      Someone controlling my dream?

Every time I go to sleep or take a nap I start dreaming and I can see myself moving and all but I'm not the one moving myself. And when I wake up I guess I start hallucinating and I start hearing voices and I was able to talk to them back too. Is it possible for someone to be able to control my dream by lucid dreaming about me? Honestly I don't understand why but whoever is doing this they are basically watching me 24/7. I would get these weird feelings on my nose, cheeks, my eyeball, hair, and my neck. I just need some help. Thanks!

It's not scientifically proven that anybody else can control your dreams. The mind is capable of moving you around and/or giving you strange experiences as it tries to get it's point across to your conscious mind through symbolism. The hallucinations you experience are called hypnopompic hallucinations which are normal.

If you want to get rid of the weird feelings and uncontrollable movements, the first step is to try to figure out why the subconscious is making you experience these things. It is likely trying to get a point across. Once you figure out and acknowledge the point to satisfy the subconscious, these things will likely disappear. If you want to get rid of the hallucinations, try moving a limb during an occurrence to let the body know you're awake.

Hello and welcome. The first part you describe about seeing yourself in the dream but not being in control sounds relatively normal to me... Non lucid dreams aren't controlled anyway, they just tend to give us the illusion that we are in control. If the dream is specifically making you feel like you have no control, my personal thought is it could be related to anxiety about a real life situation.

Just a stab in the dark about the hallucination after waking up, I wonder if that's a false awakening and you're actually still dreaming. Or probably more likely it's just a product of the in-between stage of exiting a dream and coming back into the real world (as Dolphin said about hypnopompic hallucinations). I think some people experience that more than others, and there have been times where I've heard things in my head as I'm waking up from a dream or I've been interrupted during a reply in a dream and blurted something out loud in real life that doesn't make any sense.

It's highly doubtful to me that someone else is controlling your dream, but I wouldn't put it outside the realm of possibility because we just aren't sure. Some people do believe it's possible but I tend to think it isn't.

Thank you very much on replying on my post I really needed some answers.

Yeah I just figure it out. It seems that someone dream invaded me and basically trying to prevent me from lucid dreaming. She said that I don't deserve to lucid dream. Who the hell does this?? >_>

I'm not saying it's impossible (although I personally don't believe it is possible) that someone tried to prevent you from having a lucid dream, but maybe it was your own mind that said that? I think it's likely that there's some doubt somewhere in your mind that you can have a lucid dream, and this is just a manifestation of that. IF this is the case, I suggest you have more confidence on yourself and on what you can do.

Actually, even if you're right and there IS someone doing this to you, my advice remains the same. It's YOUR dream, you know? You take control of it and don't let anyone else control it!

I don't know to be honest. Cause right now I can hear a voice that not even my voice that is talking in my head right now. I guess I'm hallucinating but when I fell asleep earlier the dream I had I was like moving on my own. I tried and I tried but it seems like someone is really trying to prevent me from lucid dreaming. I mean who does that really? I mean this has been going on for a while and it even made me not want to sleep at times. :\

Well this isn't the direction I expected this thread to go. Did you talk to someone in waking life who said they were blocking you? Whose voice are you hearing while awake and what's it saying?

Could be, but he said it's been going on "a while" so one thing I'd like to rule out is that it may be triggered by medication. Longdu, were you prescribed any new medicine around the time this all started, or stop taking any? Other drugs used for more recreational purposes might bring that out also.

Heh sorry I just wanted to know if something like this ever happened to someone else.

No I haven't been taking any drugs at all. I wish I can believe it's some hardcore hallucinations but it has been reoccurring every single day so I'm not sure what to believe.

No need to apologize, just trying to help you figure it out... Can't say I've had anything quite like that happen to me. I don't know why anyone would want to keep you from lucid dreaming if that's possible or who would try.

Well last night was pretty bad. I think someones is astral projecting and like stalking me cause I remember reading about astral projection and that you can actually like stalk and mess with someone in real life while you're sleeping.

      Sure, it is this guy:

      antasma_by_neoz7-d6dzua2.jpg

Nah, just joking. Try to do this before you go to bed:

I can recommend you to visualize a bubble of white light around you. Imagine that only positive energy can enter your bubble, only white light. Visualize as well that your energy will flow out from the bubble only at your will. This will help you feel more of yourself and if whatever entity in the astral realm is messing with you, it won't anymore.
Click the door... and welcome to my dream world!

I'm pretty sure that if you randomly hear hallucinated voices then you should find out if you have schizophrenia. I don't know much about schizophrenia but yeah hallucinations during waking life isn't normal unless you're on hallucinogens.
Oh and astral projection is basically glorified lucid dreaming. I would take anything you read about "Astral Projection" with a grain of salt.
And I'm also almost certain that you can't invade someone's dreams.

You actually can hallucinate for a while immediately after waking up, or if you're really sleepy. Especially if you're sleep deprived. Your mind needs a certain amount of REM sleep, and if it doesn't get it you'll start to experience microsleep episodes, where you sort of zone out briefly and have little mini-dreams with reality interwoven. And if you're in a sort of half-dream state much of the time, (as from sleep deprivation) you can definitely experience the hypnopompic hallucinations like your skin being touched etc at random times.

