After trying out this tablet monitor for close to a month now, there was some issue with it that I couldn’t put into words. Part of me was trying to justify that it’s just a graphical issue with having a laptop that has intel graphics and NVIDIA graphics causing conflict with giving a full color range with HDMI output. Then, I noticed this extreme color banding on the screen, which took me some time to really figure out it was the case. I tested it on two of my laptops that aren’t anything to sneeze at in terms of graphics, and I get the same results. I also tested it through a relative’s computer that has a different company’s graphics card, and it confirmed that it’s just the monitor itself.

I was kind of pissed off, and when I informed the company about it, they offered to give a replacement, or a refund. But the fact that they can’t give a viable solution with their drivers just shows this monitor in particular was an experimental one vs. the bigger screen version that seems to alleviate the color banding (presumably). But instead of complaining to them, I accepted their feigned kindness in giving me discounts for better displays, but I didn’t accept the actual offer. I didn’t want to take the risk, even though I’ll be getting my money back either way.

I decided to purchase a Yiynova 20U monitor instead. Don’t get me wrong, the other tablet monitor I have is good in terms of performance, but that color banding and posterization is just an eyesore. I just hope that I’m going to be lucky, and have a monitor that has no banding whatsoever. If I can just get that, I can finally get back into digital art again. It’s definitely challenging finding something other than a Wacom Cintiq that you can feel assured will last you for years.

Different tangent: I had a dream where it felt like a relative won the lottery, and we were thinking what we would do with the money, but it never felt like we were getting anywhere. The last dream I had where I saw a request for something landed me a commission, but this, I’m not sure if it’s anything to shrug off. I feel I have to be on a tight budget vs. random fantasizing about money.
      Signal strength?
Prolly not the same thing but I have an old Dell desktop with a monster graphics card and when it blew an HDD in the middle of the night I went to Walmart and bought a cheapie for the time. They both run run Invida..The old Dell will run both this 20" monitor and a 32" TV at the same time , The newer faster one runs just the monitor alone, I attribute this to what I call Balls!
The newer one is like trying to run a TV off a cell phone, It doesn't have the signal strength..A signal booster might be something to look into...Just saying.

It looks like two of my wisdom teeth are coming in. It doesn't hurt or anything but I can feel them coming through. Now, I know I need to schedule an appointment at the dentist to have it checked it out. But I'm honestly so scared. The last time I went to the dentist was like two years ago. But I feel like she's just doing it for the money. I wasn't experiencing any problems, but yet I had to have four different appointments over the course of two weeks to fix all kinds of stuff lol. So now I'm afraid that if I go there, she'll just tell me that they do need to be taken out, even though it might not be necessary? I just keep putting this off because of my anxiety.

      3. I try to like a post & another error msg.
      4. I must clear all browsing history every day because of the endless Facebook conflict. Not to mention that we can't use the FB feature on here at all. This particular problem has been here for so many months that I have lost track. We need to not be inconvenienced by this persistent problem. I can't leave pages up which is crucial for research. I could use a different browser but that is not an option when I utilize Google Chrome.

My 24 inch monitor I've had for a year and a half (when I actually had money to get stuff before) fell and the screen broke. I've complained about it online to friends quite a bit but somehow I don't actually much in the wake of its loss. I suppose that's a good thing. Not like getting terribly upset over it is going to bring it back or make me feel better instead of worse. I've still complained a bit about it though, like I'm doing now. I really liked that monitor. Damn.

I'm ready for a break. I'm not really ready for the holidays, but a bit of time off work will be nice.

I've been having a lot of fun playing with the band. We did our last show for a bit, and after New Years we will start recording. So I'm excited for that.

I'm horrible at 'dating,' or rather just meeting new people. But I've wanted to for a while now, and signed up on a dating app a little while ago because my social skills are horrible. Had a few conversations but I never knew how to keep them going to the point of actually meeting in person. Then I finally did manage to meet someone in person, and it wasn't bad. But there just wasn't much chemistry, so as much as I would've liked it to work (only because it was the first time I'd been on a "date" in years), I also know not to beat a dead horse and moved on. But a bit later I ended up talking to this other girl, and we met up the next day. We've been seeing eachother just about every other day since then, and I'm really happy with where we're at right now. I'm generally a very private person, but it does feel good to have someone in my life again that I'm really comfortable around.

