I've never died in a dream before but I have been shot before. No pain or anything but it became hard to breathe. I also wanted to jump out the window in a lucid I had last night. I didn't. Not because I thought it would end the dream, but I just feared something bad might happen

Multiple times. I embraced death to escape from my nightmares all the time. I knew that if I wanted to the dream to end, I had to die! If only I knew I could control them!

I'd imagine if you jumped of a building, you'd either waake up if you expected to die, or if you didn't think anything would happen, then you'd just.. well I don't know :S
When I was young, I watched this show about this guy jumps off massive towers onto air bags, for world records, and I had dreams about it that night, whenever I hit the ground, I'd wake.

There's another website that has a list of all the ways to wake yourself up from a dream. Same guy who did 1000 things to do in a lucid dream, well I think he changed it to like 10,000 things lol. I have a list of ways id kill myself to wake up. Watch all the Final Destination movies, I think that'll give people some ideas. I was watching number 3 today, and god how much hate the scene where the two girls burn in the tanning beds lol. I was getting the ebey geebies the whole time during that scene.

As a child I have been executed countless times in my dreams, but death is not an option. You simply cannot die in a dream, but I guess you can wake up because you fear for your life.

Edit: I have been shot in the face, I have jumped down 1000m and crushed into the ground. The dream just moves on. I guess you could say you are immortal in your dreams, but only if you believe so.

Belief is strong.

several years ago i shot myself in a dream and died. it was a loud noise, followed by force, followed by purple warmth and a downward sliding sensation into an awakening.

I want to slit my wrists in an LD, I'm curious about the feeling. I actually did this in a non-lucid (after almost really doing it, long story) but it just switched to third person and I was able to see myself in a bath tub full of blood. But anyway, I think it'd be cool to do it and really expect to die, see what it's like to really die in a dream. (I never really 'died' in a dream, I just got a FA and woke up in another LD(just as I expected))

I had a really disturbing dream the other day in which I was kidnapped and escaped and the guy was about to take me again so I shot myself in the head. Strangely I didn't die, i just laid on the ground for awhile.

I'm curious about what you mean by purple warmth.

I've never died in a lucid but died lots of times in non-lucids, I had a recurring nightmare when I was younger that ended with me getting shot in the chest. Every time it felt the same, first the intense physical pain, and then the horrible dark feeling sinking over my body. The worst part is once you wake up and then it takes a few seconds for the feeling to stop. :/

I guess its different for everybody though, some people don't seem to feel pain in dreams but I still think suicide would be a bit of a waste of a dream.

I'm surprised that not really anyone has been able to kill themselves successfully. i've done it before by jumping off a building and once i hit the ground everything turned white and i respawned about ten feet of where i landed, pretty awesome actually

Well, what is dieing in a lucid dream? Waking up? In that case for me, multiple times.
Other times I have "died" and fallen to the ground and it would be as though i had died, incapacitated and not moving, but able to see through my eyes.

I tried a few times to kill myself in a lucid dream but I did never work. I tried jumping off a bridge and jumping in front of a train. I always wanted to stay in the dream after it but I always woke up. I tried to suicide a few times in waking life, too, so I think it's not a big problem for my mind to imagine that... someone can give me a recipe how to comment suicide in a dream without waking up ?

Yeah, all the time when I was 10. Not because I wanted to die, but because I wanted to wake up. I was having nightmares like all children, but the thing is I knew I was dreaming but couldn't do anything. So I just jumped from a higher ground, or get my head into a glass or some sort of dangerous material. I started controlling them when I first saw A Nightmare On Elm Street 2.

I keep acting in a highly illogical way in low-level lucids.. once i was dreaming of climbing the stairs in a building and randomly thought: "Yep, I must be dreaming" and jumped head-first down the staircase.. (I fell quite slow and remained hanging in the air a mere 10cm or so above the stairs) ... anyway... "?!" is the only comment I find appropriate to the situation

I've dreamt that I was dead on multiple occasions. Once I visited my own funeral and everyone was dressed as pilgrims. That was weird.

I have. I jumped from my 15th storey and instead of flying I wanted to see what would happen when I hit the ground.... I woke up..

I would sometimes Before I knew about lucid dreaming, when I was like 9 or so I would do some amazing things that would spark my adrenaline, such as riding my bike off of a bridge(I knew I was dreaming, I wouldn't do that on purpose >.>). I would wake up right before I hit the ground, and I would feel like I'm still falling after I woke up. It was the coolest thing to me back then

I died in a non lucid dream before, and it wasn't suicide. I was on a school bus and my usual bus driver was driving. We all of a sudden started skidding sideways, it was so scary because we were heading right for a house and about to roll, I saw the whole thing coming, it felt so slow. We flipped/hit the house the dream went black. Next thing I knew I was in a different body. I went to my friends at school and talked to them asking, "Do you know Harrison?" And they all responded with something like, "Oh yeah I knew him, but he died in a bus crash." This dream really affected me for a few days.

And I do plan to cause self harm in a future lucid, just for fun.

It depends on the dream I guess, I've had a couple of dreams where I died and all were very different.

I once had a dream where I was shot in the head, I heard a very high screechy beep for a few seconds, my eye vision was really blurry and weird and then I passed out. It actually did hurt and I woke up after I ''died''.

I also once jumped off a building which resulted into a much quicker and less painful death, so if you want to kill yourself in your dream, I reckon that it's best to start with jumping off a building or mountain; it hurts less, although the shock when you wake up is greater. (:

I do it only when I know for sure that im going to die. If I receive a shot in the chest and I don't die then i shot myself so I die faster and I don't suffer. If you read my DJ entry at the end of it I suicide.
