Share an Example of "SUMMONING" from Your Own Dreams.

Hi all. I have been very quite for a long time, sorry about that. Let's share some of our experiences with summoning successful or not from your own lucid dreams.

When I first started learning how to LD my first attempt at summoning was wanting to find a sword and hold it. I used dream incubation and pictured myself holding a sword as I did mantras while falling asleep. The first time I had any luck was after about three or four LDs. I entered a room in our house and saw that my tarot cards were scattered all about. I bent and picked one up. It was the Queen of Swords, and had a picture of a lady with a large sword on a throne. In the dream I got excited and felt this was a small success from the dream incubation. I still could not find a actual sword in that dream though.

In the next LD I was attacked by a DC and did not understand how to make it stop or go away. I held the bad guy down and he pulled out a knife. I took it from him and looked down to see a clear image of a knife in my hand. I tried to make it grow into a sword, but woke up.

The next dream I succeeded! Here is how. I knew in this dream that I had a goal of finding a sword. This was the first one were I clearly remembered a goal I had set while awake. I looked around and saw a few DCs so I worked a story up in my imagination. To find a sword the scene should be castle like, and they should be fighting. As I imagined this some of the imagery shifted and I could see some of the DCs in chain mail with weapons. I jumped into the scene and tried to be confident. I yelled to a DC "I will help, quick hand me a sword" I looked away as if looking for the enemy and reached my hand back towards the DC. Sure enough I could imagine him approaching and felt him hand me a sword. I looked down at my hand and there it was! My first ever success in any kind of control. I had summoned my first sword.

Feel free to share failures too, or even just what you plan on trying to summon and how you might do it.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Summoning is the dream control I have done the most and feel the most confidence in (which helps in future success: confidence and success form a feedback loop that just keeps strengthening both). I usually summon either small objects that can be found in the pocket, or picked up with a hand, or dream characters.

Dream characters: for some reason, the "I will see my desired DC beyond the next corner/tree/door" doesn't work for me. What always works is the "behind the back summon:" I convince myself via pretend memory that "Oh, yeah, <DC name> is standing right behind me," then I put my hand behind my back, say "Hey, DC, take my hand!", imagine hand contact, and bring my hand back around in front of me and expect the DC to be there. One of two things happens at that point: 1) the DC is there holding my hand, or 2) the DC enters the scene from "off-stage" in front of me.

Notably interesting DC summon: did "behind that bush" summon, nope didn't work, tried behind the back, and at first didn't see anything but *kept on expecting* to see the DC then the DC materialized directly in front of my eyes. At first a body-shaped solid red outline, then a rapid "painting" stage where the "person" texture spread across the shape. That was cool!

Items: Either pocket summon, "utility belt" summon (good for lightsabers!), or just "it's already in my hand" (also for lightsabers). I started with these and they were high percentage success. I always get something from my pocket, but not always my desired object.

My new favorite item summoning is "ask a DC:" once in a particularly good TOTM-fest, I walked up to a DC (Harry Potter theme, the DC was dressed as a witch) and said, "You've brought my wand, now give it to me" and the DC immediately handed me an awesome looking wand. Also earlier in that scene I asked another DC to take me to where the fortunes where, and it worked perfectly.

I notice that anything I summon usually doesn't come to me until I give up and then just stubbornly wait for it. I've been known to, after failed summons, to just sit on the ground pouting telling my brain I refuse to do anything until I get my summoned person/thing. It usually works - my brain is incredibly impatient apparently. It doesn't like me forcing it to be idle.

A few techniques that have worked in the past, though it's still uncommon for them to work for me:

Mirror technique. Probably not the best thing to do if you see creepy things in dream mirrors, but it was the number one technique that worked like 30% of the time (which is good for me). I would look in the mirror, and imagine what I want (usually works best with people), then I'd move away from the mirror and back to it, and the DC would be standing behind me in the mirror. I turn around and there they are.

The behind the door technique has worked a few times, where you say the DC or the item is behind the door, and when you open it then it's there. This hardly ever works for me though.

For small items, it seems to work best when I just assume they're in my pocket, reach in, and pull it out. I've gotten "pills that increase vividness" before that way.

I haven't a summon yet but when I read about them I am all stirred up and know I really want to do it I think your sword one would be a good one for me Sivason as I would so enjoy a fencing dual - I will begin tonight incubating a fragment of me holding a sword and looking for my partner in dual - Touché

      Heya there,

Although I have very little experience with objects, I've summoned a lot of dream characters in my lucid dreams.

Some of my favorite tricks in the past have been 'the door trick' and 'the bed trick'. I'd focus on a door, start by watching the handle move, then watch the door open and someone come through. This pretty much always guaranteed at least someone appeared (though not always the character I was trying to summon). The bed trick would involve finding a bed to find the dream characters. For some reason, in my dreams, the sheets in beds are never straight. They're always a mess, with bulges like they're pillows (or persons) lying under them. So I used that to bring dream characters into the dream, pulling back the sheets.

However, I've also noticed I could fail by focusing too much on the technique and too little on the dream character itself.

In the case of the door trick, for instance, the wrong dream character would come through, because all my attention is on the door itself and not on the character I'm trying to bring into the dream. I've had nights where I would tell myself 'I'll search for this or that dream character in my dreams', only to end up with long lucid dreams in which I'm endlessly searching. I used to think I was doing something wrong, until I realized the dream was giving me exactly what I wanted. I then switched to 'I'll find this dream character', with more success, only the lucid dream would stop the moment I found dream character. Again, it was giving me exactly what I asked for.

