    *************************************
I will put in the box

the swish of a silk sari on a summer night,
fire from the nostrils of a Chinese dragon,
the tip of a tongue touching a tooth.

I will put in the box

a snowman with a rumbling belly
a sip of the bluest water from Lake Lucerene,
a leaping spark from an electric fish.

I will put into the box

three violet wishes spoken in Gujarati,
the last joke of an ancient uncle,
and the first smile of a baby.

I will put into the box

a fifth season and a black sun,
    a cowboy on a broomstick
and a witch on a white horse.

My box is fashioned from ice and gold and steel,
with stars on the lid and secrets in the corners.
Its hinges are the toe joints of dinosaurs.

I shall surf in my box
on the great high-rolling breakers of the wild Atlantic,
then wash ashore on a yellow beach
    the colour of the sun.

    1. Catching Apples Like A Boss

by , 05-29-2012 at 12:51 PM (Magic Box)
I am riding a bike down the road. It is starting to get dark, and I remember feeling very cold. I'm also starting to get tired from pedalling, so I slow down and eventually stop the bike. I get down, and drag it to the side of the road, where I gently lay it on the ground (there was no bike stand). I sit down on the ground beside it.

I notice that on the other side of the road is a riverbank, and I can hear the faint sound of running water. For a moment, I think about going over there and maybe try some waterbending, but I feel too lazy to get up. I look down and notice that my right shoe is untied, so I reach over to fix it. When I look back up, the riverbank is gone. Instead, I now see a massive church structure. It has a magnificent black facade, with dozens of colorful stained-glass windows. I also notice that it is now completely dark outside, the only illumination being the light coming from the church's windows.

I get up. Weird, I think. My bike's gone as well. I shrug it off and start walking towards the church.

The massive doors are closed, albeit unlocked. They are also quite grimy, mostly from being so old. I easily push them open and step inside.

Woah, this place is huge!, I notice. The inside of the church looks very old and unkempt. There is an altar at the far end of the hall, and where the pews should be, there's just a massive space. There are also a lot of green and orange leaves on the floor.

Out of nowhere, I start to smell apples. At first the scent is really faint like the leftover odor of dilute perfume, but a few seconds later, it starts to smell really strong, and my nose starts to itch.

I look down at my hands and notice that they're very dirty -- probably from pushing the doors which were covered in age-old dust. I clap my hands twice to get the dust off of them. *clapclap*

THOK! I hear something drop on the floor in front of me. I bend down too see it clearer. It's an apple!

I look up to the ceiling and see that it is fully covered with branches and leaves, and there are many apples hanging from them. I instantly get the urge to grab some, but they are far too high, there's no way I can reach them. Unless...

I clap my hands twice again. *clapclap*

THOK! An apple drops and hits me on the head, before falling on the ground. Oww, WTF!, I curse. It hurts a lot. I pick up the apple, and I think about taking it home with me. Eughh this one has a huge dent, probably from the impact when it fell.

Okay, you can do this, I mumble to myself. I look up and focus on one perfectly plump and red apple directly above me.

*clapclap*. Immediately, the apple falls. But this time I'm ready, I take a step back and put both my hands in front of me. PLOP. Perfect catch. I put it gently on the floor, while I try to catch more apples.

I walk around, looking up, trying to decide which apples look best so I can bring them home.

      Ahhh that one's nice! *clapclap*.
PLOP. Another perfect catch. Pffft, so easy.

I do this a few more times, inspecting each apple for dents or other imperfections, and throwing out any apples that don't meet my standards.

      *clapclap*. PLOP.
      *clapclap*. PLOP.
      *clapclap*. PLOP.

Soon enough, I have a bunch of perfectly plump and red apples stacked up on the floor. I look at them in delight and eagerness.

Okay, just a few more and I'll be on my way.

      *clapclap*... Huh?
      *clapclap*...

      Wait, why isn't it falling?
      *clapclap*... Still not falling...
      *CLAP-fvcking-CLAP*!!!
      Still nothing...

At this point I'm quite furious. I start clapping like crazy.

      *clapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclap
      clapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclap*

I don't know how exactly, but at some point in my clapping madness, the dream shifts. I'm still clapping though, apparently for some Asian boy band on a stage. But I can't quite remember what happens after this.

    2. Shikaka! Ace Ventura!

by , 05-18-2012 at 12:05 PM (Magic Box)
CONTINUATION TO Mr. Anubis (le click!)

It is very dark. I don't know where I am. I vaguely remember myself plunging to the ground, but beyond that, I can't seem to recall anything.

I reach out in front of me. Empty space.
I wave my arms around, trying to feel anything.
      But there is nothing there.

I start walking forward, arms extended. After a few seconds of walking blindly, I feel a flat, smooth object. I swipe my hand over it, and realize that it is a wall. I feel a small protrusion a few inches to the right. Ah, a light switch. I flip it.

