What is the hardest part of lucid dreaming for you?

Not really too much to explain here. What aspect of lucid dreaming do you feel you have the most trouble with? I'm just curious to see what is the most difficult for everyone.

Recording in a tangible form. I'm able to remember my dreams, but I never write them down and I've probably missed useful info that way. Just seems to slip my mind.

It's a close one between attaining lucidity and staying motivated for me. Lucidity personally is harder currently since my sleep is an absolute mess. Though it can also be hard sometimes to accurately write down dreams, and I often struggle to either remember the details or think of a way to describe them.

Recall and Documenting aren't much of an issue for me I'm good enough
staying motivated is irrelevant (not a problem for me)
      Stabilization and Control are so/so

leaving: Triggering and Prospective memory as the main issues

I Peak at like 3+ times per week and Trough at like .3 times per week
and I get distracted by targets of opportunity
Sure LUCID DREAMS are all fun and games until someone loses a third eye.

For me, it is definitely going to bed at a reasonable time. It has definitely gotten worse with the years as my LDing gets better. It is kind of like... if I go to sleep every night on time I can keep getting better at LDing, but if I go to bed on time like every other night, I am still gonna LD most nights. :/ I want to continue to get better at LDing, but my main motivation in the past was always having LDs, so it is hard to build up enthusiasm when my motivation is gone.

I am gonna definitely post a more in depth thread about motivation soon. Something I think will help all of us, because when I write threads I work out what I am thinking online and it helps me out a ton.

Used to be staying in the dream, now I find it harder to attain ilucidity though I can sleep like 8,5+ hours a night. Never had problems staying motivated after the experiences Iv had and that I want to have again. Also I have little to no problem with dream control if I get fully aware, though for some reason I now don't seem to remember to do something incredibly mind blowing though I could easily.

Despite my amazing successes over the last few years, I have a hard time staying focused and motivated when I'm stressed. I have a busy life, so my energy feels really limited sometimes. When I'm tapped out, my dreaming takes a back seat, unfortunately. I'm really trying to turn that around right now.

For me, it is staying motivated. Everything else you can train when you keep going, but motivation is simply the premise for all this.
Since starting here, I've counted at least three episodes where I've slowly faded out of my practice and enthusiasm; though keeping my DJ is more easy.

The next challenge is attaining lucidity of course. I think that this poll is influenced by in what "stage" the voters are: you need to have motivation before you can LD, and someone who is still trying to LD won't have problems with dream controll because he isn't there yet.

Frankly, nothing comes easy from what I see. Having one is hard enough....then staying in one longer than a few seconds isnt easy for me. Control is hard too....sure, I can fly or do so other impressive things, but I cant go whereever I want...I seem to be stuck in the given dream scene....not that I am complaining....I see new places in every LD...but if I was the true master I would expect more control.

I'd have to say staying motivated. I can get discouraged fairly easily with this sort of thing... It's not that I can't LD, I've done it quite a few times since 2009 when I first started messing around with it off and on -- of course, nothing compared to some of you guys here who have several a week. But if I don't see results for a little while in my practice, I start thinking I could be using my time for something more productive and I'll slack off on it. Which obviously isn't good for progressing. So when I have a really cool dream and get back into it again (or whatever causes it) I have to basically start all over.

I started in 2009, slacked off sometime in 2010, got back into it pretty big in 2011, slacked off in 2012, got back into it a bit in 2013, slacked off in 2014, got interested again but not fully motivated in 2015, then here and now I'm trying to do it right again. I've always had above average dream recall (at least compared to someone who isn't into dreams) because I've been writing them down since about 2004, so it isn't THAT bad... but it still sucks.

I've been lucid dreaming off and on for fifteen years. The hardest part is staying motivated, since it never came naturally to me. It's actually quite a commitment to do, with low yield. If I could somehow increase that, I'd stick to it.

Definitely getting lucid, going to bed on time, and doing proper WBTB. When I do proper WBTB, I get lucid a lot more frequently. My living situation makes WBTB not practical most of the time (noisy bed partner makes getting back to sleep very difficult, so I prefer just to remain asleep and dream). That will be fixed in about a year when our new place is ready and I'll have my own room/office with a couch to retreat to for WBTB and WILD, etc.
