I want to watch that now! I have it on blu-ray, which is currently sitting under my bed along with some other random junk... x)

I use to love hott fuzz. I still like it, but not as much as before. I didnt like the Paul movie they were in as much as their other movies. Its probably because it wasn't filmed in Europe.

Rashomon is my favorite Kurosawa movie, if you like that another great one by him is Throne of Blood which is a samurai adaption of Shakespeare's Macbeth, its pretty awesome. Im trying to watch all of Luis Buñuel's movies currently, saw The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie which was a bit overdone, its the same as alot of his other movies, he is pretty hit and miss for me.

haha. Yeah I like some of his things. I can't remember the first thing I watched of his though but it was incredibly lame. I think that sort of shaped my opinion of him.

Pandorum: a decent amalgam of space-claustrophobia and post-apocalyptic survival--worthwhile for fans of either.

I've got a stack of Cronenberg lined up, and started with Scanners. I must admit I burst out laughing during some of the psychic battles, which mostly consisted of different actors staring at each other and pretending they were in a wind tunnel while disturbing music played. Still, it had that warped Croneberg-y goodness. I don't expect to see anything up to the standards of Naked Lunch or The Fly--I don't know, maybe he does better when he's trying to honor existing material, rather than working from scratch?--but I have yet to see one of his films I didn't appreciate.

I watch way too many movies a week. This week's:

      Hall Pass
      - I loved this. I watched it a couple times after just because of how good it was (and to see Nicki Whelan's tits).

      Take Me Home
      - Holy shit this movie was hilarious. I haven't laughed so hard in ages. It's definitely worth the watch.

      X-men: First Class
      - I was skeptical whether or not I should watch this just because of how overly disappointing Last Stand was. I was presently surprised with the movie. It was much better than Thor seemed to be.

      Sucker Punch
      - Probably one of the strangest movies I've seen. I didn't get to finish it all because my laptop broke but I am definitely going to. It's very intriguing.

      This weekend:
      - Green Lantern
      - Bad Teacher
      - Super 8

      (I'm a movie whore)

      Was it like this?

What I have seen from Cronenberg I've liked so far.

Because I have a pretty big TV now I wanted to watch some state of the arts CGI and went for Sucker Punch. But that's really all it had going for it. Ugh..

Also, I have to +1 for Kung Fu Panda. So good. Gonna take my daughter to see the new one soon.

Kung Fu Panda is awesome, the action scenes are all like

I'll probably wait for the second one on Blu-ray though, gonna spend my theater money on TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON. I'm really stoked about this movie, the action set pieces look phenomenal.

Speaking of Cronenberg, Crash(the movie about car crash fetishes not the one about racism) was insane. I still have yet to see his older stuff but Videodrome and Naked Lunch are my favorites. Lately Ive been watching this awesome dvd set I got called Avant-garde cinema 1920-1930 which has a bunch of silent/surreal movies from that time period.

Oh ya speaking of Naked Lunch there is a new William S Burroughs documentary just came out a bit ago. Its called "William S. Burroughs: A Man Within" Cronenberg is in it too.

It's definitely a 'love it or hate it' flick. I'm a little (a lot) disappointed at there having been so much that the directer was forced to cut out. Something like 30 mins. There are told to be many more adult themes and story elements that would make the movie a little less confusing, and the symbolism (which I think is one of the movie's finer points) much less hard to 'get.' It's also said that there are full dance numbers in the original version (which I'm not quite sure how I feel about, yet). Can't wait for the Blu-Ray.

But seriously: Watch for all of the symbolism. Piece together how the things in the 'dream' sequences coincide with what's going on in the 'real' world. It's awesome to see how everything is so tightly (but subtly) connected.

@ Raphael: I'm pretty excited about Transformers, too. I hated the second one. It was visually satisfying, but everything else pretty much sucked. I just hope this one isn't more of the same. You're right, though, the action looks absolutely insane, from what I've seen so far.

Side note: Rise of the Planet of the Apes looks badass, too!

The R-rated director's cut is already out on blu ray, is it not?

Anyhow, I just finished it. It wasn't as confusing as I thought it would be, and I really loved how the dream sequences tied into the real ones, especially the one with the bomb on the train.

I love Simon Pegg, but from the trailer and the director I thought I'd be dissapointed. Gladly I was mistaken, I enjoyed it enough to watch it again soon, it's one of those movies that's perhaps not really that funny but it's lots of fun.

I have an infamously bad taste in movies. I thought The Dark Night, Fight Club, etc were all average movies. So maybe take my reccomendation with a grain of salt...
The last movie I saw was Hall Pass with my GF. It was really funny, I love Jenna Fischer. Definitely see it with a date.

Just make sure you switch with the Irish guy, haha.

I've got about 6 movies backed up to watch now that I will probably take on later today. I've honestly been watching more MLP: FiM than anything. I'm still seeing Green Lantern this weekend but I just found out the guy I'm going with wants to see it in 3D IMAX. It should be pretty epic.

After seeing Watchmen, I will never be disappointed that Zack Snyder is forced to cut material

I was about to say that with Sucker Punch I can write him off entirely, but looking at his filmography, he also did the 2004 Dawn of the Dead, which I liked quite a bit. Granted, that was his first feature film, so presumably he had much less of a free rein, and obviously less of a budget. Some people need boundaries.
