the same profession meet, such as the one bakery, one blacksmith shop, one thieves' guild.

There already is. It's called Lucid Arena, and is in the heart of Lucid City. Fighting friends in dreams is fun if it's consensual.

UPDATE: I have expanded the Player's Compendium, which is a series of threads in the Dreamwalkers Forum with detailed descriptions of races, classes, professions for creating your character.

Former Psyblade players may port their characters over from Denn to Lucid City.

I had a dream last night that I was on an airplane and I was blacking out from fright, and I kept feeling really sick and upset because I thought that I was being taken away from Nomad. I was not lucid at all, I thought it was real life. I told Nomad about the dream this morning and he told me that he had that dream and was taking me to Lucid City in his airplane with a bunch of other dreamers, and then I got upset and came up to the front where he was driving and told him I don't like flying in airplanes. LOL! I hope tomorrow night I can get to Lucid City without all the fear. LOL!

I had a non lucid dream last night that I was in a boutique looking at different outfits. I think that I was getting my character ready for Lucid Urth. I got really frustrated because I wanted to buy stuff but I had no money. I looked at a ladies pocket mirror with a pretty flower on it and it was $9.00 and I thought jeez this place is pricey...

I think that I got my pet... well inside of the boutique there was a wall full of all of the stuffed animals I ever had during my childhood, they all seemed alive and I picked out one of my first stuffed toys, a lemur named Lilly. A big green snake was grinning at me.

I am hoping to go there soon. Thought about it last night in a lucid, but the view of the mountains was amazing! I had to do a fly around and see the sights.

I tried this yesterday... It started as I was flying through tunnel as I often start my lucid dream. I flew out of the tunnel above ocean with big waves. It was night, but not totally dark. I was surrounded by strong energy field(aura). There was island in front of me, a few kilometers away. I flew at high speeds toward it. There was really high pyramid in the center of island, and at the top there was light shining. It was not classical pyramid it was slimmer than it should be with its height.
It looked like the island is covered by palm jungle... and in front of me there was big clif. I steered to side, so I flew besides cliff and above of the island's shoreline, a few tens of meters besides that cliff. After a few minutes of high speed flight there was something like small city made of skyscrapers, it looked like crystal growing on the shoreline. I was flying there and landed closeby. I remembered that I have to tune down my powers so I tried to lower my energy output. I'm not used to do that... my aura was dimming, but energy inside was growing, it was like I can't stop production, only output. For maybe minute I managed to switch off my aura completely, but then I exploded. I saw that as outside observer- it was as if nuclear weapon exploded. My body destroyed the city- broken structures were burning in front of me... and large chunk of jungle was also burning.
Pyramid in center remained unscattered. It was far enough and really massive. So I started to fly to pyramid. I was point of consciousness, body less after explosion. I flew up and to pyramid. I saw that the light on top wasn't natural. It was strange, there was really hot lava visible on the top of pyramid, and some people were dancing around it. I directed my flight trajectory to that people... and I woke up before I came close to them.

Tried to get there last night. Pretty unstable dream. :/ Halfway there.

I am in my house. There is something wrong with my eyes. I keep trying to keep them open, but they keep closing. I was just in bed a second ago trying to get to sleep and I got out because? My mind blanks. I then here some noise outside. My vision gets a lot more clear. I then start looking through all the windows and using my mind reading ability. It is really delayed, but it works without having to see the person or even sense them, because it just takes the random thoughts in the air that are not mine and translates them. I try to look into the future a bit and realize that I am being blocked by something. My mind reading kicks in
"eye to eye contact, now I know he can see into the future and that is blocked, I just need to get in now."
I stop for a second. I need to slow down, this is a dream and I am treating it like it is way too real, if I am going to use all my dreaming powers, this guy has no chance, but I need to make sure I know that this is a dream. I close my eyes and calm myself. Lucid City... My mind thinks for one second I need to get there. More of the thoughts in the sky pop in and I know that he saw me when I looked in the garage for a second while the dream was forming. I open the door to my garage and I look out the window on my garage door. There is a figure too tall to be a man out there and I can sense dread as soon as I see him, I start opening the garage door, but I realize as soon as I hit it that I was being controlled. I slam the door to the garage shut and lock it. Why am I so afraid? I am dreaming, I can take this! Maybe I should just go to Lucid City. I lay down on my couch and close my eyes. My entire dream body is shaking. I calm it down and try to do a quick in dream WILD teleport. "All Around the Mullbery Tree" starts playing from a toy on the ground that wasn't there when I first laid down. I put my hand out and freeze the toy in time so that it doesn't get to "pop goes the weasel" Not relaxed enough to do that, lets do a different teleport I stand up and realize that it has gone from midday to midnight in the last few seconds. Probably one of his powers. I go into my bathroom and put my hand on the mirror. I am not great at phasing through mirrors since there is someone standing in my way on the other side, so I blur my vision and then take my hand off and put it back. It slides through. It feels just like you would imagine Neo did in the Matrix when reality was messing up, only this isn't spreading. I jump into the mirror and halfway through the mirror I get stuck, I start trying to push myself all the way through, but I realize that I am awake and in bed. :/

I couldn't get to sleep after this because of my cough and I felt way too awake. I tried to calm down since it was like 6, but I ended up just getting up for the day.

that was pretty amazing. next time you encounter a mirror, i suggest leaping right into it.

I only skimed through this thread for now cuz its time for me to go to bed. But i am very interested in this. I will get more details about how or where i should start. I already have a lucid city i go visit every night. And a house there. I think thats a start right? As for my character im more of the super hero type.lol but i will look more into what is legit here.

Also if there are any other threads that are of this one or discribes this thread more can you post the links here. so i have like a guide or somthing.lol thanks

I've been so bogged down with school work the past week, I haven't been able to even recall most of my dreams. I'll have to do some meditation and focus on getting there tonight.
