Found my miracle technique to DILD without fail!

Hello everyone! -Sorry for the long post, just so happy I've finally found my miracle technique for (so far) lucid dreams every night-

I just can't not share this with everyone because I'm ecstatic!
I've been trying to LD really for about 2 months if not more..
Done loads of research of Dreams/Lucid Dreaming/Sleep in general..
I spoke to the best people out there for advice, I really gave it my all..

Nothing came of it really, sadly, and I didn't have much time in the day to practice as I've just been so busy, I kind of gave up on it (for now).

BUT then suddenly, 4 nights ago, I had a vague lucid dream, I just recall knowing I was dreaming and observing the dream environment, it wasn't anything to shout about to anyone else, but it was something great to me, because it was a start to me finally being able to lucid dream! It was just SOMETHING in the right direction which is all I wanted...

Then, the next night, AGAIN, I had a LD, a DILD, and it was a bit longer, and a bit more happened in it, both were low awareness so I didn't really do much, nothing god-like, nothing too special, was just enjoying the dreamscape and trying a few weird things.

I didn't know why this happened until my girlfriend pointed out a pattern..
Both times I went to bed at 2am-3am (normal for me), woke up at 6:20am (still normal), BUT I went back to bed both these nights at about 10am, for an hour...

The next day I thought maybe this would be a good time to WILD, being so tired and if I'm DILDing, maybe it'll go well, it didn't..
I just can't relax atm with a WILD, constantly worrying it's not gonna work and how much time I have left to do it heh.. so was a little bit dissapointed..

ANYWAY, then the next day, I tried the exact same as the first 2 times, went to bed again at 10am, this time for 20mins, and WOW I had like 3 lucid dreams, in odd segments..

I was at school (left now) and people were crying, there were bombing going on (classic dream for me) but for ONCE I was like "this has to be a dream", so i tried to really open my eyes, forcing them open, and it worked.. I woke up, but in my dream, I was just somewhere else on holiday with my GF, then I went back to bed (in my dream) and tried to get another lucid, and I did... I woke up where I was on holiday, knowing I was lucid, and just slid around the sand on my belly like a penguin! Loads of fun!

Anyway... THAT'S IT for me.. my miracle technique, no effort, nothing to it, just careful timing, and all 3 times it's worked wonders, I must hit REM really early because my recall was LOADS better after just 20mins nap, and I know it took me at least 5mins to fall asleep, so for all that really happened to have just been 15mins, I find shocking, this was a long dream for me!

I'll just point out, I never lucid dream, so this is amazing, and not a coincidence!
Can't thank my girlfriend enough, if she hadn't of noticed the pattern, I never would've found out.

      Mind = blown!

      Congratulations!
It's great to you see you having such great success after a long dry spell. You are lucky that you found out your REM times to be able to pull this off, as everybody's would be a bit different. This method exactly wouldn't work straight away for everyone, as people would have to find their own individual pattern for this to occur, but its really fantastic that you have fouind this out for yourself and hopefully myself and others can try and use this, as it seems like a really good method.

      Thanks for the congrats!

It is indeed fantastic news for me, I'm aware it may not work for everyone, but I definitely hope some people can take something away from this to help them..
I'd love to hear from people who i've helped, if any.

I'll keep this updated with my success or lack of

Wow you are very lucky. I'd never be able to do a sleep schedule like that and be alert all day.

Basically, it seems to me, you are rediscovering the so called biphasic sleep, which in LDing jargon we call WBTB.

Some studies and historical accounts show that byphasic sleep ( eg 3,5 sleep, 2/3 awake, and more 3,5 sleep ) is our natural, ancient style of sleep, with benefits in terms of dream recall ( and lucidity ) and health.

And i believe many people just need biphasic sleep and a little intention to have regular LDs.

We used to do it before light bulb and industrial revolution came in and changed our lifestyle, forcing us to monophasic sleep.

I think this is bad news for pharmaceutical companies . How many people are not really insomniacs but just natural biphasic sleepers ?

Very good we are rediscovering this, and it's time to think about leaving the monophasic myth

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

Haha thanks, I feel so much more awake on a schedule like this, than 8hrs or so.. I just can't sleep monophasically, was going to make the switch to even more polyphasic sleep patterns, but life restricts that unfortunately.

      Too true..
More people need to realise this, and yeah it might be a struggle to begin with, changing a sleep cycle is never easy, but with perseverance the benefits are amazing
I'm going to nap again in an hour or 2.. Not too sure if i'll get lucid because I feel so awake and it's not a WBTB but we'll see.. If so then wow

Call me a cynic, but I wouldn't expect a shift towards biphasic sleep unless companies find out it makes their staff more productive and brings in more £££.

