      The Blob.
      I laughed my ass off with some scenes. graphics weren't spectacular, but still, not too bad for the Eighties;
      Entertaining, I give it a 6!

      Shaolin

I liked it very much. It somehow reminded me of the Last Samurai.

The only thing I never get, is why Chinese films have the tendency to employ English actors who sound so pompously ludicrous, it's unbelievable; as if they're caricatures.

      Shaolin is an awesome film

The last cinema outing I had was The Cabin in the Woods.

      2001: A Space Odyssey

First time seeing this. Well...it started off with brilliant acting, and the feeling of an epic scope - this didn't quite last as it cut and began to focus on an intelligent computer. Still, I always enjoy sentient computers going haywire - this particular one almost made you feel as if it had real qualities of a human. Then, however, I think the writers took some LSD, and the film tumbled down the rabbit hole, as it continued to float along with a visual display of multicolored fractals....climaxing with a floating baby. I'm not quite sure what I watched - reincarnation? The evolution or beginning of man from extraterrestrial intervention? lol. No idea.

And I have to admit, the music as the spacecrafts drifted through space didn't quite give me a sense of grandeur and isolation, but instead of a comical waltz. Maybe that was the intention.

I found this trailer last night and decided to look it up on Netflix. It was available for streaming so I watched it. It was brilliant. I wasn't a "Stereotypical" gay movie where there are all feminine and sex crazy. (maybe a bit of sex...) It was a really great character driven movie. I recommend it to any fellow gay/bi member and any open minded straight people. 10/10.

Fright Night; stupid movie, I only watched it because David Tennant is in it.
Intouchables; good movie, funny, touching, feel good.

I like arthouse movies, espacially really weird ones, any suggestions?

      Oh yes.

Start with 'Hidden' (or Cache in French)
Then move on to 'Funny Games US'

Both by the same director. Very arthouse. Lots of 10-minute takes and general weirdness.

      Thanks for the suggestions
I do have funny games on DVD, the original version. It gave me an ugly feeling.
I read the plotline of Hidden on IMDB and it sounds exactly the same as Lost Highway.

Can I recommend you a totally absurd movie? It is called Dogtooth and the movie is sometimes funny, very sad and painful at the same time. Gummo is also a movie you must see if you like weird movies

Cool I'll look them up, thanks.

But definitely watch Hidden, it's so worth it. Totally unlike anything I'd ever seen before in the way it was made.

I see if I can download it this weekend. If you need more suggestions for strange or really good arthouse movies, just ask

I'd read the book and liked it a lot, but honestly I loved the movie. It was a teenage movie, but for adults.
Very very good, and my little brother suggested it (I now respect his movie-know-how much more)

Apart from X-Men First Class and The Recruit, both of which were average...

I watched an Italian movie called I'm Not Scared, and it was interesting.

      Spoiler for I'm Not Scared:

The movie had a lot of interesting metaphors, though it wasn't perfect. Still, worth a watch.

I can totally recommend Dead Alive, and Meet The Feebles, both early films by Peter Jackson. Watch them with friends, and a really open mind.

I'd be willing to bet the book was more involved.

It seemed like there were a lot of metaphors that probably would have been better in book form.

It was a while ago so I can't remember, all I recall is a vaguely disturbing storyline...
