      Before Inception, there was Mirrormask...

Sorry the title is so cheesy but I really liked a title like that and couldn't make it any less cheesy.

Mirrormask is a movie about lucid dreaming. Kind of the same idea as Inception, but they play out in totally different ways. Mirrormask is much more fantasy-like and surreal, and is about a young girl (almost like Pan's Labyrinth but the girl is older).
I watched it a long time ago and loved it but never managed to find a copy of the DVD again. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm sure most of you have actually heard of this movie. But if you haven't, I have to recommend it. I like Inception, too, but Mirrormask is a different flavor. I'm not sure which one I like more. Maybe Inception by just a little (perhaps because I'm older now... and Marion Cotillard) I have to admit Inception has the better story.. but here are some links to info on Mirrormask.

I loved Mirrormask. It was definitely a different side of Jim Henson.

I;ll have to find a copy of this, looks really good. Guess I'm finally gonna have to pay my library fines.

I guess there's a graphic novel/storyboard version of it too.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

I saw this movie a while back. It is much more "dream like" than inception. Way more visually interesting.

The whole movie appears to be here:
      MirrorMask.avi

But the quality isn't very good. I think it's probably in most Blockbuster's or movie rental stores if you look for it. I rented it. I just haven't seen it in a while.

It's pretty good. Weird as all hell, but very dark and surreal.

I've had this movie for awhile. It's a good movie, but I cannot see any relation to Inception though?

I didn't particularly care for this movie, if you can even call it that.

many said the same about inception too. Though I understood both movies all the way through.

Yeah, sorry. They're two completely different movies, they're just both about lucid dreaming and I really enjoy both of them. Probably should have come up with a better title for the board.

Thanks I'll defenitely check that movie out.
Inception, to me, was such an epic disappointment.

The whole concept: invading other people's dreams, was very exciting, but the plot was so shallow and hollywood-naïve. If you can truely invade in other people's dreams and manipulate their ideas, surely you could and would do FAR greater things than just earn a load of money manipulating the president of a large corporation. If I could do that I would significantly change the world to be a free, peacefull and enlightened place.

But anywayz thanks for sharing this Movie. I hope it is indeed much better than Inception.
BTW similair to Mirrormask and Inception, before there was The Matrix, there was Equilibrium; A movie of which the matrix is basically a rip off( all though a kick ass, respectable one at that) I find Equilibrium a better presentation than the Matrix of the same story.

Who is "you?" Surely you're not basing your rating of a movie by comparing the characters' motives to what your own would be, in like situations?
In fact, we don't know what Dom and the others were doing with the ability, before he was run out of the country. But to call the plot "shallow," just because it was centered around a bunch of thieving contractors is to be a little too harsh/biased, don't you think?

HAHA I was going to say the same thing O.

That doesn't make sense. Big corporations have the money now to change the world too - feed everyone etc. -, they won't, they will use it to manipulate people in to giving them more money. Most people would. The quickest technological advancements are made during war. This inception device is obviously a great technological advancement and they made it to do these sorts of things, like infrared and tanks and whatever else.

In other words, it's most likely what would happen IRL.

However I didn't really like the Matrix that much either, it definitely seemed way too hollywood for me, or maybe it's the over done bend to dodge bullets rip-offs which I saw before the movie, I don't know but I never really understood why it was so loved.
So I might watch that Equilibrium movie you mentioned.
