Obviously it's scary if you experience your own death! I had it as a kid, but I wake up before dying in that case. |

I find it quite strange and scary, is it normal and common? |

Moved this to General Dream Discussion as this probably has more to do with non-lucids than lucids. |

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I used to dream about me dying when I was younger (ages 1-10). Someone always murdered me though, it wasn't like I watched myself have cancer or something. |

Thanks Puffin, I didn't know what category to put it in it's not me that's been having these dreams, it's two of my friends. I thought "that's strange, I wonder if it's quite a common thing". It just so happens one of them is a natural lucid dreamer as well. Does anybody know why people often dream of their death? |
|
Yeah, no problem! |

So you mean a bit like a possum? (I think that's the animal that pretends it's dead to protect itself). Well it makes sense Maybe someone could ask their dreamguide next time they see them? |

I recently had a spurt in death dreams. I wouldn't say they're "fun" but they aren't bad either. Most times that I die I fade into blackness, losing my vision. The emotional feeling of the situation is inexplicable. Losing everything in a single pitiless moment. It's beautiful. |

I dream of dying and my death quite often. I always have (even at a young age). I've had dreams of "after death" (which is quite odd for me - an atheist), too. In which I'll either be a ghost, or on the path to "what comes next" (dream always ends before I get to "next"). It's quite scary for me, personally. I must admit, it's probably on my list of least favorite things to experience in a dream. Usually, I'll wonder if I'm dreaming when it happens and I think it may be a defense mechanism when I do. |
|
Scary stuff, it's not something I want to experience myself if I'm honest with you. lol |

I've died in my dreams more times than I can count. D: |
|
The only time I can remember dying is from drowning... |

Yes I think so - because of our desire to survive, even the tiniest fears we have about something can potentially be manifested in the worst possible scenario - ie. death. |

I often get murdered in my dreams. It isn't fun, but I just wake up after "dying" It's just that moment of "I'm going to die!?" and freaking out that bothers me. |

I've only died once in a dream, although I recall a dream when I was sentenced to death, but I ran away Anyway, when I actually died the weirdest thing happened. I was at my old school, and everyone was on the playground, running around with knives, I had one too, and me and my friend were waiting at the top of the playground, out of the action. We were discussing plans to get out (My friend explaining how to build a jetpack), when suddenly my friend stopped talking. He turned to me, said In a menacing sort of way 'Feel My Toilet!' And stabbed me four times. There was no actual pain, just a dull ache that started In the areas where I had been stabbed, and spread all over my body. Even when I woke up these areas were really achey and sore. |