** Ok, just read the rest of the thread. Who's the guy that worte a few books on lucid dreaming and went into the more spiritual side of it? I think it was him who said that many lucid dreamers (or rather attempters) get a voice or a figure telling them they're not ready yet, and they need to make some adjustments to their attitude or personality first? Like they're not mature enough yet, and need to grow up a bit before they can handle it or something. Am I wrong, or did LaBerge also say something about a lot of dreamers experiencing this as well? Maybe dreaming of being in front of a committee who decides if they're ready yet for lucid dreaming, or for the next step in their lucid adventure?

You're welcome. You must mean the sleep deprivation thing, because you responded before my final edit.

Yeah, times when I've been pretty sleep deprived I seem to get into a pretty weird almost hallucinatory state frequently. And I can at times have sort of daydream conversations with whoever I want to. I mean, it's totally imaginary, I set it up and decide who I want to talk to, and I know they're not real, just in my head, but at times the voices can come on their own, and seem totally real. They just make brief statements - usually reflecting my own state of mind at the time, like very negative and insulting remarks at times. And I don't think I'm schizophrenic or anything.

Well this is the 3rd time I've woken up and to be honest. I'm sure there is someone with a group of people that are messing with my head. Cause I can actually hear them talking about me right now as we speak and all they do is make fun of me and call me names. I was imagining about a keyboard in my head and I typed in my head for them to leave me alone and all I remember is seeing in my head "LOL."
I just want this to stop..I've been staying up till about 5am-6am just because of this. I mean I wish I can believe this is a hallucination but it keeps reoccurring and the same voices come back. I feel like anything I do will effect this and since they are able to see everything I do. Basically I think my mind is still stuck in the dream..I don't know if that's possible but I'm just fed up with this.

I really think this goes deeper psychologically than just dreaming. I believe you may have schizophrenia (Or something similar), schizophrenics usually hear voices that aren't their own or what seems like a seperate entity but these voices aren't a seperate entity. Schizophrenics get delusioned about these things thinking it may be something else, but it's all in the mind. There aren't people watching you (All in the mind), you really need to see someone, a doctor perhaps, tell them. This seems way too far from just dreaming.
      Please, get yourself some help.
Schizophrenia can get worse as time progresses, even young children can develop schizophrenia. I really think you should go and see someone, you said you tried to commit suicide over this, this can't be sleep deprivation, it wouldn't last this long. Take care!

^ Yeah, gotta say I agree with this assessment. If you honestly believe there are people controlling your dreams and who can 'see' everything you think or do, that's not related to sleep deprivation. Serious paranoia like that is a symptom of some kind of disorder. In my case I never confused the fantasy with reality.

I know right but for some reason the dreams that I have they like go along with the voices that I'm hearing. Again I read on astral projection said that you can spy on someone in real life while sleeping that is what it's getting to me. I wouldn't know how I even got schizophrenia cause no one in my family has it but can someone randomly just get it? I mean they would have to be traumatized in some way in order to get schizophrenia right?

Genetic predisposition is only part of it. I read that while it is much less frequent, but people who do not have a history of schizophrenia may develop schizophrenia as well. However, I am not an expert, and I don't believe anyone on this forum has a license to practice psychiatry over the Internet, therefore I would suggest you seek out a doctor in person, who can figure out whether you have a mental disorder or not. Wishing you all the best.

Ok well this is what I officially think. There is someone messing with me while I am trying to lucid dream or fall asleep. I can hear the voice talking to me in my head and I can talk to it back and it's saying that I don't deserve to lucid dream and that this person is trying to prevent me from sleeping by messing with my nose, touching me barely and making me itch that certain spot, and giving me schizophrenia basically. I don't know if it's possible but they said "it's hilarious" and it sounds like there are more then one person too. I really need to see a doctor..heh..

You really sound delusional (No offense), now that it seems you have such deep delusions i don't know how we'll be able to get to you. Here's how schizophrenia works, NO ONE is giving you these problems, there is no one messing with you, it's just in your head. Those voices can't give you schizophrenia, because you already have it (it seems) and they are just in your mind, you're mind can't just make schizophrenia happen. This might be hard to fathom seeing as you think these voices aren't your own, but they are, and this forum has really nothing to do with these problems, these ARE NOT dream related problems, these are psychological problems, trust me. It might be hard to trust me because you might think i could be lying in the state you're in now but i assure you i'm not. Now, these are not regular hallucinations, these are delusions. It seems now that you think these voices are giving you schizophrenia "and giving me schizophrenia basically", you've some how made a link to the voices causing this, they're not, these voices are just in your mind, these aren't real people, they are just a product of your mind, they are part of the schizophrenia, not the reason you have it. It's good you are starting to realize that this is a big problem "I really need to see a doctor..heh..". This is a step in the right direction, when did this start occurring? How many years?

I'm really sorry if I asked a lot of questions but I really needed answers lol. I deeply apologize. This started happening sometime a year ago I not sure back then it was on and off but now it's like constantly every single day.
