Yeah, basically you are trying to create a habit that you do on a subconscious level so it is instinctual to a level where you do it in a dream and get the thought that it is a dream and become lucid, I see the possibility. What I do is stay visually aware of what is in front of me and in a dream when I become aware of what is in front of me, I somehow realize that it is a dream. Works for me.

Is there something significant about walking through a doorway that can translate into knowing you are dreaming? I'm thinking since you see a new room or area when you go through a door, you could then try visualizing some new space and looking back through the door to see if it's different from where you remember just walking out of. If I were going to start a habit of reality checking, I would remind myself to do it in situations where I have something to read nearby, because when I'm dreaming text never stays the same when I look back at it.

I think it was Stephen Laberge who originated the technique. It turns out that it can be harder than you think... When a friend and I tried it we always ended up realizing at the end of the day that we forgot to RC so many times. We quickly got better at it and it seems if you make a point to do it every single time you pass through a doorway, you begin to train your awareness so that it is strong enough to catch the moment that you are in a dream. I definitely recommend it!

RC when walking through doorway is mostly used as a reminder to yourself to RC. Same as a sticky note would remind you. Second use for it is that when you walk through a doorway in your dream, it may trigger an idea for you to RC, just as an dream sign would.

But RCs by themself don't get you lucid. What get's you lucid is an awareness question you ask yourself during day "wow, am I dreaming?". Then you RC to confirm. With the question and RC you have to believe, that you are dreaming and the RC will work. More here in Collection of techniques for DILD.

i found it very dificult to remind myself, its very challenging to do this RC.

you need to do a good awareness training because its so easy to miss doorways

i think this RC might build our awareness/ critical mindset to a very high level. im all for it !
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

Yeah, I suppose that would work for a lot of people because it can be a common dream sign. I see no reason why I would do it though, just me, because I never walk through a doorway in a non lucid dream. I guess my dreams just skip that part.
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.
