I was scribbling a bit, these are some drawings I plan to use for drawing out my dreams...

but trust me, it will be way better than what I did just now xP

Just wanted to free-hand a little and just get some kind of form within a minute.

Oh you're going to start drawing some of your dreams scenes? We JUST talked about that yesterday in #DVA. I really really like the idea. Helps you lock in you recall even more.

I really want to start doing that as well. Maybe I should find that old Draw Your Dreams thread and resurrect it.

Note: I only grid to get the outlines, because there's no use free handing this when I can make her look more accurate by gridding.

After I finish the outlines, I erase everything, and just shade and add things I forget.

Well, I think this shit is amazing. I wish I could draw, but I never had the talent for it. I really like how each face has so much personality. Any time I ever tried to draw people (and I mean really try) they all look the same lol. Keep it up, Link.

The shading is admirable. The hair simply grabs my attention away from it. If you weren't distracted with writing about my looks, maybe you would have noticed.

EDIT:

Never mind, with your laconic statements trying to prove you said something, but done ambiguously, trying to sublimate the matter between me being "distracted," it's better to report you anyway.

It's not the drawing that "distracted" me, it's how you insulted someone's own grandmother.

Case closed.

You can criticize the drawing all you want, it'll help me a lot, but just please don't add more salt to the wound with someone's family member.

Hmmm, the picture is nice, but i have to agree about the hair... it looks kinda weird :/

In fairness to Link, he has done a really good job in bringing out her character, etc.

Especially if you look at the original posted .jpg of the lady in question (on the Grandma thread) then you will find that the picture size doesn't increase by very much when you click on the actual picture. (Well not on IE anyhow!)

Plus the hair in the original .jpg has muted contrast and a low level of detail.

So I would consider those constraints in mind before being too critical.

Yep, as I suspected.... The hair in the picture is weird too. It could stand to be a few mm higher in the drawing, but it wouldn't make it look less weird.

The one think I think would absolutely change this drawing to resemble her more is the upward arch in the middle of her lip. She doesn't have that in the picture, and it sort of defines her whole look. If you just rub it out slightly and join up the bottom parts of it smoothly in a downward arch, it will make it 10x better.
The ear is also slightly weird. That top left highlight is actually hair. In your picture it looks like ear. And kinda creepy
It is light in the picture, but you can just make it dark to avoid confusion as to what it actually is.

Anyway, I'd like to see it with those improvements if you want to keep going with it. Coz your drawings are awesome.
Although I'd probably act grateful for my advice, bitch about me and never touch the drawing again if I were you. I could never be bothered fixing stuff up days after I'd finished.

Well, I just spent some time writing something for you on here, but I pushed a wrong key and it got deleted. So, long story short, my Grandma would have shed tears for your rendering. It is beautiful and she would have felt less than worthy. In my personal experience, I have found that if I am stuck, I must take a different approach. Instead of a realistic approach, why not make it whimsical...and full of fantasy...half real and half fantasy? But, my friend, you have honored myself and my grandmother to such a degree, there is no need for further rendering ! Thank-you, again! Much Love, xoxoxo

Thank you for telling me that, I was going to do it either way, because I was worried that I would be embarrassing myself in not being able give some modicum of homage towards your grandmother. You're very welcome!

But if that's what you wish, then I guess I'll leave the flaw I made as a lesson for myself, I'm happy that this has made you content.

I messed up her hair on purpose because just like in the dream, it wasn't perfect. Certain parts were even missing. And I even left some of the grid lines to show how imperfect she was.

Just a quick drawing of me holding a gun, at least this is how it felt when I tried shooting the person shooting the guide I was following. I can't remember how he looked like, so that's why I started scratching it.

Also, I need to get a kneaded eraser. And I didn't want to be serious over drawing an arm, hands, and a faded out gun, so I just free handed it. xP