These days, I tend not to worry too much about the technique itself. I'd focus on the dream character, be confident that he/she will appear, try to remember some peculiarities of the character or some associations, and any given trick or technique will do.

I can't make them appear out of thin air though. My mind won't wrap itself around that. Though I did manage to make one appear before me once but creating some sort of black hole the character came through

Summon people worked for me some times. normally i try the "behind my back" or "behind a corner". once after i didnt find her behind the corner but there where a lot of people i start calling her name and after i turn around and was like hm the girl is coming to me is this xY? i asked her and yes she was.

items i tried some times with the pocket thing. worked i think only one or two times. most of the time i expect it to be behind me on the ground too. i tried some times to get glasses for better sight=clarity. sometimes i find them somewhere behind me on the ground. once a DC saw it on the ground and pick it up for me (thank you )
i tried to summon things out from my backpack. to expect that a backpack is on my back was not the problem but like the pocket thing, its not always that inside that you expect^^

some weeks ago i had a very high quality and long lucid and i did for the first time portals right in front of me and morphed a mirror right infront of my eyesight. that was very interesting. was pretty hard and clumsy but it worked.

i think everything stands and falls with the expectation and confidence. i often wanted to summon something from my pocket but put my hand in there before i completely convinced myself what i exactly want or expect there to be and the result was always the same: empty or some other stuff insight.
but when i really "know" that it is there and "belief" myself then its not a big problem.

Again, it was giving me exactly what I asked for.
i know exactly what you mean. i had a lot of those. i have a to do list consisting of like 4 elements. i remember the first one (e.g. summon xy and then do with him this or that) and then i waste the whole dream just for searching and loosing awareness. when i am really clearminded and dont get what i expect i switch to a different task and just keep going.
But most of the times i am to "perfectionist". For example this month totms: follow a DC. i cant just follow some random DC i am actively searching for a DC that somewhat looks interesting. and so after like 4 or 5 lucids i just didnt manage to finish the task because i dont follow but search.

i think i will try to remember your approach to not search but FIND something!

you do this without looking there right? just expectation that someone will hand it to you?
can you describe a little bit what you think or expect exactly in the moment? is it "someone" that hand you something or do you actually think that "Dream" is doing it for you?
what for example you let throw on you?

but seems pretty simple when you have the hang on it. way better then running around and expect someone to be behind a corner and there is noone so you keep on searching and waste time.

how high is your successrate with this? do you kind of always get what you need or do you need sometimes more approaches or does it sometimes just dont work?

Yes, without looking. The expectation is not that a DC will hand it to me, it's that the item was placed by the dream and is there to grab, suspended in the air at my convenience. It's just like the pocket summon. As for what I would have the dream throw at me, I needed multiple Barbie dolls at once for a lucid dare so I had. This is the only time that I've had the dream throw items at me but I would have the dream throw items at me if I found it was quicker than summoning them one or two at a time.

My success rate is pretty high with this. Not perfect but about 90-95%. The success rate is lowest with DCs. Sometimes I'll try to summon a women but get a man or a dog instead. My success rate is lower during nightmares. Rarely will I get nothing when I try to summon. But if I do, I have to resort to looking around the dreamscape for it.

Haha when summoning women I'm usually successful, but once in a very long but fairly low awareness LD I got two stuffed toy basketballs on the top of the bar instead.

Last night I summoned the sea - around the corner - so that I could swim in it and it was there! Deep, vast and wide and I swam delighted!

I wonder what a good summon would be next ...it's sometimes hard to find the right things to focus on as one goes along as a beginner as one wants to give oneself a challenge but not something that's too hard ... Any suggestions . ?

I was in my house when I attained lucidity. I thought now was the time to try summoning one of my favourite characters from an animated movie. With the intention of him appearing around the corner I walked into the area where I believed him to be. Sure enough he was there. This was my first attempt at summoning a DC and it definitely gave me one hell of a surprise when this cartoonish looking person appeared. It was a pretty awesome feeling to know I have the power to will things into existence as easily as that.

Just had an interesting summoning experience in a long dream that had semi-lucid, low-awareness lucid, and high-awareness lucid moments.

I was seated at a table on a bench/chair and knew I wanted/needed an "immobilization ring" (basically a balloon donut/torus that I could use to magically subdue my opponents by slipping it down over their heads and over their body, pinning their arms down against their sides). I at first reached down under the table, hoping to find it leaning against my chair, but came up empty. Then I scooted to the edge of the bench and tried again, and came up empty again. But I had a flash of inspiration (based on some of sivason's and other's experiences of continuing to believe that it is really there, I just had to keep working to perceive it properly), and believed that it was in fact there in my hand even though I could neither see nor feel it yet. So I held my hand in a "C" shape imagining that I was grasping on to this thing.

I had a little sidekick guy with me and I told him to also grab it and expected that his doing this would make it materialize, and poof, it appeared!

Then I realized I need two of these, and I handed it to my sidekick and told him to "pull" a second one out of the first one. He did this and the first one thickened and then separated into the second one. I was looked right at it while he did this, and I said "awesome!" and it was . So, another successful case of "DC help" in summoning.
