Basically, it seems to me, you are rediscovering the so called biphasic sleep, which in LDing jargon we call WBTB.

Some studies and historical accounts show that byphasic sleep ( eg 3,5 sleep, 2/3 awake, and more 3,5 sleep ) is our natural, ancient style of sleep, with benefits in terms of dream recall ( and lucidity ) and health.

And i believe many people just need biphasic sleep and a little intention to have regular LDs.

We used to do it before light bulb and industrial revolution came in and changed our lifestyle, forcing us to monophasic sleep.

I think this is bad news for pharmaceutical companies . How many people are not really insomniacs but just natural biphasic sleepers ?

Very good we are rediscovering this, and it's time to think about leaving the monophasic myth
