Korley's Dream

Awake Non-Lucid Vivid

I'm standing on the edge of a lake. It's very sunny, and there are trees all around it. The water is still, like chilled steel. Over to one side there's a boat, but it's just a frame, made with logs. Two people are sitting on a log at the top front, someone's in the middle. They're calling me.

I jump into the lake and quickly swim across. I pull myself onto the lower logs, dripping wet, and jump from one to another until i'm in the middle of the boat. I stay crouched, waiting for what they have to say. The person next to me is my friend Rochelle, but I don't know the people above me. One's a girl and one's a boy. The girl's small with short brown hair and large, doe like eyes. The boy looks as though he's about to black out.

"We're doing an insurance scam." Says the girl. I frown, but keep listening. "We're faking his death and collecting the money."

Ok. I'm in on this.

I jump from the boat and land smoothly in the water. I see across the lake that my mum's here. Shit. I swim over and she hugs me. "Look at this place! Isn't is great?"

"Yeah mum, yeah it is. Really pretty. Now, you see, we're doing a scam for money. See that guy over there?" I point to a large man in a suit, on the shore of the lake. He looks like the type to con old people door to door. "We're scamming him. Alright? Don't ruin this, please."

"Hey! Cole! Get over here, we're about to leave!" Shouts the girl from the top of the boat. I get there and jump from log to log again until i'm in the middle. I catch a glimpse of a leapard, and freeze in fear. "It's ok," says the girl. "He won't touch you."

That is, until the leapard roars and jumps onto me, knocking me onto my back. It's front paws land on my shoulders and it's so heavy I can barely breathe. I try to knock it off me, throwing my head to the side incase it tries to bite me. But it snarls, and then leaps off. I lay panting for awhile, adrenaline coursing through me.

The boat moves. It sails to the edge of the lake, where it turns into a river. But the water flows uphill. We travel upwards. As we do, Rochelle turns to me and says "we're not really scamming y'know. We're taking him to hospital because he's injured."

I sigh in relief. The boat reaches the top, where there's a dark tunnel. There's suddenly a lot more people on the boat, and we all cling on, holding our breath in fear. It's almost pitch black, but my eyes adjust and I see we've travelled into a huge cavern. The boat stops in the middle and we all jump out into the icy, shadowy waters.

People laugh and splash about. I swim to the top of the cavern and turn to face everyone. I'm about to talk when suddenly the water jumps underneath me and i'm shot high into the air. I yell, i'm so high up. I wave my arms around but eventually as I drop back down, I clamp my arms to my sides and cut through the water smoothly, though I almost landed on top of someone.