And work... still meh. The more I learn, but more I like it. But that's the problem--learning the job is just painstakingly slow. I know most of the learning will come from me being on my own and stumbling through the problems by myself, so... do that! Often times it just feels like a waste of time, although recently I've been getting my own projects to work on that are keeping me busy at least. And really, I think within the next month or so I'll be on 2nd shift. I'm ready for that; it's an anti-social shift but it agreed most with my internal clock I think.

      So all-in-all, guess I'm doing good. /rave

Rave: Well I saw Rouge One and I can finally add to the "Yoda Tier" of my ranking of Star Wars movies.

      Yoda Tier:

Empire Strikes Back ~ I know everyone who wants to sound edgy says this movie is the best, but it really is IMO.
Rouge One ~ Dramatic, Action Packed, Moving, And connects to the main story while doing its own thing. (Music is not doing much for me, the one criticism.)

      Darth Vader Tier:

Return of the Jedi ~ Ewoks are dumb, pretty much everything else about this is good.
A New Hope ~ A great movie, the one that started it all.
The Force Awakens ~ A great movie, except it's the same as another movie from this list.

      Clone Trooper Tier:

Revenge of the Sith ~ Pretty much only worth watching for the action scenes. Skip everything else.

      Jar Jar Binks Tier:

Attack of the Clones ~ Talking, talking and more talking, and what fights there are are very boring.
Star wars the clone wars (The cartoon animated one.) ~ Bleh. I hear the cartoon gets good in the later seasons though.
Phantom Menace ~ I liked the pod racing and Darth Maul, and hate pretty much nothing else.

Wait, really? Since when? I always thought Empire Strikes Back was the best as a kid and still do. Given I had to wait like a year or two before encountering a video tape of the Return of the Jedi, being the age I was, I put it up on a bit of a pedestal. I would say then it was easily tied with A New Hope with ESB beating both. Looking at things now, I still like Return of the Jedi more than I apparently should given how bad so many people's opinions of it are. I'd say A New Hope is better, but not by a ridiculous margin or anything. Maybe it has something to do with not having watched it since I was like 13 and I'm 25, lol. But anyway, what's this about finding Empire Strikes back the best... edgy? I'm totally in the dark here, hopefully you can explain why that's the consensus even if it doesn't personally make sense to you. I've watched quite a bit of Star Wars, given I was a kid with a small TV and a VHS player in his room, but I've never really talked about it with any kind of community or had a discussion about it that didn't just entail delighting in how cool something was with my friends a long time ago.

It's just this dumb stigma on some parts of the internet. I remember not knowing it on another site and got trolled by this one guy. Apparently not here, though. I've seen drawn-out fights in the youtube comments about it. (Then again, the youtube comments are a horrendous viper pit where people can fight about anything (relevant XKCD: https://xkcd.com/202/). I think it perpetuates on places like reddit a lot though. I could go on a whole rant about places on the internet that are battlegrounds for trolls and the likes, but we'd be here all day if I got into that...

      Hi everyone. Miss me?

I saw Rogue One and it was meh. BUT, in the movies defense, I'm fighting a kidney infection or something and the movie seemed to drag on forever and all I wanted was my heating pad lol
The ending made me tear up though. It reminded me of Deep Impact (one of my favorite movies).

Life's been same 'ole same 'ole. Nothing to rant, rave, cry or complain much about. Much.
My daughter Zee has been down to visit a couple times which is always great. The trip to Chicago went without a hitch. Mostly, I'm still just crocheting and playing 7Days to Die.

I've missed everyone here. Surprised me to see how slow this thread had been.

      Todays meh...
Hubby is off work for a week. He's going to drive me batty. He insists I wake up at 11AM and then he can't think of anything to do, lol, so we do nothing until the afternoon/evening. Let me sleep in you turkey

Rant- I made a scarf for my step-daughter but I think I made it too thin (I have yet to compare it to mine). I close the ends of the scarf into built in mittens (of a sort). I'm not liking hers at all for some reason. But until I get off my butt and compare my work, I have no idea why. Both scarfs took an entire skein of yarn. Or did I use part of another for mine? I also don't like the stitches on hers. Which means I'm probably going to have to start over from scratch. I can finish a scarf in one day if I push myself, but I'm already burning out of the project (the broken blister on my finger doesn't help matters)

Rant-in-advance: I have to bail my son out. He owes Probation and the court money. If he doesn't pay it by next month, he'll go to jail. They gave him less than a months notice. He's not sure how much he owes. $650. is known, but that's court fees only. I'm going to have to go into debt with hubby again which really ticks me off. I just paid off my computer and I've been enjoying the extra money. I've actually been saving for things I want by putting $20. a week onto a debit card. Amazon Prime was my last purchase ($99.). Saving money has NEVER been my strong point, so I've been proud of that. Next on the list was going to be a bigger bird cage, but who knows when I'll be able to get it now.