A fluorescent bulb lights up the room.

I am surprised when I see Jim Carrey sitting on a chair in the far end of the room. He is wearing an orange Hawaiian shirt with floral print. His hair is perfectly coiffed upward, with a swirly end, like Jimmy Neutron's.

      I immediately think,"Ohh, it's Ace Ventura!"

He is sitting cross-legged, just staring at me, with a goofy grin.

It takes me a few moments to realize that he isn't moving at all. I take baby steps towards him, trying not to make a sound. He looks like a mannequin.

I am now standing in front of him. I wave my hand in his face. He doesn't blink.

I start to turn away when...

      "SHIKAKA!!"

He yells this so loudly and so unexpectedly that I am taken aback and I go, "Wh-? Ahh! This is a dream!"

I go lucid. I rub my hands and the surroundings become really vivid.

      "PSYCH!! You're dreaming! Nananananana batman!"

I smile when he says this. Nice, my DC knows it's a dream.

      "Can I leave?" I ask.

"Sure," he says, "Just do me a favor."

      "What?" I say.

"Can you summon Adam Levine?" he starts, "I need him... for... reasons."

      I laugh.

      "I'll try" I say.

I close my eyes and imagine Adam Levine materializing in front of me.

I open one eye to see, but it doesn't seem to be working.

"Try harder. Owowowowowowo!" Ace says, tapping his palm on his mouth repeatedly, like a Native Indian.

I close my eyes again, and try to summon Adam Levine once more.

While my eyes are closed, I start to see blobs of different colors. I also see patterns of lines and curves, forming different shapes I can't yet recognize.

I am so fascinated by them, that I just stare in awe. I start to forget what I was supposed to do in the first place.

As I enjoy the sights, I don't notice myself losing lucidity.

I end up drifting off into a couple on non-lucids, before I finally wake up to my alarm.

      -----------------------------------------

I shall forever spend my life walking the Earth, wondering what Ace Ventura would have done to (with?) Adam Levine if I had successfully summoned him.

I still remember the non-lucids I had after this, but I have decided not to journal them here... for... reasons.

      Haha. x)

    3. Mr. Anubis

by , 05-18-2012 at 12:00 PM (Magic Box)
I am walking home. It is sunset.

As I round the curb to my house, I see this Anubis creature standing outside the door, along with dozens of spear-holding men in tunics. Mr. Anubis is very tall, probably about 8 feet. He is also very macho, with glistening black skin and a canine head. He is in an Egyptian attire decked in gold blings.

I stop walking. His ears snap up.
      He sees me, and growls.

I have a moment of panic, but then I become lucid. The weird atmosphere is more noticeable. I do the noseplug and I can breathe. I then rub my hands, and the visuals become clearer (though still a bit hazy).

Mr. Macho Anubis is still there, and he starts to growl. The men start to march towards me in cadence. I can hear and feel their heavy footsteps on the ground. I close my eyes and try my best to make them disappear. I imagine them poofing off into oblivion.

It doesn't work. I open my eyes and they're still coming.
They're only a few feet away from me now. I decide to bolt.

I fly up and steer to the left, feeling relieved that I escaped.

Then, I hear a familiar growl behind me. I look back and see Mr. Macho Anubis flying after me! Holy $#!* this dog-man flies?! I fly a bit faster, but my control is crappy, and my pursuer is catching up. It is then that I decide to fly straight down and phase through the ground so he will lose track of me.

I see nothing but darkness as I am plummet through the earth. I have no idea where it is gonna lead me.

I end up in the void.

      Then I lose lucidity.

      TO BE CONTINUED...

      Shikaka! Ace Ventura! (Le click!)

      ---------------------

There are two parts to this dream, the second one I put in a different entry, since it has a somewhat different storyline. Also, to prevent this entry from being too long and dragging. :3

    4. The Beautiful Winged Man

by , 05-14-2012 at 12:34 PM (Magic Box)
      "Saab! Saab!"

I yell this over and over at the top of my lungs. I have no idea what it means.

Somehow, I feel very anxious about something. I look around me and see that I am at a wooden dock at the edge of a lake. I look at the water. It looks black and stagnant. It smells putrid too.

There is noone else in the area, and I can't see anything in the distance besides trees and shrubs in weird hypnotic colors. I try to look at them for a few seconds, but it hurts my eyes and it makes me feel dizzy so I look away, back at the lake.

      "Saab!", I yell again.

I hear the flapping of what seems to be a very large bird a few feet behind me. I turn around and see a man flying down towards the dock. Yes. He is flying. Or falling, descending, whichever.

The first thing that I notice are his wings. They are so huge and spread out to about four times the man's size. They are also silver in color, and somewhat shiny and glittery. I stand there, dumbfounded. He was beautiful.

