Final Fantasy, I like them all.
The World Ends With You was really good.
      WoW. ;P
      Minecraft.
And Pokemon HeartGold is my favorite Pokemon so far.
Oh, and I also like the Harvest Moon series.

Generally I prefer RPG type games, like fantasy style. Golden Sun, Suikoden, Radiata Stories, DragonQuest, that kind of stuff. Yea, I'm kind of a nerd about it. The only shooter I really liked was Time Crisis in the Arcade.
Also, these are just my favorites to play, personally. I wouldn't call them the best...in fact, if I had to name the "best" games, I would probably have to put Way of the Samurai on the list somewhere. That game was so incredibly awesome. And Resident Evil, of course.

      In no particular order:

Zelda: Ocarina of Time - This game held me spellbound for MONTHS. In fact, I think there hasnt been any game that has held my interest as long as this game did. it was truly magical.

Max Payne 1 and 2 - I think at least the first game was really before its time, both in terms of graphics and gameplay mechanics. The story was also pretty great, especially the way it was delivered.

Planescape: Torment - I dont know how to describe the greatness of this game. The gameplay itself was rather mediocre, but it didnt even matter because the depth of the story and main character in this game far surpasses pretty much anything ive seen in a game up to date.

Half Life - This game blew my mind when it first came out. It was just an awesome, awesome FPS.

Morrowind - First game I played with an open-ended world. I really, really miss the feeling of mystique and freedom I got the first time I played this game.

Knights of the old republic 1 and 2 - Awesome story and characters.

Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3 - Awesome psychological horror. Loved everything about these games - the world, the monsters (Pyramid head still haunts my dreams) and the soundtrack.

Fallout 1 and 2 - Fantastic RPG's. A great mix of dark humour and senseless violence

      1) Xenogears
      2) Tales of Vesperia
      3) Einhander
      4) Shenmue I & II.
      5) PSO

So, yeah, too many games to fit into a list... This is what immediately comes to mind and is subject to change. Been playing a lot of Minecraft lately, but not enough to include it yet.

      Hmm only 5?
Can't really decide on a top 5 or preference right now so 5 that made an impact of the top of my head:
Some of these haven't stood the test of time in terms of playability.

Castlevania SotNExcellent gameplay and the graphics at the time were incredible, at least on a 2d screen everything looked well rendered as opposed to characters on other games with simple textures, or great graphics in the background but characters that looked tacky in the foreground.
Great storyline which to this day has often made other vampire movies/ books seem tacky in comparison, even though some are okay. My cousin had Soul Reaver at the time which started an early interest in the anti-hero.

Metal Gear Solid Whilst the sequels have much better gameplay and have continued to improve and add new things this one was incredible, complex, had a unique storyline and the first divergence from shooters I'd played. Even being 10 or 11 playing the first time I loved the deeper storyline and elements of mystery and suspense even if I couldn't completely follow it.
Had never seen Escape from LA/NY and was the first jaded soldier I'd played as who wasn't all gung-ho.

Final Fantasy VIII While I've only played 8 and 10 and aren't a big fan of JRPG's this certainly felt incredibly immersive at the time, characters were interesting, could travel the globe, political conflicts, sci-fi.
Even if the above are kids games the storylines seemed more sophisticated and opened up different realities. Never got into 7 going backwards in graphics etc, but if I had played it first probably would have enjoyed it.

GTA IIIHad briefly played 2 but was blown away at my first glimpse at sandbox, hours just cruising around in vehicles or on foot wreaking mayhem. Vice City was great and GTA SA managed to eclipse it in all ways but first time seeing a rockstar game with all the cutscenes and playing through a movie like experience was incredible. GTA4 was pretty but for mindless fun I prefer Saints Row 2 for playability and complete character customisation.

Fallout 3 Would've gone for Oblivion, (from what I've seen of Morrowind, isn't quite as good in some ways like storyline/factions/depth)but preferred the gameplay, character design and most of all the storyline. Like Oblivion never played the predecessors but love just getting immersed in it's world with all it's history, diverse characters and darker humour.

So many games to choose from just had to pick some at random, others I could've mentioned: Pokemon Blue/Yellow, Abe's Oddysee/Exodus, COD games, Tekken Series, Timesplitters 2, Legacy of Kain and sequels, Max Payne, Super Mario 64, Silent Hill's, Resident Evil's, GoldenEye(N64) etc

      1. Assassin creed series.
      2. Elder scroll IV: Oblivion.
      3. Final Fantasy series.
      4. Fallout 3/New Vegas
      5. Prince Of Persia series.

P.S. I hate shooting or racing games. ;D

P.S. I love League Of Legends too.
      My opinion:
*Lucid Dreams, OBEs, Astral Projections are one and the same.
*There are no levels of lucidity. Quality changes if you apply some deepening.
*Lucid Dreams do not last more than 20 minutes.
      *Wolves are beautiful.

Why do you hate shooting games? Play an intelligent one like HL2, you'll quickly forget that Final Fantasy tosh.

Boring? How are they boring, they require quick reflexes and require you to make split second decisions. I have a feeling you dislike them because of your lack of ability. I was the same way as a child, mostly playing jRPGs because they were stupidly easy. However, I've matured past that, and now I can't play jRPGs without being bored to tears. I've recently discovered the Soul Blazer series though, hopefully it will have enough action to keep me entertained. I really would like to play through another RPG, they are just so slow.....

That's like saying Blonde on Blonde was a bad album.

But yes, Neverhood is so amazing, so unknown.

You should play the SMT (Shin Megami Tensei) games if you want some difficulty. They are great JRPGs and actually provide a very nice challenge.

First person? Interesting. I'll add it to my list. I've been saving all emulations for my pandora. Should be here next week, I can't wait!

Nah...well, I actually a couple of them are first person. I was referring to the more modern games though.... like Persona 3 & 4, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, and Nocturne (this is a real ball buster on hard mode).

I have no idea what this analogy is supposed to mean..?

There are at least 10 fantastically good songs in The Neverhood, irrespective of being a videogame. In Skullmonkeys though (which I've never played), I can't name any particularly good songs.

There are several games (as there are books, movies, music, etc) that while you're watching or right after them you get the feeling that they're the best game/book/movie ever, but only some that will call you back and your opinion of them will improve while you're away from them. Among these I can count around 5.

From Valve I can't really decide between Half Life 2 and Portal, the badasseryness of one and the humor and acid tone of the other.

Silent Hill has marked me forever. Full of symbols, I love symbolism. I think it should be more popular here amongst dreamers, seeing as it is nothing but a quest into the unconscious mind, specially 2.

I thought Ókami was very charming and creative, with great gameplay and aesthetics.

And finally, the Metal Gear Solid series will always be one of my favorites.

      boom.
Starcraft2, what an awesome game, the Zergs are my favourite. Did you watch the Global Starcraft II League tournament on GOM TV? I've also played Diablo2 and Monkey Island. I'm playing Portal at the moment and League of Legends, oh and a bit of Minecraft. I might give Oblivion a go soon to.