Rave: So far, my kidneys feel okay today. I've been laying off the Coke and drinking hot water with honey.

Rant: I still have this cough though. This has been the plague house for almost 2 months now. Everyone's been hacking up their lungs but I've had it the easiest. I usually only cough up gunk for 2-3 hours after I wake up. My daughter, Miley, actually got on antibiotics for her cough so she's finally getting better. This cough is annoying because it's so lingering.
Hubby had it so bad, a couple weeks ago, that I actually had to go to his house and sit with him for a few hours to make sure he didn't die in his sleep. (He was taking too many cough drops, which irritated his ulcer, which caused it blood pressure to go through the roof etc etc etc) He was coughing so much, he couldn't breathe so I recommended a paper bag and it actually helped.

Rant: Dog crap in the house. While I was away in Chicago, the girls decided to babysit a puppy (1 year old on Christmas). The owner never returned for him. He's a great dog (another pit). He'll go potty outside but Destinee is so lazy she just doesn't take him out often enough. Then I have to nag her forever to clean up after him :rage:
Rant: cat crap in the house. That's all on me. We have too many cats (still) and they've been coming inside through the vents to get warm. The bigger part of that rant is that the kids have chore rooms and they're to deal with the crap in said rooms. But they drag their feet and don't clean often enough.

Rave: I'm still in love with 7D2D. I don't think I've ever played a game so much for so long. I have 1600 hours online I've only been playing 2-3 years so that's almost the equivalent of working a fulltime job

Hope everyone's having a great day

Rant: Weather is so sunny, it feels like summer. The blackout curtains were not thick enough. I had to buy extra and layer them to keep the sun out. Also, the drinking water keeps evaporating unless i put it in the fridge.

I hope you get over the winter yuckies quickly, Neo

Anju, I guess that evaporating water helps keep your atmosphere from drying out too much.
I was loving our winter while it lasted. Tomorrow is supposed to be 50 degrees (F)!

Rant-ish: my poor finger and thumb are killing me and I have at least 8 hours of crocheting left I crocheted almst 10 hours straight last night. We're going out to eat with my step-daughter at 11 so there was no point trying to sleep.
Rave: I'm starving, so we can't get to the restaurant quickly enough
Rave: I binged the last 3 episodes of Stitchers (S1) and all of season 2 while I crocheted. I hadn't even realized they kept it around for a second season. Too bad they canned it before the third.

Rant: I'm being a hypochondriac and think I have Giant cell arteritis I'm having an MRA done at the end of the month (for my ehlers-danlos) so hopefully anything else (if anything) will show up with it.

Oh yeah. New development: I now walk with a walking staff. Arthritis was confirmed in my knee and back and I got sick of walking with a limp. I still walk with a limp but at least now I appear a little more interesting When I wear my crocheted cape and hat I'm quite the eccentric sight now-a-days.

      Have a great day everyone.

      Rave: Merry Christmas
Rant: it is going to be 37 degrees C (~99 F) soooo yeah. Normally doesn't get above 30 degrees at Christmas time but this one will be a sauna.

I hope everyone had a great holiday

I don't observe any, so today was just like every other day. EXCEPT, hubby's off work and it was in the mid-50's today and he was feeling restless so he put the kids to work picking up some cans (several bags outside had fallen apart so they needed re-bagged). He and I moved a bunch of stuff from his house to the big garage. And then his daughter joined us at the movies where we watched Passengers. It was actually very good. Even hubby and his daughter liked it- and hubby is VERY hard to please.

Rant: My scalp is killing me today... which furthers my paranoia with Giant cell arteritis. I've also had that strange stabbing pain in my left temple, which has bothered me off and on for 3-4 days in a weeks time. Very weird.
Rave: I've almost finished my step-daughters scarf. If I have any material (and time) left, I might add a hood to it. She's in town until the 2nd, so I have a few days left to piddle about.

