Thread: Names of Dream Characters

I've been asking the names of DC's recently. I think it's fun! The only ones I can think of is a T-rex named Gandalf, a dolphin named Kayla, and a little girl named Heather.

My first "dream guide(which i highly doubt was one because he seem no different than a normal DC)" was named Mikko.

It's normal for dream characters to have weird names, especially if those are just random dream characters. More recurring and/or intelligent dream characters might more likely have more normal sounding names.
As for me, the only two names i know from lucid dreams are: Ice Element, mechanical transforming entity, name of which i just happened to know subconsciously from non-lucid part of same dream, and ____ of Nature of Earth, which is name of midget that was distracting me during one of my lucid dreams, could not recall first part of name when i woke up so it's underscore'd.

Did you watch « the hobbit » ?

Interesting characters you guys have. One question for you all. Are these dream characters you said with those names appearing in more than one dream, or was just once?

I've actually never seen "The Hobbit" or any of the "Lord of the Rings" movies. I've heard of the character Gandalf though!

All of the characters I mentioned appeared just once.

Ice Element appeared in a few times through one long dream, in some different locations, i think it's interesting so i have plans on summoning it sometime.
As for ____ of Nature of Earth appeared in only one dream, but there was other midget in different lucid dream, though it could have been same one, i haven't asked him.

I don't remember if I asked her what her name was or if she told me but one character's name was Becka. I think I somehow just knew her name. Edit: I've had just one dream with Becka in it and I don't know a Becka in real life.

once I visited beautiful megalithic city (a huge underwater canyon with massive coloured pyramids carved into the walls, I started playing telekinesis volleyball with a mermaid and before I woke up she said her name was Nadya.

I remember once I was hanging out with Bjork once and suddenly became lucid then told her my name in case I was astrally projecting, she responded "I know". I am a huge Bjork fan and often feel like she singing to me, so I'm sort of between dream and magic here

It depends, my main dream guide is called "shino". Most often though it's the new ones that have unusual names, I was in my dream dojo in one of my lucids and there is never anyone there other than my sabretooth, however in this particular dream a salesman appeared who said he was called "cakenut", I was so surprised I actually lost lucidity and started buying things off him.

Charlie, Lee, Rider, Eloise, Dishes(yeah, like the plates), Little Evil(she was about 5, really cute kid), Gatekeeper(he originally posed as my dad at a younger age, but change roles in the dreamsequences/dreams when I befriended him.(my dad was a real a$$ IRL), Six & Nine.

Why are the names given by the dream characters so weird? Am I earing it wrong?

For some, it just reflects their essence or roles. Some I'm like wtf?

Are these dream characters you said with those names appearing in more than one dream, or was just once?

Generally more than once, some have appeareding dreams/LD for months if not years.

One dream character, who supposedly is my dream guide (though I've never been able to meet him more than once) asked me to call him "Coach." Symbolic based on my life path..

So far all my characters have had pretty normal names. I asked my dream guide (I suspect she's my dream guide) what her name was and she just said "Leanne or Lee for short". I was expecting something a little more crazy. I also have a guy called The Architect who builds for me. So far his name is just The Architect.

Today it was given to me another weird name. In today's dream i was Nalee Zalanaa, a warrior from another dimension. In the dream i even saw that name written this way. I don't know if this name really exist as it's so weird to me.

Some crazy weird name: Randilla (for my grandmother that was actually called Giuditta), Laur (for a random girl, I guess she forgot a "a" at the end), Capitan Vento (captain wind, for the guy that was ruling the weather - did you know that to stop a thunderstorm is enough to throw used batteries in the air? pieces of lemon also work but for less time), Yoper (for myself), Manluca Balli (...? fucking weird) for a guy that I knew but had a different name.

Great post! My dream characters always offer pretty strange names and they are usually really difficult to remember when I wake up. I couldn't remember any recent ones so last night I tried to dream about it and sure enough I met one of my neighbors (who I haven't actually met in real life) and she told me her name was "Tommy."

