    1. Spring Competition (Wed.)

by , 04-27-2017 at 03:12 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
So I was added to spellbee's competition on the 22nd, I believe. However, I didn't log onto DreamViews because final exams suck! And I should be updating this journal regardless of whether or not I'm in a competition, but I suppose now's a good time as any to start again! Anyway, here's a quick recap of the dreams I have recalled. I still have the messy midnight handwriting problem, though. -_-

      4/22-23 (Night):
      1. I was in some sort of cyberspace / virtual world. A person became a giant.
      2. I kept reawakening from this one. My family and I were at a nice hotel of sorts. I can't for the life of me tell if my dream journal says "waitresses" or "mattresses". But basically, someone spilled water and it either got the waitresses or mattresses wet. :O

      4/23 (Nap):
      1. This is what happens when you're sleep-deprived, which unfortunately was me due to final projects, portfolio work, and exams. While sitting at an uncomfortable wooden desk in the library, I allowed myself to fell asleep and went straight into REM/sleep paralysis. I was conscious of the fact that this was happening throughout the majority of it. My tulpa whispered into my ear and I could feel her breath. Didn't quite see her -- it was like a dream where the only senses were sound and touch. This all took place in about 10 minutes' time. It was really cool, albeit also a bit alarming because I realized just how much of a toll my current schedule is taking on my body. I should be getting a LOT more sleep for the remainder of this week.

      4/23-4/24 (Night):
      1. I was looking up song lyrics online, and apparently I had a virus or something because one of those "Hot Asian Girls Looking for Single Men" spam messages kept popping up. O.o My mom came in, and asked me if I was "pulling a [something involving a girl's name]" again. I had no idea what she was talking about. My brother defended me.
      2. I was watching some films in the animation theater at my university. Some characters included a whale-like creature and some Pokemon. It was really hot in there, but at least the film was really good until the end. They must've not finished editing it, because it was really patchy/choppy.

Afterwards, I had a computer graphics class with my old professor and just one other girl.

And no recall for the last few nights.

And that's it! So that's 4 non-lucid fragments = 2 points, and one WILD = 10 points for a total of 12! These WILDs are real, but they're also cheap. This one wasn't even all that vivid. :/ But hey, it's good considering how intense things have been for me in the waking world.

    2. Please don't stop the music

by , 01-31-2017 at 08:19 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
I remembered one dream fragment last night. YAY

I was walking towards an office building, and a little jingle was playing in the air. I'm not sure where it was coming from.

And despite around 7-7.5 solid hours of sleep, that's all I remember. Oh well.

    3. Splendid Competition Night #13, and a false awakening.

by , 01-29-2017 at 06:28 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
Dream Fragment 1: I was in a creepy house. I could sense a ghost, and it scared the crap out of me. I woke up and was still freaked for a second before I realized that it was just a dream. o_o

Full Non-Lucid Dream 2: Warning, this is a bit nsfw, but it's what happened and I was not in control. :p I was getting some groceries and talking with the cashier at Walmart, and we both agreed that everyone should just get free membership cards. Does Walmart even offer membership cards? xD There were a few people behind me -- an African American lady, an invisible lady (I could sense her presence, or something), and I think a few other women. One of them -- can't remember who precisely -- started doing something physical to me that would be rather inappropriate to mention on a public forum and which would most certainly not happen in a public setting, and my dream self rather enjoyed it. Wasn't enough to make me lucid though. The weird thing is, I doubt that I would have been attracted to any of those people in real life. They were pretty generic, standard Wally World people. THE PEOPLE OF WALMART! Dreams can make you horny, I suppose. o____O

Oh, and in that dream, I actually had a false awakening. Inside of my dream, I woke up, and thought "Hey, I remembered a dream!" and immediately began writing it down in my dream journal. I also have a vague memory of there being a Nutri Grain wrapper beside me, when in actuality I hardly ever eat inside of my room (too messy). And then I woke up for real, and was confused because I thought that I had already written it down in my journal, yet there was nothing on the page.

Dream Fragment 3 (NOT COUNTING): My last note reads "Idk I think a 3rd one but got lost on the Z" I don't know what this means. xD But it was definitely one of those moments where you know you almost remembered the dream, but it just narrowly escapes you. D: Hence, I'm not counting this for the sake of honesty.

