Well learned young Jedi! |

Something that I learned over the months, is not to mention my dream activitys to teachers, even if your being honoest about what you did that weekend. I told one of my teachers about my lucid dreaming and decided to give her up dates. She got concerned that I was "loosing" my sense of reality. Funny how people don't worry as often about video games, even tho they are the same thing only one has more control. Anyone that thinks should realize that it is just a teen and his new video game. She thinks that ill stop being able to tell dream and reality. Funny how lucid dreaming involves being able to tell the difference better then anyone else, yet some people don't get that. Same person who thinks I have delusional thinking, just becuase I believe that a persons reality is simply perception and that true reality in itself cant be grasped by the human mind, becuase its programed to think with a film over it, that it cant funtion without that film. What I learned is that people especially athority figues worry when people do anything that is considered weird and that effects the brain. Also....Why do some people consider adults with thought processes like what i said above as a possible geniuse yet a kid or teen who thinks like that makes them worry? |

Ha, I know what you mean. I've told people about lucid dreaming, and some just look at me like I'm crazy. I guess lucid dreaming is just not some people's piece of cake. |

"Dreams are real while they last. Can we say more of life?" - Havelock Ellis
Same here.Whenever I try to talk to my friends how great it is,they either dont care,or think that im going delusional and need some help.Even my family thinks im crazy for doing it.Which is why im glad we have dreamviews. But it would sure be nice to talk to someone about it who likes it too. |

A much simpler (and in my opinion, more reasonable explanation) is that these people are not trying to keep you clinging to them as authority figures, rather they have been raised under a strict set of beliefs, and anything that conflicts with that is unacceptable, wrong, insane or stupid (and possibly many other things). Most people have some things like this. If you want to see if you do, just think about some of your core beliefs, and think "could I be wrong about this? Why do i believe this? What evidence is there for this?" If you're just saying anything like: "no", "because my parents(or others) told me so", or "i just believe it", then you're probably one of these types of people, regardless of whether or not you are "open minded" to lucid dreaming or other things. |
Well, I don't know if it's what happened in this instance, but I maintain that unimaginative people who hold high positions don't like to encourage free thinking or inner exploration. |
I used to think that being able to induce lucid dreams was something that i thought unreal like witchcraft. But since I proved it was real to myself, I now question what else I could be wrong about. There you have it, the thing that stated my "delusional thinking". |
Lol discussing dreams to a teacher is like telling them you've got illegal immigrants living in your backyard. I like to keep things to myself. |
Two years later, I'm back. LUCID COUNT RESET, HERE WE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-
The most important thing is to not question it, either. |
some people have very poor imagination! my imagination was pretty poor before i found DV |

This is one of the biggest problems with lucid dreaming. People don't understand that it is scientifically proven and unquestionably been found to be a very real phenomenon. It's great that you proved it to yourself, but the proof is already there, you probably just didn't know. People who lump lucid dreaming in with "witchcraft" are simply ignorant to this fact. But unfortunately, most people are not aware that lucid dreaming is not some pseudo-scientific subject, new age unsubstantiated phenom, or magical delusions. Mainstream science does not question the existence of lucid dreaming. The more people understand this, the better. Sadly, lucid dreaming also seems to come packaged with lots of other things that inspire skepticism, and rightly so...as these things, unlike lucid dreaming, are not proven to exist (shared dreaming, astral projection, etc.). |

I told my mum about it and she doesn't believe it and thinks I'm a bit strange lol |
I've found over time that the best thing to say to others about LD'ing is nothing at all. |
Yeah. Its funny how little people care about a land of infinite possibility. |
People people people. No matter what the topic they always argue Why cant thee be peace, theres no way way of telling someones intent over the internet unless they out right tell you. By the way many people around me seem to think that just becuase someone like a teacher or a doctor is right, just becuase they are in charge. Despite being in charge, or an expert in something, they are still human and are likely to do and say dumb things, or be wrong, just like the rest of us. It seems like some people follow and adopt an athoity figures way of thinking without asking themselvs "Hmmm, why do I believe what I believe. |
I fully agree, Fred. I found out the really hard way that, even though people have their "degree" in whatever, most of them don't know what they are talking about. Honestly, most of them are only looking to make money (i'm talking mostly about doctors here). But teachers, psychiatrists, doctors, cops etc. really don't have much more of a clue than your average Joe (if not less of a clue, since they think their views are flawless and have a masters degree to prove it). |
Ok, so I guess you were just messing with me when you said my post was ridiculous? And since it's your sig, does it mean all of your posts are just messing with people? Or is that just there so when you say something sarcastic you can always back out by saying "Did you read my sig (insert condescending title here)?" |

I actually just remembered this. Last year my drama teacher started talking about lucid dreaming and I almost went CRAZY. I had to contain my excitement about the topic. |
Awesome! I was reading a book a while back called Impro - apparently it's a real classic for any kind of drama students. And the author talked a lot about HI and HH and various hypnotic states and dreaming as a bridge to the subconscious etc. I don't think he really delved into actual lucid dreaming, but it was close enough to trip me out a bit!! |