For now, though, it's bed time.
      Sweet dreams, DV.

I had a bad dream that there was a handwritten note from an older member that I don't even know at all that read: "To Neo Neo, I missed you. Twoshadows, I wish you were around more. At IBeauty, I-Man, you shouldn't even be a member here, loser. I hate you!"
I guess this is what you get when you are not feeling well.

Rave: I got an Amazon gift card from a co-worker, which was enough for me to get a monitor arm which will help me sit decently since I have a high bed, and the table that’s cramped in my bedroom is a little lower. I had some lower back pain that I presumed was due to that, but whatever the case, I was ‘magically’ better before heading to work. I was this close to call in since I have a lot of sick hours.

Apparently, for my first time doing a Secret Santa, people are already talking about how they’re going to have to fight for me in getting a present after I gave someone a Nook tablet. I was going to give someone my Wacom Intuos Pro Small, but when they told me they had something similar, I decided I should give it to my relative.

It’s been about a week and a half with my Yiynova 20U+RH pen display monitor, and so far, I’m having a better experience than that Ugee product that had horrendous color banding and auto-contrast. I still need to return it so I can get my credit back, and I may save it for the Nintendo Switch. Speaking of which, I’m already pumped up for January 12th for more information on the Nintendo Switch. But due to there being nuances between concrete facts from Nintendo and rumors about the release date of Breath of the Wild, I’m not going to camp in the hype train just yet. Though I have this feeling that there’s going to be something to really reconcile the hype I had for Nintendo since Twilight Princess’ delays and presumed releases back in the day.

      __
When you (this is a general ‘you’) watch someone having to embrace the state of impermanence in their lives, the complete 180 in their disposition becomes horrifying to where you’re wondering why you placed so much value into them when they aren’t going to be themselves for quite some time in the future. I guess the only thing you know you can reign in is yourself and self-progression. Makes me compelled to be more active in dream recall. Not for a distraction, but being grateful that at least within our own cognition, we can always feel like at home no matter where we are. Even nightmares don’t seem as bad anymore to me after this long streak of being indifferent in lucid dreaming these days.

Having to move forward so much, and accept things to be chalked up as ‘whatever happens, happens’ creates a type of dread. And yet without it, I guess one would be paralyzed by embracing change in the first place. Like the feeling of accomplishing something to future-proof yourself in having something to do, but still feeling you’re coming home to disappointment because that end-game strive was easier than you thought it was. I guess that cliché of having to think big goes a long way; when you realize your whole life is going to be a progressive learning curve, if you can’t expand your horizon in doing other things, you will reach a disappointment of yourself at some moment, and you go back in trying to re-evaluate everything you’ve been doing. But there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with that to me as I think it's just a transition to advance.

I didn’t know what to label this section of the post. It’s not really me being melancholic, but rather, ‘I knew this is something to endure, I just didn’t have the strength of mind to be content with it.’

Look at all those wings, IBeauty. You definitely deserve to be here

Link. Hope you're feeling more at peace.
I live in that state of "whatever happens, happens" and (my personal favorite) "it is what it is". I find peace with those though, which is really strange because it actually implies a sort of chaos (the unknown). Chaos is my biggest enemy and dread. Hmmmm...

Rant: Something weird happened while I was sleeping today. I had either a fright or a fit and I forcefully snapped my mouth closed. I wear upper denture but nothing on the bottom. I even sleep in them. I chomped down on my lower front gums and to do that I'd have to have my jaw protruding some (like when a person gets mad). I don't recall any dreams associated with it but it woke me with tears and exclamations. The dreams I had when I fell back to sleep were humdrum usuals.
Rant: I'm either getting a head cold or my allergies are going insane. My ears keep popping. They don't hurt yet but popping is usually a first step toward an outright earache/ear infection. Blah.

Rave: We're supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow tomorrow night. It's been way too warm this winter.
Rave: Just finished my step-daughters hood for her scarf. Hubby and I are having lunch with her tomorrow so I'll give them to her then. I'm very pleased with the results
Rave: I've rediscovered the show Grimm. I stopped watching it before the end of season 4 so I've been catching up while crocheting.

      Hope everyone's well.
      Goodnight, DV.