I haven't had an LD in a while. Hopefully tonight will change that. But then again, this is first and foremost a process that requires time and hard work to achieve. So we will see how this all plays out. I'm really going to make the effort to make sleep more of a priority in my life, but we'll see if I can pull it off...
    4. Splendid Competition Night #12? I think?

by , 01-28-2017 at 07:33 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
I only remembered a tiny bit from last night.

Dream Fragment 1: There was a guy who played clarinet with the rest of us (I'm in the university band at my school, and we had rehearsal yesterday, so).

      Also a note that I couldn't read.

Dream Fragment 2: Something involving a snake. My notes were rather lacking last night. :')

And now I'm off to sleep for night 13!

    5. Splendid Competition Night 10

by , 01-26-2017 at 08:46 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
I'm actually going to go to bed in just a few minutes. It's almost 1 AM here. But yeah. I need to report on last night's dreaming.

Dream 1: (Non-Lucid Fragment) There was a swimming pool with swirling water. I remember that its floor and walls were comprised of white tiles. They had a pretty floral design on them.

Dream 2: (Non-Lucid Fragment) My aunt was in this dream. Which is fun because she is pretty cool. We were watching bluebirds flying free, or something.

Dream 3: (Non-Lucid Fragment) My notes from this one are so nonsensical...I'm just going to reproduce them. Nightmare lair, stolen item, [something I can't read] out, trying not to get choked etc. o_o

Dream 4: (Non-Lucid Full Dream) So, in this dream we (me and some others) were supposed to take something back from an evil demon ruler of some sort. This happened twice for some reason; I think we were either defeated or had to retreat the first time. At any rate, both times I was terrified.

A former co-worker of mine and some other guys were working hauling rocks. Funny because IRL he graduated with a degree in IT, so why would he be doing construction work? We slowly walked by them. I remember wanting to walk slowly to avoid combat -- not with them, but rather I wanted to put off having to confront the demon. The day was sunny and pretty, but it felt ominous. They were working in a sort of shaded picnic area, and we were following a trail that was leading up the mountain where the demon lived. We were still near the mountain's base. There was light green grass and dirt all around, and both evergreen and deciduous trees. Yet I was pretty much terrified beyond all reason throughout the duration of this one. However I thankfully woke up far before any combat happened!

      3 fragments; 1 full non-lucid.

      And that's it.
    6. Splendid Competition Nights 5-9

by , 01-25-2017 at 08:00 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
Nights 5 and 6 earned me zero points. No dream recall; no anything.

On one of these days (can't remember which), I experienced a very short WILD during a nap. It lasted about 3 minutes. During the dream, I tried to achieve my second competition goal of figure drawing (practicing a real life skill). While I was able to make a sketchbook appear, it was harder to make a model show up, and I tried to start sketching but I think I woke myself up. At any rate. I'm not going to count it this time, because I know that I can do better than that. I don't think it quite counts since I didn't really finish practicing the skill, like I didn't even finish a gesture drawing or anything.

      Night 7:
Non-Lucid Dream Fragment 1: This was from my hypnagogic imagery. It's always hard for me to wake up during those and write them down, because my body is in the process of falling asleep and doesn't want to stop! However, in this one, I was walking to a castle, with Tess.

Non-Lucid Dream Fragment 2: I was visiting an aquarium at a college. I believe it was either a) one I had previously visited IRL, or b) one that I thought I had visited IRL in the dream, but hadn't actually done so. There was a whale, and I can't read the rest of my notes. -_-

Non-Lucid Fragment 3: I was at a different version of my grandma's house, and a former uncle of mine was there. He either farted or fainted -- it's hard to read my handwriting dang it xD I think it was actually farted. And he was putting away some stuff in storage. The dream faded to a store/shop of some sort.

      Night 8:
Non-Lucid Dream Fragment 4: There was a Pokemon, a spider and something else that I wanted but that also creeped me out. Someone or something got lured into a corner.

Non-Lucid Dream Fragment 5: Theme park, roller coaster, talking with others at the stheme park.

Non-Lucid Dream Fragment 6: I was making love to an older (middle-aged?) woman. She was very pretty, and it was all in all a very pleasant experience, but I remember wishing that she could somehow be Tess, my tulpa, so I wouldn't feel so guilty about what I was doing.

