      Your Most Effective Reality Check

      for me it's plugging my nose and trying to breathe through it. it's easy and quick during waking life and it's gotten me lucid in dreams so many times. how about you guys?

      I'd say the finger through hand is fairly fool-proof for me. My most common RC is looking at a computer screen and seeing it malfunction. It seems to happen quite alot in my dreams, things like the volume buttons not orking or the keyboard makes no sense etc.

      When I can fly or move things with my mind, but its not really an RC so much as a Dream Sign, although I do use them to RC if I think I'm in a Dream.

      My RC is "Am I dreaming" and I don't answer, I just wait and look around to see if I am dreaming. I go about my day still wondering. I don't ever say "I am not dreaming". I might say "I recognize this as the real world but you never know..."

      Your most effective RC is all day awareness? Does that count?

      As for me, finger counting works wonders.

      passing through solid objects, either my whole body or just my hands. i've never tried this in real life. just in dreams. (thank goodness, it would hurt!)

      Humm... You are right that it is not an actual ''reality check'' but I do become aware of whether I am dreaming or not. If I dream and I simply ask ''Am I dreaming?'', I instantly know that I am... So I don't know if it counts... (And yes, it is part of my all day awareness technique)

      I WILD nap with headphones on(with some binaural beats for relaxation), when i take them off sound remains for a while, which works as a good RC for me, considering i sometimes 'miss' the moment of shift to false awakening(Almost all of my WILDs start like that).
      Works fairly well so far for me.

      xtremeguy yea i practice it during the day if you're asking me. whenever i think to do it. i try to remember to do it every time i make a transition to a new room and especially after i wake up from a dream.

      Mine is nose pinch. I cannot recall ever being failed by it.

      I use mostly the nose pinch and looking at my hands. I use both, because the nose pinch as failed me a couple of times.

      Viewing my hands seem to be the most effective and basically flawless RC, and It seems a lot of people agree. I also consider mirrors and clocks. Keeping track of time and perceiving the appropriate reflection in the mirror is difficult for me to do within a dream.

      Definitely plugging the nose and breathing for me!

      Just tried 'looking at the hands' RC in WILD nap and it worked, gonna be my secondary RC i guess in case i get lucid w/o headphones and/or as stabilization RC.
