Thread: Rant and Rave, Cry and Complain

The skype channel was formed because members who joined the forum since December 2013 cannot join irc at all. Also, members who have changed their passwords since the last irc burp cannot join irc either. There are other members who can't join for mysterious reasons that I can't for the life of me figure out. And I'm still not getting updates about it from keebali :shrugs: Sorry for all the frustration.

I'll move this to meta when I'm back from vacation and have an actual computer in front of me, unless someone beats me to it.

Blessed Benadryl, I slept like a rock last night. I had tried to sleep off and on all day yesterday but tossed and turned and just felt miserable (after sleeping fitfully from 7PM-2AM yesterday/day before). I took a Bendryl at 11 last night fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow at midnight. I woke on my own at 6:30. I even had some vivid dreams, so it wasn't a "dreamless" sleep- but still thoroughly wonderful.

Gonna eat some pasta.. I'll reply properly in a while. Hope everyone is doing great today.

Yeah there is a term for that, but I forget what it is right now.
It's becoming especially obvious recently with higher inflation. They make food products in smaller sizes, but the price is inconsistent with the size reduction.
For example, they make a 2 dollar product 1/3 of the size, but only reduce the price by 1/4.
And over time they raise the price to the same price as the original product was.

Dodgy as fuck.

Rant: I'm finally getting the hang of Chinese and am able to read most of the sentences in the lectures easily.
I remember the pinyin for the characters and remember what they mean.
But remembering how to write the characters is damn near impossible.
If I see them, I know the pinyin and the meaning, for most of the ones they've taught us so far.

But if they say for example "write the character for 'name'". I'm fucked.

Got a test next week which looks extremely difficult, judging by last year's one.

It really annoys me how there is zero reason for any character being the way it is.
If there was a reason, I could remember them. But there isn't. You just have to memorise them.
Even native, born and bred Chinese don't usually know every character. You just have to learn them as you come across them.

I one time lived with the Chinese and learned most of Mao abbreviation, until then it was worse. The most amazing thing is that some of it has no English translation ......

Today has been very productive. I've done 4 loads of wash and have more going. I climbed a tree to get on top of the trailer to remove some branches from the roof. I've been cleaning my room, watching Hulu and finished the last of my brown plarn *whew* But it's taken 3 caffeine pills to get here and I've only been awake for 9 hours or so.

A rant is that the rest of the house is a friggin pigsty. Destinee cleaned 90% of the bathroom last night. In doing so, she removed a bucket that's been in there for.... sheesh, months upon months. Maybe even closer to a year. Ugh. Miley had water in the bucket from her attempt at cleaning the bathroom when she first got back home. Then she forgot all about it. I nagged and nagged, but the bucket just sat there, close to the toilet. Over the months, people spat in it and threw empty TP rolls into it. I thought I was going to die from the stench when Destinee moved it. So weird that it didn't smell into then.

Another rant is that hubby gave me some banana pudding yesterday or day before. I stuck it in a drawer so I wouldn't have to listen to the kids whine for any.... but then I promptly forgot about it It *smells* okay. I took a few small bites and it *tastes* okay... but I can eat no more of it. Unless Google tells me it's safe. I'm fairly certain it has milk in it though.

One of my dreams last night was about vaping. I was in a store and I saw that a bottle of 51 mg nicotine was a cure for insomnia 51 mg would kill me

Time to hang up some more clothes...

OH GOD IM DRUNK! AND....

For the first time in a long time. I've considered something. Perhaps Marijuana, the THC or whatever, it really just supresses our thoughts. And it's us, our lives, trying to keep going that forces one stream of energy from neuron to neuron, which would explain the fact that your thoguht just goes on these weird tracks and forgets all others.

Sometimes it just seems like .... ugh lol

I feel like I"m announcing something really profound.

I realized that time really does make sense as another dimension. That all of the dimension upgrades; from 0 to 1, from 1 to 2, from 2 to 3... they all take the time so far and extend it among yet another numberline, so they take the whole previous universe and make one of it per every possible number on a number line ranging from 0 to infinity. A dot going to a line, extends along a number line. A line going to a graph, extends among another identical numberline. That to the third dimension extends upon yet another numberline. The third dimension is like the second but repeated infinitely among another numbner line. And the third dimension against time... it goes against another number line too.

