Wink How much time did it take for you to get your first LD?

I think that thread like that should exist already, but I can't seem to find it. So, how much time did it take for you to get your first LD? And what method did you use?

I had mine first LD after 2 - 3 weeks of regular RCing, Dream Journal. I had few unsuccessful WILD attempts too and than I had to quit, because of personal matters. I am back and it has been excellent 5 days of constant thinking about becoming lucid. Will get my LD this night for sure!!!
      My opinion:
*Lucid Dreams, OBEs, Astral Projections are one and the same.
*There are no levels of lucidity. Quality changes if you apply some deepening.
*Lucid Dreams do not last more than 20 minutes.
      *Wolves are beautiful.

I got my first LD when I was like six by aciddent. I guess it was DILD but like I said I was six. It was a cool dream though.

I got mine in about 2-3 days after reading about lucid dreaming.
In that dream I saw a classmate that went to live in another country and I said "Can't believe you are back! I must be dreaming!".
I became lucid right after that and it lasted for about 10 seconds then the dream faded. He was my dream sign for the next three lucid dreams, but after that he just vanished from my dreams.

I assume you read the question wrong??

It took me about a month or so to have one that was extremely short. After that it took about another month to have one that was worthwhile.

Yes, I'm serious. From the moment I started training, to the moment I managed to induce my very first LD, it took 8 years.

But looking at your LD count I can see that these 8 years were not wasted. ;D

8 years of fairly regularly training? Im assuming you spent some significant amount of time in between?

I've been lucid dreaming all my life, I just didn't know the technical term for it until I joined DreamViews, in May '10.

It's been about six weeks now.

Iad my first and only years ago - but about six weeks ago I sd trying toeive lucidity, without success so far. I constantly forget reality checks and rarely remember my dreams for the DJ, which makes things harder.

Regularly training, yes. And I'm 20, but started training at 5. Long story short, I knew nothing of lucidity other than it being possible, so I had to re-discover the stuff and work by myself, which as should be obvious, I wasn't very good at <.<

That's 3266 lucid dreams in 775 days. That's over four lucid dreams per night for a duration of over two years. May I ask what prompted you to start trying at five years of age? Moreover, what caused you to remain dedicated for eight whole years with no success? What kind of training did you do for those eight years?

I had a lucid nightmare at that age, the excitment, the fight, the thoughts I had at the time and the emotions, all of it got me really into it. And nightmares is what got me motivated, every time I had a nightmare, I would think of how awesome it would be the day I would be able to catch a dream and start controlling it, I just wanted to get there, no matter what, especially since all of my normal dreams were based off my waking life, waking up, having breakfast, going to the bathroom, leave to school, return and wake up to do it all over again. What I did, I tried every once in a while to remain concious while falling asleep (WILD) but would always fail, the other thing I did was trying to find differences between the waking world and the dreaming one, but it was very hard and whatever I tried, would always fail too. The number of RCs I tried is just so high, that I don't bother with the common ones anymore.

After I read about lucid dreaming for the first time, I had a lucid that night, so one day. I have had lucid dreams in the past, though they were unintentional.

My first time was a DILD, before I even really knew about LDing. After I decided to get into it my first DILD was about 3 weeks in. I've only WILDed once, and not very well, I tried to change too much and closed my eyes to help, then opened my real eyes... From now on I'll try spinning.

I got out of practice for about two years, and am now just getting back into LDing, I had a DILD a few nights ago by accident, but haven't had another since I started trying.

I'm optimistic though, especially having a community for support now. And I think I'll try WILDs and WBTBs more now that I've got more info on them.

Fourth day in I had 2 LD's. That was the first time I did WBTB. First one was the best so far - I had full control of the scene, I changed it in moment without even using doors or anything. Second - I had no control whatsoever, I was only lucid. But it was still very enjoyable.
In first I became lucid without RC or dream signs, I just randomly thought "wow, I'm dreaming". And in the second one feeling of falling down (I was riding roller coaster) triggered lucidity, I guess it can be considered as a dream sign? Inner feeling?
