Hi, I'm AscendedSleeper. I learned about lucid dreaming initially by watching a television program (I don't remember what it was) which mentioned it (I don't remember what the show was). I started seriously attempting to lucid dream about a year and a half ago, and lurked here for a few months before joining. My short term goals are generally dream control related while my long term goals are lucidity related.

      Short term:
      -Control lightning
-Win in a fight against a nightmare character (from a specific dream which unsettled me for a while) and ask why they are there
-Become better at maintaining clarity while changing scene
      -Improve at shapeshifting
      -Meet my "dream guide"
      Long term:
-Have at least one lucid dream every two days.
-Find an effective way to deal with aggravating dry spells

From my experience it is hard to talk to a lot of people about lucid dreaming. Whenever I bring the subject up it seems to get dismissed rather hastily, about 90% of the time, meaning that motivation and excitement has to be toally self driven, which can be very hard at times!
I totally identify with this. It is saddening to me that such a vast array of misconceptions about dreams exist in modern society. Some don't seem to comprehend that dreams can actually feel real and vivid, and dismiss the concept of lucid dreaming before they truly understand what it is.

There have been times when I was tempted to quit, but I am extremely glad I never did. Lucid dreaming is worth the effort, so don't give up.

Hi, im interested in lucid dreaming for many reasons: I mean think about it, you are in a completely real feeling, breathing moving world with interactions and all sensory stimuli but its all created inside your brain. I love the sense of thrill and the elusiveness of lucid dreaming, but I hate how much effort has to be put in (for some of us) to become lucid regularly in my dreams.

I had a period lasting 2-3 weeks, where I would have a lucid dream almost every night, tripling my total LD count, but now I have ran into a dry spell and have been lucid once in the past week (which is still alot for some people) but my short term goal is to get back to that period where I would just wake up in the middle of the night, go to the washroom, and come back to sleep and become lucid via DILD, or get lucky and accidently stay aware long enough so that I have a WILD. I believe lack of motivation, as well as stress and pressure to do good in my senior year of highschool (to get into a good university) has held me back, and I hope to get past this dry period

My long term goal is to be able to WILD willingly whenever I want, to develop a technique that works best for me so that I can become lucid via WILD both during WBTB, afternoon naps, or even at night. A lot of my WILD'ing can be attributed to luck, because Im still not sure what it is that makes me aware very quickly before I enter a dream (AKA my anchor), as usually during my WILDS, I will just lay in bed normally and will randomly become aware of my thoughts and fall into SP, another long term goal is to be able to LD every nigth I want to, and to improve my dream control/recall to the point where I dont have to even try, it comes naturally.

Hi, i'm Sam, from sunny Bournemouth England. I spent the first 21 years of my life with what I can only describe as tunnelled vision. Spending all my time living life but not really examining it. I could of told you more about solving an equation or the life processes of a distant star than I could tell you about my own mind. I became very miserable and depressed. Since I have been paying a lot attention to inner life and spirituality. I don't believe or Gods or that humans have any control over the material world but the complexity revealed in the mind when you truly look at it is staggering.
My attraction to dreams I mostly due to their elusive nature from my perspective. I've always been poor at dream recall. Getting slowly better now. Also, in my opinion, spending 7-8 hours of every day of my life completely uncognizant seems a terrible waste. Through exploring my dreaming mind I will claw back as many hours of experience as I possibly can. If I could reach a stage of 1hr of vivid, aware, lucid and most importantly, remembered dreams a night then I would essentially be 'alive' for 7hrs extra a week. 364 hours a year. Closing ones eyes in the morning and then opening them in the morning is not truly living.

"For man, the unexamined life is not worth living." -Socrates
"When you look into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you." - Nietzche

LD count stands at 0, but we all start somewhere.