As he lands on the wooden deck, it creaks beneath his weight. Then he gently folds his wings at his sides. He takes two steps forward.

The man doesn't seem to be wearing anything but a blue cloth around his waist. He isn't fat nor thin. He looks quite fit actually, and yes, hooray! He has abs.

It doesn't even register to me that he is another kind of being. At that moment, it feels perfectly normal to me.

What catches my attention is the fact that I can't see his face. There seems to be some bright white light emanating from it. I try to look, but it is too radiant. I put my hands over my eyes and whisper, "Saab?".

      "Mmhmm", he replies.

For some weird reason, I feel like I've known him for a long time. His voice is very deep, and it sounds very familiar and reassuring.

      "How've you been, Paigey?"

I don't know what to say to this strange man. I fall silent, hands in my face. I am slightly hypnotized by his tone, and I rack my brain, trying to think about where I've heard him before.

He then starts talking really fast in a different language. I don't know what language it is, but it doesn't seem to be something I know or something I've heard before.

"Adsujaybiowakaduwifudjyadhwier". Or something like that. (Close enough.)

Whatever he was saying, it sounded beautiful for some reason.

      "Whaaa?!," I say, frustrated.

I forget that I'm still covering my eyes. He grabs my wrists, and starts pulling them away from my face.

      "I said...", he whispers.

      "...look at me."

He lets go of my hands, and I contemplate in silence whether I should open my eyes or not.

      Then I decide to.

My eyes flutter open, but the beautiful winged man is no longer in sight. I look around, but he is nowhere to be found. I am alone once again.

I look back at the lake, and notice that the water is now crystal clear with some kind of bluish glow to it. I also notice that the place smells like apples.

The wooden dock suddenly starts trembling like crazy. I wobble, trying to keep my balance.

"Saab! Saab!," I find myself yelling over and over, before I finally wake up to my sister shaking the life out of me, trying to wake me up for school.

      --------------------------------------

The thing is, I don't know who the man was, nor do I know what he was. To others, he may be called an angel. I don't know. I am uncertain about their existence, but I'd like to keep an open mind. There are just some things I'd rather not question -- things that are too complicated for my little brain to comprehend. I don't know what the dream meant, but I'd like to hope that somewhere, somehow, there is a beautiful winged man watching over and protecting me. (And making sure I don't get my ass in trouble!)

      *Wow. So deep. LOL.*

    5. Lucid #18

by , 05-12-2012 at 01:15 AM (Magic Box)
I am in my house. I walk to the bathroom. As I get inside, I turn on the lights and see JP, an actor in my country. He looks at me, puzzled.

ME: "Wait... How... Woah! This is a dream!"

Almost immediately, everything turns extremely vivid, and I am aware that the atmosphere is quite different, I can't really describe it.

      JP: "Huh?"

      ME: "This is a dream!"

      JP: "Are you okay?"

ME: "Look, my hand will have 7 fingers."

I close my eyes for a few seconds, and imagine my left hand having 7 fingers. I put my hand up (they're playing my song, the butterflies fly away! lol). But there are only 5 fingers. Epic. Fail.

JP looks even more puzzled. I walk over to the light switch and flip it off and on a couple of times. It stays on no matter what I do.

      Me: "See?"

JP walks over to me and tries it himself. It still stays on. He tilts his head, considering it.

ME: "Do you believe me now? How else would I be able to do this?"

I look over to the toilet bowl and waterbend the clear liquid out of it. I twirl it in the air for a few seconds before waterbending it back into the bowl. JP looks amazed.

JP: "Wow!! But, how can this be a dream?!"

Suddenly I hear a loud BOOM! JP and I both stumble to the floor, and I am quite confused and disorientated.

I lose consciousness and end up drifting into a non-lucid of which I can't remember the storyline.

    6. Lucid at last!

by , 05-11-2012 at 05:04 AM (Magic Box)
I am feeling too tired. I have an hour to waste. I decide to take a nap.

I am climbing up towards a treehouse, and while I am going up the rope ladder, I realize it is taking a long time to reach the top. I look down and all I can see are fluffy greenish clouds (or maybe they are trees/shrubs?).

Out of nowhere, I wonder how I got here. I can't remember. Then I realize I am dreaming. I pinch my nose with one hand while holding on to the ladder with the other. I can breathe! I instantly jump off the ladder and let myself fall through the cloudy thingies since I am certain it is a dream and I won't get hurt. It feels amazing and breezy.

The fall takes a while and I guess I am drifting off to a non-lucid because as I am falling, I am not thinking of anything, I am just letting my mind wander.

I end up having uneventful dreams about school, right before I wake up from my nap.

Finally! A lucid after two weeks of nothingness :3

      This deserves a banana.