Non-Lucid Dream Fragment 7: This one may gross you out. Just a fair warning haha. I fell in love with a lizard that was sticky and slimy. I need to stop spending so much time on DeviantART. It is dirtying up my subconscious mind. xD

Non-Lucid Dream Fragment 8: A group of shiny people were running away from something. Metallic shiny, I think? But I was "pinned down and safe." Nope, no idea what that meant. It made sense to me at the time of writing, obviously. Again, too much time on DeviantART. \o/

      Night 8:

Non-Lucid Full Dream: I was still a missionary (did it a few years back). It was our day off, and I was on the computer...watching a live dog??? Ah, I still can't read that line! Another missionary was online chatting (face to face!) with Adam Young from Owl City, and I started chatting too! Adam looked a lot younger, though, and he had a security guard with him. For whatever reason, he was in a rush, so he couldn't chat for long. But he was also very kind, as I'd expect him to be.

Night 9: Got nothing. I could've at least written down some hypnagogic stuff, but I was too exhausted. It's been a difficult start to the new semester, and I haven't been sleeping enough.

      Total: 1 WILD, 8 non-lucid fragments, 1 full non-lucid.

    7. Splendid Competition Night 1

by , 01-14-2017 at 07:22 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
      Well.

In waking life, I generally have neat handwriting. However, when writing in my dream journal in the middle of the night, I write messily. This time, it was largely illegible. I really need to fix that.

Slept about 7.5 hours last night.

      Dream 1:

During my hypnagogic imagery (so WILD I believe), I very quickly became lucid! I was standing in a green field. The dream was a bit hazy, and I forgot to demand clarity. I remembered my first goal for the three-step thingy, to use technology. I figured I'd use an iPad, and made one appear in my hands. For some reason, my hazy brain decided to use Numbers, and a spreadsheet appeared. Then I figured that that was pretty boring, and tried to boot up a racing game. I was able to play it for a few seconds, and then the dream faded and I woke up.

I wrote down some non-lucid dream fragments, but they were so messy that I can't read them. :/ Due to a lack of recall, I will only count the 2 that I can actually read:

      Dream (Fragment) 2:
I saw the Dark Mark, or something similar, on a piece of paper. I don't remember anything else.

      Dream (Fragment) 3:
My family had gotten cast out of...civilization? Our hometown? Can't remember, but I think it was out of some sort of fictional civilization that we had been living in. We were placed out into the bitter cold. And someone got bitten by something.

    8. Vague suggestions of lucidity.

by , 11-06-2016 at 05:12 PM (Awake to take in the view...)
A few days back, there were two nights in a row where I was having dreams like Inception or something. Essentially, I knew that I was dreaming, but then I would have false awakenings inside of the dream. So I would think that I was awake, but I was actually still sleeping.

In one particularly memorable dream, I was part of a laboratory experiment on sleeping. The idea was a bit absurd, now that I have my waking brain to analyze it: If I drank water during a dream, when I was thirsty, would I still be thirsty upon waking? I fell asleep inside of the dream, and took a nice long draught of water. I woke up inside the laboratory dream and found that no, I wasn't thirsty anymore! The scientists were all excited, and so was I. Then I woke up for real, and realized how cool that was. Unfortunately, I was still thirsty, so I took a drink of water for real.

Experiment result: If you are thirsty during a dream, you should just fall asleep inside of the dream, and drink water within that dream. xD Or just wake up and drink water for real.

In another dream, I think I knew I was dreaming and so I flew, but I wasn't conscious enough to think of anything more than that. -_-

Last night is a bit more hazy, and I have an insane amount of homework to do today so this will be a quick summary:

      - A little girl who was left behind on a haunted island (with spirits and such) finally got found, rescued, and reunited with her loved ones. I think that I helped her somehow, but I honestly don't remember. I had a degree of lucidity in that one.
      - Another dream happened where I became lucid while driving a car through some mountains. Decent amount of city around me. I was singing and thought it would be a brilliant idea to practice my singing voice in my dream, where nobody could hear me. However my logic wasn't working too well and for some reason I thought I was actually singing out loud and was going to wake up my roommates. This caused me to wake up and realize I wasn't. -_-
      - I was in some sort of theater, and asked everyone in the room something like, "Hey! Who here knows they're dreaming right now?" My brother was there, too. I was hoping that someone else would remember, or maybe there'd be a shared dream or something, but I honestly can't remember what anyone said...
      - I was watching some sort of advertisement, and there was this girl in a swimsuit who was sort of attractive except she had one of those gross spray-on tans.
      - I have a vague memory of some sort of romantic/sexual dream, but I sadly can't remember it. Maybe I'll have a continuation of that theme tonight? :O We will see. That would be awesome!

