    01/30/11 Halls of Avalon

Note: For reference, I refer to the energy force that guides me to where I need to be as Avalon, which comes from the island of Avalon as depicted in the animated series Gargoyles. Here is a brief note on the characteristics of Avalon that seem to be seen in the force that guides my unplanned, sometimes non-lucid, dreams:

Avalon cannot be found on a map of the world; it is reachable only by magic. Despite being part of the Earth, its true location is found at a rather large nexus of native Earth magic, and therefore is incapable of being reached in a three dimensional manner. The usual procedure for entering Avalon for mortals is to recite a Latin incantation while upon a body of water (which can range in size from the sea to a college swimming pool); Oberon's Children, on the other hand, can presumably come and go through their innate abilities, without needing water nearby. (Although I have always traveled with my version of Avalon without the aid of water or incantations, unless lying on a waterbed and snoring counts!) Leaving Avalon is somewhat trickier; it does not send you to where you wish to go, but to where you need to be. (It is this part about being sent where you need to be that usually results in me showing up exactly where and when I am needed to perform a dream task.)

So lately I seem to be unable to travel with Avalon, or be lucid in any manner. And even though Avalon has always guided my non-lucids before, they have been getting more and more mundane over time, more dreams about work and school and less dreams about far off worlds and adventure. One of my main goals now is to find out what has happened with my ability to have Avalon send me where I need to be, and get it working again, or hopefully get it working again. There is also an issue going on with Asuka, MoSh has reason to believe there may be a demon of some kind inside her, that her symbiant is fighting it, but isn't able to force it all of the way out. If I am able to, helping with this is my second goal for the night.

    The Halls of Avalon
I am in a strange place, I look around and see that I am in a long arched hallway that is illuminated by a dim blue light. The entire setting is very dark, but it is also very comforting there, I am getting a sense of peace. I look at the high vaulted ceilings and then begin making my way down the hallway, heading in the only way I can go since there is a locked door behind me. I haven't checked the door, but I am absolutely certain it is locked. My footsteps echo loudly in the wide halls, and after a while I meet up with another person there. I am surprised at that since I thought I was alone. There is a woman coming over to me, she smiles welcomingly, and says, "Welcome to the Halls of Avalon."

"The Halls of Avalon?" I ask, "This is Avalon?"

"This is only a small part of Avalon," she says, "The whole of Avalon is vast, but this is where you must enter from. You enter from here and then you will be able to go anywhere you need to at the time. I tell her I have always been able to do that before. She says if I have traveled through the Halls of Avalon in the past, then I have but to choose a hall, go to the door at the end, and find out where it takes me. I continue down the hall I am in, it goes on for a ways farther. I pass several other halls that branch off of the one I am following, though I decide to stay with the one passage for now. It finally comes to an end. There is a door there, so I go to open it up, but I find it is locked.

Suddenly there is a man there with me, he is smiling at me and laughing, though he doesn't really seem unfriendly. He says I'm not going to get through it without unlocking it first… I keep trying to open it for a bit, then I look in my pockets, looking to see if I might have a key on me. The man chuckles again and says it looks like someone lost her key. I ask if he has a key. He says of course he does. I ask him to open the door, then. He says that won't help me any, if he opens the door, it will lead to a place he needs to be right now, not to where I need to be. He says I have to open it myself. I ask where my key is. He asks how he would know that when I'm the one who lost it. I pick up a couple of wires off the ground and make a lame attempt to pick the lock… epic fail. I try a Harry Potter spell, alohamora… epic fail. The man says I have about as much chance of getting through the door like that as I have of digging the Grand Canyon using a teaspoon. I ask him how I'm supposed to get through it, then? Break it down? He says I should use Avalon to find it. I say I can't use Avalon until I find the key, so how am I supposed to use Avalon to find the key? He shakes his head a bit and says I have clearly missed the point entirely. But I shouldn't worry, he has complete confidence that I will figure it out if I just manage to focus on it and think about it for a while.

    Fly Me to the Mall
I am in an airplane of some kind, I am the pilot, and this doesn't seem odd to me. I have complete control of the plane and I am having no trouble flying it, as if I have been doing it for years. There is someone there with me, though I'm not exactly sure who he is. He is saying something about us being too high, we need to lower altitude, so I go into a dive towards the ground. The man with me starts freaking out and yelling at me that we can't lose altitude that fast, we have to pull up, we're going to crash! I don't pay much attention to the man freaking out, I feel confident that we aren't even close to crashing. As we get close to the ground I finally pull up and fly parallel to the ground. The man with me is cursing loudly and telling me I must be stark raving mad. He says he wants off and he wants off now, land the plane now. He is getting annoying, so I finally land the plane in the parking lot of a mall, I'm not sure how I manage to do that, but I landed the plane without destroying anything, not even scratching the plane. The man ejects the hood off of the cockpit and jumps out, face plants on the ground, curses some more, and then runs away. Damn… he ejected the cockpit hood… now I can't even fly the damned plane!

I get out of the plane and decide to go into the mall, where I strangely remember I wanted to get some clothing, though I don't want to go shopping for clothes now… I go into a store and buy a couple of items, then I pay for them and carry them out on hangers. There are now displays of clothing in the halls, all from one designer clothing store. I look around and see some shirts I really like, then I see the price on the tag… $128.99? Seriously? I put one of the items I have on one side of the item I want… then I pick up all three items and walk casually away from the display. I glance around and see there is no one watching me, that's good. Now to look for something cooler… video games. Maybe a Nintendo 3DS… maybe a new game for one of my other systems… I am trying to think about which game I might be interested in getting when I wake up.
