I really like Sci-Fi that takes place in the near future, or alternate history there's a really good author called Robert J Sawyer. I recommend the book Rollback and the Hominids series.

When I'm not reading Stephen King (Which already says a lot on what I read), I normally drift towards crime fiction.

I want to get back into Sci-fi books(somebody recommend me some), but there just hasn't been any that have caught my attention - however, I have found one series that I've liked a whole lot: It's a trilogy series by Jo Anderton. Only read the first book, hope to buy the second one soon, and am awaiting the third one.

What sort of science fiction would you like DreamscapeGoat?

What comes to my mind first as a recommendation for you:
Lois McMaster Bujold and her Vorkosigan Saga:

Bujold’s approach varies, sometimes crossing genres. All the novels include humor and comedy, sometimes very black and juxtaposed with tragic deaths or losses. She mixes military adventure, political thriller, romance, and the whodunit in various proportions.

Otherwise I can really recommend John Scalzi and his "Old Men´s War" cycle.

Also maybe check out "The Diamond Age" - from Neil Stevenson.

And tons more - see link above - but I really think, you would like Bujold!

I mainly read non-fiction. Right now I am reading two autobiographies. I really like them. One is by Alan Watts and the other is by Neil Young. I also like some thriller novels.

I like to Read and have completed the series of, Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Chronicles of Vladimir Todd, The Hunger Games, and The Percy Jackson series. Those are the series I've completed, I also like to read and still am reading the 39 Clues, Narnia, Goosebumps, The Vampire Diaries, The last Apprentice, Pretty Little Liars, and many more. But overall I like, let me rephrase that, (LOVE!!!) Harry Potter. I think J.K Rowling is the most amazing author out there. She is a genius and I love her

I love thrillers. Really makes you want to continue reading till the end
I fill my heart with fire, with passion, passion for what makes me nostalgic. A unique perspective fuels my fire, makes me discover new passions, more nostalgia. I love it.

I've been reading consistently for less than a year, so I don't know my preferred genre yet. I've been really enjoying Mario Puzo's books lately though. I don't really like watching movies, but "mob" movies were always my favorites (Casino, Goodfellas). So I really liked reading The Godfather and The Sicilian, and The Last Don was good as well. I'll read more of his books eventually, but I think I'll take a break to try some other authors/genres in the meantime.

Initially, I only wanted to read books about "real" stuff (non-fiction). Based on my general dislike of movies and video game stories, I assumed I just didn't like "stories" that weren't "real." Then I read The Lord of the Rings and realized I was wrong; fiction can be great. I need a new book to dive into, actually. I've been working through Electronics for Dummies, but I'm not always in the mood for that. I might try something "sci-fi" next, as I've never read anything like that before.

At the moment I've been reading a lot of crime thrillers. Dan Brown has been my selection of author this year and I'm really enjoying his books thus far.
I'm also currently reading Dean Crawford's apocalypse which is sort of sci-fi in the sense that it involves seeing into the future but it's still in the mystery genre. Really interesting book. Up next is Stephen King's Insomnia

Currently, I am doing a book challenge. I am reading 6 books from the year I was born, 6 books from the top 50 horror books, and 6 books from 2013 and 2014. This is in addition to stuff I need to read for work and books on serial killers and psychology for school. Going to be a busy year for me.

I am currently reading IT. I am not enjoying it at all. King overwrites... a lot. I understand his descriptions clearly, but I don't really care. The book came out 27 years ago, and a lot of the writing components are antiquated. A scene that took maybe 10 minutes to play out took 30 pages to describe, and I was just bored. The actual action and characters are great, but he could skip points G - Y and get straight to the final action and still have a strong passage.

I want to recommend The Alchemist by Paul Coelho, it's a fictional roman and it's a very good read. It's a bit mystical but that's what kept me interested.

I mostly read YA fiction, usually of the sci-fi/fantasy variety (which is also primarily what I write myself). But I'm open to any genre as long as it's a good book!

I'm a big fan of mystical mysteries as well, where one feels they're not just learning who-dun-it but rather some deep, esoteric knowledge. Even if it's made up. Fullmetal Alchemist, for example, dissects a mystery related to life, death and the beyond. From the very beginning it creates this mystery surrounding a doorway and a mysterious eye behind it. Very good stuff. It's a manga though.

I'm also pretty big into fantasy and mildly into science fiction when it has a good story or themes from the likes of Isaac Asimov. Last young adult fiction I read was Harry Potter which I felt a little old for even in 7th grade when I started it (I had already been reading Redwall which I find greatly superior)

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