You know why this night was so successful, though? Affirmations plus sufficient sleep! The night before, I told myself I WILL lucid dream tonight, and I guess that determination worked its way into my subconscious. Plus Daylight Savings Time helped a TON. Woo!
    9. Odd stuff last night. But then again, when isn't it odd?

by , 09-26-2012 at 01:53 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
I wake up a lot during the night, which is actually quite nice for dream recall. This time, I remembered four dreams.

I need to get better paper to write my dreams on at night. Because writing it on my bookmark or inhaler box is rather inconvenient. -_-

Dream 1: This wasn't actually a full-blown REM dream. It occurred during the hypnagogic (is that the correct term?) stage, in which I generally have a bunch of random images, sounds, and so forth being broadcast into my mind.

All I remember is seeing this weird spiralish creature that looked like an old toy I used to have. Someone was telling me its name, and it was an odd name, though I can't remember it now. It looked very, very familiar to me in the dream, although I'm not sure why. Woke up shortly afterwards.

Dream 2: I honestly can't remember much about this dream other than I had it. It wasn't too far into the night. I think it involved a log ride, and the prevailing emotions were fear, apprehension, and excitement...but I might actually be mixing it up with an earlier dream. A lot of my dreams are about amusement park rides!

Dream 3: I was on the peak of a really high mountain with a bunch of relatives. This included my uncle, my mom, my dad, my aunt, and my grandma. It was really steep, the peak was small, and we were near a cliff on both sides. Some of us were sitting down, on rows of oddly-shaped rocks - cylindrical, strangely enough. Cylinders on their sides. Others were standing. I was sitting, and terrified that I was going to fall off of the mountain.

Someone - my dad? made a joke along the lines of, "Don't back up too far! You might fall off!" and for some odd reason, everyone except me found this funny.

Even though we were high up, my brain seemed to forget that, because I looked down in front of me and saw a beach. My cousins were playing in the water, which was an absolutely beautiful shade of turquoise. The waves crashed and traveled back and forth along the shoreline at the base of the mountain. I wish I had touched that water, to see what it felt like. If only I had become lucid.

Why all these family dreams lately? I think it's because as of late I've been slowly pulling myself out of my bubble of antisocial-ness and depression and starting to interact with them again. And trust them. But I'm not sure.

On the second part of this dream, there was some sort of transition into a new scene, and on the mountain there was a conveyor belt with a gutter on top of it. Basically, it was like a narrow open-top fish tank with a moving conveyor belt as the floor. For some reason, me and some kids were putting fish we had caught onto the conveyor belt-gutter thing.

One kid put in an anglerfish. My hand was still in the water with my fish, but he told me not to worry - the stinger had been removed. By the stinger, he meant the lure. I was really glad I wouldn't get stung but took my hand out anyway. (Funny considering IRL, anglerfish don't sting!) Some other kid had a shiny electric fish, which had little electric flashing white LED lights on it. xD All the fish were deep-sea fish. And they were pretty much all black. For some reason, the water in the conveyor belt-tank thing was starting to dry up, until the fish had hardly any water. It was odd and a bit sad, because the fish weren't too happy with what little water was left.

Dream 4: For whatever reason, I was back at college again, and classes were to start the next day. But it looked different. I was in a dorm-like building with a bunch of guys and girls in it - and oddly enough, I was feeling sad and homesick, missing my family. Which usually doesn't happen, even though I love my family. And more than that, I was scared. My head was filled with fear about the semester in front of me and it was very unpleasant. I was supposed to go to school for only part of the semester until I got called to my mission (it's church stuff) and then I would just drop my classes and go. I had a bed in the room, and a window view. I had a schedule for classes and (for whatever reason) breakfast/meals. I missed home and couldn't believe how stressful everything was going to be.

Needless to say, I was extremely relieved upon waking up. O_O

I had more dreams during the night; I'm sure of it. Unfortunately, I was often too tired to record them, and fell back asleep.