      Just to confirm..

Day 1 and 2, as mentioned I was Lucid,

Day 3, tried to WILD (Bad Move), just fell asleep, no lucid

Day 4, tried technique again as with Day 1 & 2, lucid!

Day 5, Sleep pattern got wrecked due to events, no lucid

Day 6, Tried the tech again, got lucid! (So surprised considering I totally fucked up the night before, but great!)

Day 7, Sleep totally wrecked again, was up all night watching the huge thunderstorm in England till about 4am, unplugged PC/Phone due to storm worries, so no alarm to get up to

Day 8, Did the tech, got lucid again!

      IN CONCLUSION

Every night I try this technique, so far, no matter what happened the days before.. If I sleep, wake, nap, and wake again at the set time that seem to work for me, it's a lucid DILD, everytime.. Without any effort or thoughts of DILDing or mantras, it just happens..
And every night I don't abide to this ^ I don't even remember a dream lol..

Thanks Micael, NyxCC, Scionox, Bobblehat, VagalTone for the encouragement

I have just read something about caffeine/coffee affecting sleep and lucid dreams.. I thought it would be bad, because I know it can cause you to have less sleep/rem or something (forgot now)... But I just read that some people have better LDs when they have caffeine, and come to think of it, when I wake up at 6:20am, some mornings I had coffee, some I didn't... I bet that there is once again another pattern in there, perhaps when I have the longer more lucid ones, I DID or DIDN'T have coffee..

I will put this to the test..

Keeping my tech/schedule the same, I will have one variable, the coffee..
And I shall see how this affects my lucids..

Next thing I'm going to be trying is the affects of binaural beats.

And I will start to try and have some WILD sessions in the new few nights..
Full ones at the start of my normal core sleep... Just to experiment, I've gotten so close before and reading something that MasterMind wrote a few days ago.

Lots to think about and experiment with

And remember whenever we have a random great lucid, it's probably for a reason.. Start looking!
As I said, If my girlfriend didn't notice what I failed to... I would never of found any of this out!!

do you have a dream journal that you write in, in between all your sleeps or is it not needed? and when you go back into sleep are you thinking mainly of the last dream you woke from?

No I don't keep a dream journal, I probably should because my recall is TERRIBLE.. Perhaps my lucids are better/longer than I remember, but due to my awful recall, I'll never know, I keep meaning to start, I probably will soon!

When I go back to sleep I can think of whatever, It can be positive, or doubtful (oh no it won't work, I can feel it), or the last dream.. Typically I just think of totally random shit that I'm interested in, or what I want to do, and I just fall asleep and it happens, so no effort there, just whatever makes me sleep/relax quickest I guess.

      UPDATE:
      ///
      Day 9:
Once again my sleep kinda fucked up, slept at good time, woke at 6:20, but for unexpected reasons had my nap at 9am, so 1hr 20 early... I don't recall how long I slept for either, I kind of fell asleep intentionally, but forgot to set an alarm and it just went awfully lol... I didn't have a lucid, but my dream was quite vivid and I recall it.. So the nap was too early i'm sure, and perhaps the fact I know I slept more than 20mins.. I woke with a vivid dream in my head, went back to sleep, woke up, and it was totally gone

So that's another idea of how strict I need to be... I will try experimenting with sleeping a little bit later soon, I think 11 or so would be a bit better when I'm a bit more tired..

It's great that you are experimenting with this and keeping track of it all. This will certainly help you figure out how to get more lds. Caffeine plays a role in induction, but I think the most important part is just waking up your brain, which is what caffeine and WBTBs do. In some instances, I end up with large scale insomnia after WBTB (for a variety of reasons), being unable to sleep for an hour or two. When I finally nod off for a half an hour or so, I have a very high chance of having a lucid. I just realized this is quite comparable to your sleep schedule.

Oh yeah I'm definitely going to experiment a lot, it's what I do!
And when I get good enough to have some proper LDs, with high awareness and I can really think what I want to do, THEN I will go where no-one else has before
I've been experimenting with LDing since I was 6-7, had quite a few, most nights, then it just stopped and I forgot about it...

Ah so that's what caffeine does, and yeah that does sound similar to my schedule..
      When I wake on 3hrs 20 sleep, it's a struggle, but after 5-10 mins i'm wide awake..
Then at 10:20, even though i'm still wide awake at that point, I can sleep in about 2 minutes which is ideal!
Never been one to struggle sleeping, I fall asleep at the desk, sitting on the floor, during films, and sometimes whilst standing up (like making a coffee, and peeing lol)
Once I can relax with a WILD, i'm sure I could be great at it, because I sleep so quickly.. but for now my focus is on these DILDs
