Stay awhile and listen.
I shouldn't even categorize this as lucid. But technically it was an LD. I'm standing in the Freeman Hall elevator and something seems a little off. I do my RC and realize I'm dreaming, so I rub my hands together because thats supposed to "stabilize the dream." I immediately wake up. FML. However, I had a pretty funny dream later on last night. I was eating lunch in the dining hall with some people and decide I have to get to class. I go to the elevator, push the up button and look at what floor the elevator is on. Here's the thing about the elevators in Freeman Hall. If you value your life you do not go anywhere near those things. They are a death trap and you should only be on one if A. Your water just broke. or B. You have to shit and the turtle is already poking its head out. With that said, I'm watching the floor number go down and finally it gets to 1. Instead of stopping, it keeps going into the basement. I wonder whats going on and my question is answered when the floor number is replaced by a depth reading of how far the elevator is plummeting into the earth. Eventually it comes back up, except when the door opens, the elevator is literally ON ITS FUCKING SIDE and bouncing all over the place. I decide to take the stairs.
Kinda disturbing dream tonight during a nap. It started off relatively simple, I was exploring some large grassland like area and it slowly turns into the game Final Fantasy 7. I'm walking into different towns and talking to people. Slowly it turns back into reality and I'm part of this story about some guy who has become all powerful and hates the world or something. He's climbing to the top of one of those big metal power line towers at some point. I don't really know how it gets to this, but the most vivid part of the dream is me running to the edge of a cliff with this giant monster, kind of a giant spindly manlike thing, off to the side climbing down a power line tower, murdering countless people. I'm part of a huge mass of people who are frantically running around screaming, most of them are going the other way but I'm going in the direction of the monster because for some reason I know I have to get to the cliff behind him. He climbs to the bottom of the tower (slicing up people who happen to be hanging from the tower) and begins walking towards me. Luckily he focuses on smashing the people around me and I make it past him. Limbs are flying everywhere and the gore looks like the chopped bbq chicken we use for chicken tacos. I think I'm home free for the cliff, and suddenly he turns around and runs at me. I'm just about at the edge of the cliff but hes right behind me. I jump, and suddenly I turn my head in the head and his enormous face is on the edge of the cliff right behind me, and he lets out a huge burp. I think for some reason that this is supposed to kill me, and realizing I'm in a video game, I pause everything and save it. I then proceed to load other games, one that involves immediately getting vaporized by a beam of fire. Now the dream changes into me and my friend reading a book about the situation. We think this is amusing story and call my other friend over to show him. He does not find it as funny. I wake up. Just remembered another completely different dream I had. It involved our campus and my friend M. For some reason she is being pursued by a lynch mob and is hiding around campus. At various points during the dream we forget this and go out. At some poitn I believe we kissed. We decide to go to this show where we sit together relatively close to the front and I keep getting chosen to do things on stage. They tell me backstage that I'm supposed to play an impossibly stacked beer pong game and when I lose I'm supposed to get beaten (and actually hurt). I'm nervous but for some reason I decide to do it, wondering how the audience will react. However, the other guys suck at beer pong and just begin dropping the ball in my cups. Then by some wierd dream logic I find a technicality, do the same to them, and convince them I won the game. I forget where it goes from here, but I know I don't get beaten, so I guess all is well.

About a week into my journal keeping and reality checks I've had my first lucid dream. It happened during a 15 minute nap between classes today. Was sleeping in my dorm room and I had a dream about sitting on the other side of my room and talking to my roommates. They leave the room and suddenly I realize (with no apparant cause) that I'm actually in a dream. I say to myself the phrase I learned reading here recently, "I am lucid, the world is vivid" and crack my knuckles (my reality check) just to make sure. Since it's my first real lucid dream in a LONG time, I simply walk around my dorm room and observe the dream world. It seems much more like I'm floating than actually walking. I go into the next room and play with the door behind me via telekinesis. Works like a charm. I keep walking and when I look into the bathroom I begin to lose lucidity. I try spinning and turn the bathroom into a totally different room with brick walls. I explore around there a little bit and decide to look at my hands and feet. They do definitely look distorted. I walk back to where the dream started. I hear my roommates talking in the background and begin to wake up. I try to hang onto the dream but accidentally move my leg and become fully awake. Very proud of myself, going to try and have some more fun with it next time.
I've come up with a new reality check for myself. Since I often crack my knuckles out of habit, whenever I do it now I count the number of knuckles I crack and do a reality check. I had a conversation with a girl about doing mushrooms before going to bed last night. This reflected very much in my dreams when my group of friends who are usually straightedge (myself, not so much), came up with a whole bunch of shrooms and wanted to do them with me. I should have recognized this as a dream sign. Having never tried a psychedelic, I had no idea what it would be like. However I remember everything turning fuzzy and things changing in very slight ways. I remember focusing on a shoe and seeing it open up as if it was talking to me. I try to finish my studying (i had been studying a lot that night) but fail to get anything done. I have a false awakening and my friend begins to talk to me about increasing the increments of shrooms that we take. I find this funny because he's never even drank a beer before this point. Later on I have another dream about running around a school building trying to find a bathroom. I find this very challenging because all the bathrooms are completely disgusting. I think I've found a good toilet and then I realize there's blood all over the seat. I look at the one across from it, it has a little green stuff on it, but I wipe it off and use it. I remember parts of this building from other dreams I believe. I wake up.
On two separate occasions in my dream tonight she kissed me. I can vividly remember her face and her pretty blonde hair during the whole time, which is unsual for my dreams. Not going into names on the off chance that somebody I know reads this. It was a thoroughly enjoyable dream. At one point during the second part I actually realized I was dreaming for just a moment, because I realized it was too good to be true. Some reality check. I was actually upset to go lucid and let myself fall back into normal dreaming. The first time it happened we had been playing some game and the place we were in turned into a locker block where it was just her and I. We flirted for a bit and it finally happened. Second was in the elevator after we had gone to the gym with a group of people. I remember the walk back but that pales in comparison to the way she was all over me in the elevator, crazy about me. I remember not being able to get my lips wet enough for a good kiss though. This is because my mouth often dries out while I'm sleeping. This may have been the sign that made me realize I was dreaming.