Until I came here, I was in a bad mood. Granted, I've only been awake for 5 minutes, but I definitely woke on the wrong side of the bed. My period finally showed up last night before bed.... Look away all you squeamish ones....
My cycle was light so I used a soft cup. They contribute to backaches. I don't know how or why but they do. ... But tampons tend to make me ill if I use them for my entire cycle. ... But wearing pads feels like wearing a friggin diaper and I'd rather have a backache or feel sick than wear one of those!

I woke with a backache and a headache... and to my bird complaining very loudly. I shut him out for as long as I could, but he woke me in the end.
At some point last night, I woke up enough to turn on a lamp. I have to either kneel on my bed to reach it or stand up. The lamp has a short in it somewhere so it goes through phases where it turns itself on and off. It was shining brightly when I woke, but I don't know if it was misbehaving while I slept or not. Maybe that put my bird in his bad mood.

hehe, I just put my bird in a good mood. I was absentmindedly humming "Hey brother"... only, I lowered the octave (I can reach the top three bass notes and lower notes in general are easier for me).
Birdie is so silly. He loves the deeper voices of males (birds are supposed to like higher pitches more).

hehe, if you're a virgin, I'd stick with the pad. I was scared to use anything too (even though I broke my hymen at age 7 when I slipped while walking across the monkey bars. The bar got me right on the crotch )

I LOVE the rain. I'm going to be doing laundry again all day today because we're going to be getting thunder storms for the next couple of days I have so much laundry to do it's ridiculous. Not all of it is stuff I wear either. I'm washing some clothes that were squirreled away in corners and boxes. I'm hoping to turn some of them into material for rugs. The rest will be shipped off to Goodwill.
It takes so friggin long to wash clothes though because my washer is old and starting to fail. I would run it through "Damp Dry" twice because the washer doesn't like to drain all the water the first time around. But now I'm starting to rinse twice and dry 3 times because *ugh* there always feels like there's residue on my clothes after washing them. They *feel* dirty even though they smell clean

Blah! I am now obsessing over edible plants lol. When I went outside to hang up a load of clothes, I noticed some wild onions growing. I dug into the ground with my hands to see if I could find the bulb (mainly to see if it has one lol), but I got impatient and just pulled it up. The stem tastes overpowering, but the top is very nice. You smell these all the time as people mow their lawns.
I went to look up info on them and just found a bunch of stuff about Ramps (it a wild onion/garlicy sort of plant). Ramps are gross, lol, but a lot of people rave about them.
I found a YouTube video with some guy foraging through his yard and eating things as he went along. Doesn't he realize the locals dogs probably peed all over that stuff? Wash it first, guy

But I learned something new. When I was a kid, I was like him and just picked things and ate it. I LOVED "clovers". They were sour but yummy. Only, they're not clovers after all but something called Wood Sorrel. I wonder if they're related to clovers. Gotta consult the oracle I think I might try Dandelion salads this year. We get acres of the stuff.

Glad you find that stuff interesting too Zhaylin! I know of several good books on the subject if you're interested. I love sorrel too, and if grows everywhere so all the better. People also make dandelion wine if that sounds appealing, just make sure that you actually do have dandelions... I'm sure you know but I didn't, lots of plants around here look somewhat similar.

And Anju, yeah, I'd recommend pads if you are uncomfortable with that. I was the same way for a while, had to work up to fingers and then the tampon. Main secret is just to relax, and some ways to put it in seem to be easier than others, so if you're having trouble try a different position.

Boo, being sick. At least I don't seem to stay sick for too long. I had off Friday night, so I just lounged around and did a bit of cleaning. Woke up with a slight sore throat, but thought nothing of it. Saturday morning I went out biking, but it was still a bit cold (~45°F) which makes biking hard for me. Something about breathing in lots of cold air when doing cardio? I dunno. So I didn't stay out long. Got home, lounged around for another hour and planned to go to bed.

