I was wondering how you guys discover Lucid-Dreaming?? |
Hmmm...I guess I discovered it when I was trying to look up techniques for astral projecting on the web a few years back. |
I guess I discovered it twice... My first lucid that I remember happened when I was like 6-8 years old (?). A very long and vivid dream was about to end, and suddenly everything around me collapsed and was white, and then I was falling and landed on the back of a purple T. rex (probably Bernie inspired, but more anatomically correct) in the Cretaceous period. I was overwhelmed by all of that, and suddenly realized this must be a dream... Started looking around in amazement, but seeing the various dinos and ancient plants made my wake up in seconds |
I stumbled upon the World of Lucid Dreaming forum, but after reading everything and discovering that I had to pay to buy the book, I looked on Google for free lucid dreaming books. Somehow I ended up here. |
By escaping nightmares as a kid. By closing my dream eyes I would wake up. Sometimes I could not wake up and realized I could do stuff in the dream (rather than be a puppet dream character). And the rest is.... Well... Years of lazines.. And now I am working hard to get more lucidity! |
Well... as a kid I guess. But I rediscovered it recently through an astral projection book |

Because of my dad I think. He is interested in stuff like this. So he had Robert Monroe's trilogy which I read. So I knew about OOBE first probably. I don't remember if I had LDs before or that I read about it somewhere else. |
I had a recurring nightmare enough as a kid that I learned to identify it as it was happening and was able to wake myself up it. Eventually, this self-awareness and interest in dreams spilled over into non-nightmares, resulting in occasional random DILDs where I enjoyed flying which I probably learned initially from non-lucid dreams. Slowly, I learned that I could induce these DILDs if I intended well enough. Eventually, there came a point where I wanted to learn how to summon girls I liked during my dreams, so I looked up online and ended up here, which I guess is where I learned I doing was lucid dreaming. |
I also learned about it from my father. He introduced me to the concept in my pre teen years, I didn't have a LD until my later teens though. |
I used to love dreaming in general since I was little and my big brother used to lucid dream and OBE as well as experiment with occult secretly. He didn't let me in on lucid dreaming. I eventually stumbled into lucid dreaming while researching alternate realities and reality manipulation. I feel the movie Inception is misrepresenting lucid dreaming to certain extent. I was like "really ? =w-" when i watched the movie. XD |
I have always been really into the concept of transforming into animals, and Googling stuff about it led me to find a lucid dreaming website. |
I heard about lucid dreaming when I was on a website about near death experiences a couple years ago. Experiencing another world/reality inside my own head still just blows my mind! |
Despite of few intense recurring dreams of me jumping out the window to fly away and thumbing my nose at those who chased me, I never gained lucidity. |
The song "Lucid Dreams" by the band Franz Ferdinand. I think I was casually aware of the idea before the song, but the song was the seed that piqued my interest. That led me to ETWOLD and DreamViews. And the rest is history. |

I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.