I have fantastic updates for this thread.
- in a dream a character referred about himself like "Il gallinaccio" (the horrible chicken)
- in a lucid dream I asked to a guy what was his name, after insisting a couple of times (he didn't want to talk to me) he said that his name was Nahem.
- this is another lucid dream, I cross post here from my dream journal. I talk to a girl, I ask her her name. She answer "I'm Lesa". That word in Italian means damaged; if an Italian woman says "I'm Lesa" it means something like "my brain is damaged". I made them a joke about it "oh, I see, both as a name and as a fact". She facepalms and smiles for my horrible joke. I ask to the other woman in her table "and you? Are you also Lesa?" And she answers "no". I reply "oh that's strange! You look like you are!" The crowd finds my jokes very funny and laughs out loud. Then I ask another woman "and what's your name?" "Samantha" "oh that's a beautiful name!". I then lose lucidity and wake up in my bed.

my dream guide is called jahbez and i got introduced to him,they were three and two of them refused to say their names,but jahbez sounds strange name to me,the easiest way to lucid dream is to call his name moments after awareness,i met him-check my experience journal-and today,saw him in a dream but no image just audio convo,i asked him if we met before and he says yes ,speaks only english and not my native language.sounds weird.

-In one dream where I believed to be in a game, I met a player who called himself Dystanius Dreamy. He was streaming the game on twitch.

-A monster called Torni (finnish word for "tower"). It's a mix between a yak and an eagle. Long fur, curved horns, wings.

-A laptop had facebook open and I saw a name on there: "Åker"

-I explored a fantasy world with a girl that I called Laura. I don't know her in waking life. We flew around in a desert, coming across a sphinx and a small town. She disappeared when we encountered a white witch's tower in a forest.

-I designed a character named Karen for CALD and met her in a dream. She didn't make me lucid and I didn't like her. Haven't seen her since.

-A scientist with black wings was called Haggart and Satan.

-I was with an old friend in one dream and didn't recall his name. He was writing a note to someone and I tried to see what name he used to sign it. He signed it with "NIMI" which is finnish for "name"

-I had a spirit as a companion in a game dream. I called it Lucidus.

-I met an alien/mutant cat called Sisko. She had the ability to teleport. Sisko is Finnish for sister.

Most of these are from 2-5 years ago. Lately I've asked DCs for their name in lucid and non-lucid dreams, but either I can't recall them when I wake up or I can't hear them in the dream. For example: I was in a futuristic alien city in a non-lucid dream, walking through a busy street with this alien girl, a researcher at the local university. First she didn't want to tell me her name, but I insisted. She turned to look at me and as she was saying her name, all sounds were muffled heavily. I couldn't make out anything. Confused by this, I stopped asking her name and just followed her.

I'm sure half of dreamviews knows this by now, but my dream guide's name is Manei, thought that was actually a shortening of her full name. (Maneimonehei Qui Tarr). I just had to figure out how to annunciate it in text, then chose to shorten it.

I asked a random DC once what his name was as part of a challenge or TOTM awhile back. I couldn't find the entry but I think his name was like Peter Peeper or something.

(While trying to find that DJ entry, I found another one. At some point I met a girl named "Banana Pineapple Beach Hat".)

I seem to recall a dream I had my freshman year of college in where I met "Professor Penguinstein". A hilarious dwarflike character who I think dressed like a witch and taught math.

And I remember meeting a giant golem made out a castle called Orgon.

Most all of my other repeating dream characters were simply named by me. The evil dream character, Jonathan, was named after a bully from my second grade who looked a lot like him, with the long face and the short black hair. Weirdly enough he never bullied ME, but he was notorious for being mean and getting in trouble. In fact RL Jonathan thought of me as a friend. Jack was just a play on "Jacked" since the first couple times he appeared in my dreams he was completely self obsessed with his muscular physique. I was also a play on Samurai Jack, since he used a pair of swords that looked like the swords that Jack, the cartoon character used. As for Marcus, I don't really know where that name came from. I just remember it came to me one day and stuck ever since.

I piloted a giant robot that had a name something along the lines of " Bardliboot."
