Thread: last movie you saw - and what did you think of it?

Pretty cool; I loved the cinematography and editing, especially during the escape and container park scene. Story was a little lackluster, though. 7.5/10

The Lion King 3D. It was AMAZING. I can't believe I forgot how good it was. Usually I don't care for 3D because it makes me dizzy and it's just annoying, but in this case I thought it turned out pretty good. Let's just say this was the best 8$ I ever spent on a 3D movie.

Contagion.

Very solid performances given by the whole cast, especially Matt Damon and Laurence Fishburne. It's definitely frightening knowing something like that is theoretically possible and has already happened before to some extent. It's a good movie, I recommend it!

I still need to go see The Lion King 3D, though... been hearing a lot of good things about it, even about the 3D.

Rundskop(Bullhead).

Well it was pretty good. But I had a hard time understanding the main character(I coudn't put subtitles on becuase it was a ripped CD). Tho it's in Flemish, we have way too many dialects

The main character spoke a pretty hard too understand dialect. It's ridiculous how I could barely understand my own language

I could sometimes understand the Walloons better with their French in the movie, and I can't even speak French

Wrote an in depth review on what I thought about X-men and got disconnected while posting.


Anyways.

Music 5/5 I don't reccognize this guy who did the music, but he also did "Kick Ass". I think I may have yet another reason to watch it. The score was done wonderfully and I like how they broke it down throughout.

VFX 5/5 John Dykstra....do I need to say anymore?

Story 2/5 (the story itself was good...but having known the characters, and how things really took place, kinda ruined it for me. Movie goers unfamiliar with the X-men in the comics will love it. Comic readers will have to put aside that this isn't the 616 marvel universe.)

Characters 3/5 (see story....I think the actors did a good job of portraying them, but even in comparison to the Movie X-men, there are characters who should end up way too old (Ema frost in wolverine origins).

blu ray features 3/5 Nothing really new here. Behind the scenes, putting putting the movie together, and a few deleted scenes. I kinda hoped there would be be some sort of way to watch the entire movie with the deleted scenes, since they were shot in 1080i.

Overall: 3.6 Even after my story line complaints, I still think it's a must watch for Marvel fans, and people who like action films in general. The movie was well put together and I think it deserves the credit it got.

Just watched Paprika, an anime movie full of dream sequences.
Loved it!
and i swear Inception ripped them off..

anyway.. 10/10, mint animation and attention to detail

Romancing the Stone (1984). You gotta love the classics. It's a great movie!

I almost never watch movies, but watched 3 with my boyfriend while he was visiting last week:

The Dark Knight:
I've never watched a batman movie before, that I remember. It was okay. I didn't like it much because there was way too much action. I'm fine with action. The first few explosions just made it more exciting and interesting. But after that, it got kind of boring. It just kept dragging on and on. I would think the climax was reached and it would be over in a few minutes, but then more would happen and I just lost interest. Many of the characters seemed pretty flat. A main character died, but I barely felt bad about it, because the character wasn't built up enough. There were a few interesting characters though. I liked the Joker, and the two-faced guy, especially at the end. The two of them had depth, but those were the only two.

Letters From Iwo Jima:
I'm not into war stuff at all and thought I'd hate this, but I loved it. It was all in Japanese, with subtitles. I don't think I've ever watched a war movie before that I've actually payed attention to. But I'm glad I did. I think I finally understand what people mean when they say things are more entertaining when you know they really happened. The Japanese mentality was interesting, especially the willingness and fearlessness to commit suicide from some of them, rather than surrender. And there were surprising emotional attachments to the characters.

A Beautiful Mind:
This was pretty good, intriguing. I had no idea until the ending when it mentioned it that it was based on a true story. I'd been wanting to see this movie for a long time, and am glad I did, even though it isn't exactly what I expected.

The Lord of the Rings (all 3):
My boyfriend had been trying to get me to watch these for a long time, and I've been putting it off. I'd seen one of the movies a few years ago, and barely payed attention. I hated the books because I found the characters were too flat to care about. But these movies were amazing, the best I've seen in some ways. There was a slight lack of character depth, but not as much as I thought, and it didn't matter. It was so epic and well-made. Its atmosphere is alluring. I love Gollum, and have been looking up clips of him. While watching it, we were both getting into fits of laughter almost every time he talked, and often during Marry and Pippin scenes too, and the Sam-Frodo bromance scenes.

Book Of Eli: It was slightly creepy, but very well played out. The action cinematography could have been made out a little better, and an explanation as to where he got all of his insane fighting skills would have been nice. The 4 cars they had were also very awesome, and I loved the glasses everyone wore. Overall a good movie 8/10

The Adjustment Bureau. There are a lot of movies I think that are going to be awesome, and then they let me down. Luckily this wasn't one of them.

Since I'm interested in astral projection, I finally watched Insidious. It was ok, but definitely way off when it comes to AP and factually wrong. But for entertainment purposes and to bring AP more into mainstream, it was good.

The 3D was great (probably the best use of 3D I've seen) and helped bring the environment to life even more so than before. It's one of my favorite movies and always will be.

I've heard Inception "ripped off" a Donald Duck comic or something, but the fact is that the idea had been growing in Nolan's mind since he was a student. I was dissapointed by Paprika, the story was ok but the characters had no depth, I couldn't care less about them.

I was also very young when I saw it. Haven't seen it since, but people speak very highly of it. Maybe it's time to give it another shot.

I also just got back from seeing The Lion King in theatres. I've seen it a bunch of times but not on the big screen.

SO AWESOME. I cried a lot.

YES!!!!!11111!11!1 Gosh I love that moment when they're fighting in slow motion with the fire in the background and the awesome music.

The Next Three Days with Russell Crowe, a remake of a French movie Pour Elle (Anything for her). They showed both on TV one after another, so I saw both version. Was fun to watch (I like Russell Crowe, what can I say).

Watched 300 with my mom.

Awesomely stylized, even though it was a bit flat in terms of character development... Plus, Mike Fassbender was in it, and I didn't know that... I think that's the only reason my mom practically made me sit down to watch it. XD

Also saw Benjamin Button again! The ending was really... ;.;

It was a late night; I went to bed at 5 in the morning.

iRobot

Still fails to really engage me emotionally, but it's a cool movie with strong echoes of Bladerunner, a bit of 2001, and maybe just a touch of AI. Really takes on extra meaning in the wake of Steve Jobs' death - especially considering it begins with the death of the founder of the iRobot program and raises questions about where that program should go after his death.

The Punisher, well a good deal of it. It was on regular TV so there were a lot of hard edits, and also I didn't catch most of the ending. From what I saw, it seemed okay.