Then my sore throat got way worse, headache, light-headed, upset stomach (no puking, thankfully), and my face was burning. Fever symptoms? Maybe just a mild one. I couldn't fall asleep for any reasonable amount of time, so I basically just lay in bed for 12 hours. Woke up, made a salad, ate half of it, and went back to bed. Again 12 hours later I got up, made something more to eat, then sat on the couch watching youtube videos for a bit. I've been drinking tons of water the entire time. Feeling better now. The headache and lightheadedness are still lingering a bit, but I can't complain too much, if that's it. I'd probably even be able to manage working tonight, but I think I'm going to call off and take one more day to rest.


So hopefully I'm done now for the year (with getting sick).

Yeah i was like that too, i never used tampons even when i was a virgin, i got so used to pads that i started to downgrade my judgement of tampons....like what if i am in a very heavy day and it doesn't protect much and falls off easily, and another fear was if it will get stuck in there and i did hear horror stories about women forgetting to take it out and died from the poison the tampon had.
Plus the cups i don't even know if i will use them LOL while i avoid tampons, cups is another thing i need to think about also.

Thanks Zhaylin. I barely remember writing that. The lack of likes reveals the general response wasn't as pleasant as yours. I did drink too much. And I've done nothing today even though it's already 3 pm. Haven't even left my room. I have to go shopping for a family gathering tomorrow (Passover I think) and don't even know what to wear. Sometimes they dress casually, other times the women are wearing dresses, so I fear either being overdressed or underdressed.

What about just getting thin ones while waiting? There are some that are really thin, pretty much just pantyliners, that you can barely feel, but they're enough to avoid stains until you realize you have it, at which time you can just go into a bathroom wherever you are and put on a 'real' pad.

Yes i SO understand, i recently had non-stop colds off and on and in the end major bad coughing, i had to get medicine to clear me up because usually before this year i never had bad colds, only minor colds that could last like 2 days and no more.
Today i'm close to getting rid of the cold, then what happens?...i get a stomach flu....all i did all day was drink tea and NO eating what so ever, i took a nap and the stomach pain resided and hopefully will get better tomorrow. And yes i am SO done with colds and bring on the summer!

NewArtemis, I absolutely love learning about this stuff.... but I'm horribly lazy and rarely leave the house. I love the outdoors but just can't be bothered I'm going to try to change that this year. These last couple of days have been a great start. I just need to stay on track and also not try to do too much at once then overwhelm myself and quit. My greatest love is wild mushrooms. I do have a book on those. It was $36. or something- full of color pictures and great info. But then I learned if you pick a wrong one, you might not get sick right away. Years later, you just die from kidney failure. What the heck? I was doing a tiny taste test. I'd pick a mushroom with no poisonous look-a-likes then take a tiny nibble, then wait a couple days before trying more.

Sefalik. Hope that is the last of the sickness! If it is, boy did you get off easy

Hathor, don't try the cups if you're squeamish. They are intensely messy. If you bear down before removing it, most of it empties into the toilet- but not all of it. They take a bit of getting used to- especially positioning, but I definitely prefer them.

My rant is also a rave. I'm exhausted. I can barely lift my arms enough to type I got three loads of wash done and dried outside. I would have done more but it felt like it was going to rain.
When I brought in my last load, the temp had cooled some so I decided to sweep some of the driveway. ugh. The entrance gets covered in thick dirt and gravel and it was nearly impossible to sweep. I only got about 1/3 done in around 40 minutes! I went inside red faced and sweat drenched. blec. I should sleep perfectly tonight!

