      Cay's Dreams

      Dream 1
I was in what I guess was an arcade with my brother, sister and mother. We were in a little room in the back for console games. My brother was playing Skyward Sword, which he claimed to have already beaten but was having some difficulty with it here. I started thinking about how nice it would be to have health and stamina potions for lucid dreams (because my dream body is often injured or feels fatigued, and that seems like a nice passive control solution), and lo and behold I became briefly lucid.

My focus at the time was the potions, though, so I took up two clear plastic cups with soda in them and turned the liquid red and green. I spent some time tasting and tweaking them both. In the end, the health potion tasted sort of sweet and warming, and the stamina potion tasted like Alka-Seltzer and Red Bull. During this time I'd wandered out into the pizza-parlor section of the arcade, and drawn some looks from the patrons as I paced along the rows of tables with my two cups of bright liquid. I caught the blatantly staring eyes of a young man and an older woman, probably his mother, and made a face, causing them to laugh and then look quickly away.

I headed back to the little room. At this point, my brother was trying to play Rocksmith, the game where you plug in a real electric guitar. The dream faded out a little bit, and we were in a store with a wall of amplifiers. I'm not sure who in our party wanted an amplifier, or for what purpose.

      Dream 2

I was male, maybe 14, tan, with freckles across my nose and short black hair, wearing a black turtleneck and jeans. I know this because I was constantly drifting into DO. My name was Brantley, and the other guy there, slightly older, paler, with hair a bit longer and disheveled, was named Dave...Dan...there was definitely a D. We'll go with Dave for our purposes. I took him for my cousin.

I was staying with my aunt because my parents were dead. The little suburban house was shut up against outside invaders, but there was a small balcony on the upper level where you could watch the neighborhood go to pieces. The streets were crawling with undead- I'd never, in all my zombie dreams seen this kind of density in a suburban area. I ducked back inside quickly.

Eventually I found a sort of distance developing between my cousin, aunt and I. I couldn't understand it. Then Dave held a gun to my head, and said that soon enough the disease would take me and then I might hurt his mom, so I'd best go quietly now. I didn't know what he was talking about- I didn't remember being bitten- but when I pulled up my pant leg, there it was, a pulsing, sappy black wound.

Saved by the bell! That's where my alarm went off.

I got up just long enough to write that bit down, but couldn't force myself to stay up the usual 1/2 hour for my WBTB.

      Dream 3

I rolled over, but my room was too unbearably hot to fall asleep, and there was noise outside. I got up and peered through the blinds. There were a dozen cars clustered in and around the drive. I had no idea what that could be about, it had to be 4 AM... I did a reality check, and sure enough it was a false awakening.

Once I was lucid, I really had no idea what to do. I thought about those dreamwalking techniques, and decided to go with "Use a door to make a portal to their dream". I grabbed the handle to my sister's closet, and tried to, I don't know, channel energy along my arm. There was a faint golden glow around the perimeter of the door. I took a deep breath. "NightSpy?" I opened the door.
My friend M.I. was crammed on top of the rack in the closet. "You're not NightSpy." "I'm not?" "Nope." "Get me down!" "Nope." I slammed the door. I repeated that same process over and over, each time trying to place more of that feeling, the sense of someone's energy into it, trying to believe that he was really there behind the door... and got more and more ridiculous results.

Eventually I switched names- "Windhover?" "Windhover?" "Windhover?" "Katsuno?" "Katsuno?" "Katsuno" "Ka- Leonard Nimoy?!" I think around the time Mr. Spock strode out of my closet, followed by Captain Kirk, both in dress uniform and both inhumanly tall, I lost lucidity. The first thing I did was hug Spock around his waist (as he was about 7'5"). He stiffly tousled my hair in what was no doubt a veiled attempt at removing me.

      Dream 4
I was in a car alongside a man who was an odd combination of my older brother and Tallahassee from Zombieland. We were circling a parking lot- looking for a new vehicle better suited to our purposes. We settled on an H2 lurking in the corner, and Tally jimmied the lock. He was- I don't know, hotwiring the car- and I was standing on the top, picking off any walkers who got too close.

The parking lot belonged to a superstore, like a Wal- or K- mart, and once Tally finished what he was doing we barrelled inside. Of course, the inside was full of zombies. I wasn't sure what we were doing in here, but we fought our way to the distant left of the store and a heavy door swung open for us.

We were inside what appeared to be an animal day care. There were a bunch of kittens and hamsters, I didn't see much else. Tally appeared to know the woman who ran the place. There was one other room connected to the main room, a small kitchen. There was a door there that led outside, and had a glass window. I looked out and saw a shuffling figure nearby. I dove out of sight and hissed "Lurkers!" to the next room. The older woman pulled a shotgun out of seemingly nowhere.

The figure on the other side of the glass turned the handle and opened the door. I sighed in relief- it wasn't a lurker- but then I realized there was something off about her. She had long black hair, and red lipstick and dress, but her skin had taken on an ashy green tint and the whites of her eyes were yellow. She was clutching something wrapped in white cloth. She placed it on the table and it started moving.

"Maude, I got a baby alligator! He's real hungry- give him everything we got!" she called in a shaky, excited voice to the old woman. "I don't want that thing snacking on kittens." "Oh, he's real friendly..." I had no idea what was wrong with the girl, but I decided it was time for Tally and I to GTFO so I grabbed his arm and dragged him outside. We were on the highway in the H2 when I woke up.