My dreams are getting more vivid and i'm remembering more and more each time. Still no lucidity but I'll get there soon enough. I had taken a nap earlier in the night and I had a short dream where I was in the lounge with the loungeables. I remember the room being much bigger and having huge windows but I dont recognize the strangeness of it in the dream. I'm talking to them and B (i think) has to leave so he stands on his chair and suddenly shoots up through the roof like a rocket. He has the power to fly. I wonder if I can do the same. I stand on my chair and suddenly feel lighter as if I'm moving up. I turn around and its just sean tipping the chair and messing with me. Then D brings a bag of strawberry ice cream into the room. Not a box, a bag. Its pink and white, has the consistency of cotton candy, and is absolutely delicious. I remember the ice cream more vividly than anything. Everyone claws away at it and S criticizes me for having too much. Later last night when I actually went to sleep, I had some other interesting dreams. One involved getting a ticket from a cop with my dad in the car while driving around rt 130. Apparantly it is even worse than my reckless driving ticket and we have to walk with the cop through some mythical forest to get to the police station. I most specifically remember a big wooden door in what felt like a treehouse with plant life growing all over it. Later on I believe we are in some sort of video game. It seems to be me and the lounge people in what looks like a shooter. We keep replaying this one level where some tall mafia guy who we call don (and act like he's don pfirman even though he looks nothing like him) comes down in an elevator with a bunch of thugs and shoots everyone up with a machine gun. After failing a couple times I realize a giant tank up against the wall can be used. I get in the tank (which apparantly has flame throwers mounted on it) and when the elevator comes down I run the tank INTO the elevator (its very roomy in there) and more or less crush everyone. We win, everyone's happy. That's all I can remember.

Still non lucid, but last night's dream was all over the place. First thing I can remember is the carnival. See S, try to catch up with her. She goes on a ride in some wierd part of the carnival. I keep walking and go into a little room to use the bathroom or something. I realize there are windows on the wall and wonder if everyone can see me. Next thing i can remember im in some house that slightly resembles mine. For some reason I know M is out to get me and I have a distinct memory of her stabbing me to death at some point. So, i search for a knife to keep in my pocket. Im sneaking around, I find some knife from a long time ago, and hide it in my pocket. Later on I see her and somehow to prevent her from hurting me I turn into a vampire. This makes me super strong and I suddenly have the idea that Brian is out to get me. I attack him as a vampire. I cant really remember the fight. Then in the third part of the dream, its me B and S walking outside of a building somewhere. Were about to take an outside elevator to a beach on the rooftop, where everyone has apparantly turned into babies. It comes to my attention that we are also infants. B wants to see the adorable other people, but we decide to wait till were big again so we can just watch them. Last part, S chats with me on FB. But I realize I'm actually asleep. I try to respond but I know I'm not actually on my laptop. Finally I wake up.

I've had quite a few interesting dreams in my life but it would be ridiculous to try to dig deep into my past in search of patterns. So for this I'll just write down a few of my most distinctive dreams. Left Behind: The sad thing about nightmares is that they seem to stick more than a good dream. As a child the first dream I can remember involved me riding on a big wheel down the sidewalk alongside my mom in some unknown neighborhood. I turn around to see a car with the windows open and some stranger inside looking at me with a weird smile on his face. I turn to get my mom. She's suddenly very far away from me, continuing to walk down the sidewalk. I try to pedal and catch up but I'm going nowhere. I double take and the man is still looking at me. I look ahead and my mother is gone. Dream ends. The other nightmare I can remember from my childhood involves me and my sister dangling from a bridge with my parents above us and they can only save one of us. They save my sister. I fall into a river which for some reason has cars driving in it. Crazy stuff. Just the other night I had a relatively nice dream though. It culminated in an indescribably good feeling that accompanied reaching some sort of enlightenment involving God. In my dorm room I somehow reached the conclusion that the rapture was happening, whether I saw it on the news or something. I realized I had been left behind but then remembered that if I believed now, I should still be able to be saved. I work myself up into some sort of religious fervor and realize that I do know and love God after all and I accept Jesus as my savior. I feel some sort of ultimate happiness and I truly believe I am being taken to heaven. Then I wake up, feeling great. But I'm still an agnostic. Should the rapture come around some day I truly hope this is how it plays out, however. Anyway hopefully I'll be able to start remembering dreams better. I'm going to start a little mission to get myself to wake up without snooze every morning so that I can remember my dreams more vividly.