Another rant is that my kids aren't doing crap in the house. The kitchen is absolutely filthy. I told them if they don't get it done before I go shopping, they'll be eating Ramen all week. I mean, that's not much worse than how they eat now lol *sigh* but they really hate Ramen. Too bad. And, of course, everyone says it's not "their" mess. I don't care. You want to eat? You want tobacco? Get up and clean. Even their rooms are disgusting. Miley's too lazy to walk to the back of the house so she has several 2 liter bottles filled with pee. Seriously? I have my "chamber pot" for emergencies or for when the pipes freeze, but I take care of it. I don't leave it lying around like trophies

Rave is that hubby sent me out for Chalupa's (God those things are so friggin yummy) and he actually told me I loved nice. *faints* I literally cannot remember the last time he said anything nice about my appearance. That really brightened my evening

My rant is that I got a blister from sweeping. It's on the finger I wear one of my wedding rings on. Hubby got me 3.. 2 engagement and one actual wedding band (he got the three because they look great together). After I broke my wrist and was a breath away from having them cut off, I stopped wearing them. But then I put on one. The other 2 I put in an end table I kept near my bed.
I had to move the end table out into the Master bedroom. I didn't think anything about my rings. In all honesty, I've not thought about them in years and would have remained oblivious if not for that blister.
Destinee moved that table into her bedroom and cleaned it out. She never brought me my rings. My child is a cleptomaniac (sp) so now I fear for those rings. When she gets home from her weekend at her boyfriends, she'll tell me she has no idea what I'm talking about.



And I'll let it go because maybe I did put those rings somewhere else. Or maybe one of her friends who stayed with her swiped them.
Hopefully I'll be surprised and she'll tell me she put them somewhere else... and then I'll feel guilty for thinking the worst of her.

That will be a battle for tomorrow night though. For now, I am going to bed.

My sex life is going to get more interesting it seems. Fascinating how life does that.

Yeah..That's what scares me more than breaking the hymen. A tampon getting stuck inside!

I didn't have to. It started within a few hours after I wore the pad, like it happens every time.

Haha, good day today. I've done a presentation in front of the class and managed to get a few laughs out of a few classmates. I was nervous before (especially about talking in Maori for part of it) but I fucking nailed it!

Also, at dinner just now, my step-mother tried talking me out of using alarms for WBTB. I was a bit angry at her, then my step-brother came to my defense; he's a lucid dreamer too! Over the dinner table we talked about techniques and all that jazz (he says he WILDs and that I'm training myself up to have DILDs again). Everyone else was shocked at this. Step-sister, who is as grounded into reality like her mum, says, "But you won't sleep normally. You'll toss and turn and that's not good," then I say, "Duh, sleep paralysis." (I know it's REM Atonia, but SP sounded more better at the time.) That shut 'em up.

Then I muttered under my breath, "Muggles!" Oh man, didn't expect someone in my own house to be another LDer. So yeah, today was awesome!

That's so cool to have other LDers in the family! I hate having to hide things. My parents' house is a no-privacy zone. When I was living with them, I made up a code language to write my DJ which they couldn't read. If they could, they would have taken me straight to the psychiatrist like they take my sister every time she does something they don't understand or approve of. Now I have no worries.. Living alone is bliss! ^_^

Well, he's not really family, but it's still cool haha.

What? A no-privacy zone? Gosh, that sucks! I would probably be sent to the psychiatrist at least ten times if I lived there; my weirdness shows. Good to hear you're living alone now and able to keep your secrets.

Why don't you then? Tonnes of resources online. In fact I've learned next to nothing from the actual classes.
Duolingo is pretty good, but only had spanish and german and something else last time I went on there. Youtube is good for just learning to speak a language.

I studied yesterday and the last couple of hours today, but it's so damn annoying.
Constantly come across characters that I can't remember at all.
I know maybe 20-30 now though, and based on the test from last year, I might be able to pick up
some of the characters from other questions, since it's easier to remember them when I see them.

Definitely not going to do well, but I think I should be able to at least pass.
Definitely won't be as bad as the first test lol.
That was after two weeks, but I'd missed the first week coz of changing enrolment.
I got probably the worst mark anyone who has ever taken a test has gotten. 0.5 out of 10....
I laughed so much when I got the result. Teacher probably thinks I'm retarded or something lol

Today I went running and stopped for a while, then I stood there and yelled from the top of my lungs. It felt good. Two older women stopped and were looking at me, I didn't give a fuck though. Released a lot of tension in my face and it felt like my posture and personality shifted for a little while, I felt more relaxed.
