I used to go by there every day on my way back from the university, often I would stop there for a while. I am done with university since a few weeks ago so technically this is no longer my everyday life but I love that spot

So here's another drawing I made that I particularly like. My dad got me a book for christmas that's about chinese Qigong, as I was interested in the culture. The book mentioned Jing (essence), Qi and Shen and how they relate to each other and to a human being. The wax is the jing, the base for everything. The fire is the Qi, without jing there is no Qi. Qi is the life force, which builds upon the physical manifestation (wax, human). At last the radiance of the candle (it isn't clear in the drawing) is the Shen. Shen is your spirit or mind (very narrow translation), without a healthy base there will be no healthy spirit. I guess it's slightly relevant to lucid dreaming as well in a sense.

My friend pointed out something really cool to me yesterday. She was looking at Google Earth. She zoomed in on Lake Powell and found her houseboat in its slip. Then she looked and tried to find our friend Susan's houseboat...but it wasn't in its regular slip. That meant that the Google Earth image was taken at some point when the boat was out on the lake....but which time? So she scanned some of the usual places the houseboat could be. Then she found it. It was up in Oak Canyon...the date was June 2013. That was when our group of friends all went uplake and camped and kayaked there in Oak Canyon. And we could tell exactly when the picture was taken because the houseboat was anchored, but our kayaks were still loaded on top and we hadn't set up our tents yet.

For some reason I find that really cool.



We camped and paddle boarded in this wonderful secluded place on the lake.


Zooming out you can see some of the canyons we kayaked.


Zoomed out some more and we can see most of the area we kayaked around on that trip.


Now I can see all the areas on the lake where I kayak, including Lone Rock Canyon, Antelope Canyon, West Canyon. I can also see the Escalante area where we camped in April and the canyons we explored. I can see Coyote Gulch! And if you knew where to zoom in you could find where I live.


And now I can see my beloved Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. Sigh.....
