So for the past few days I've been having 3rd person dreams as if I am just like watching the television or something, how can you do an RC when this happens, I mean it's as if you don't exist. |

The dream in itself should act like an RC, because we always perceive the world in 1st person, the 3rd person dream in of itself should be a trigger. |

Not at all, if you truly are in third person there is no way of perceiving that you should be in first person. It's hard to explain but I have alot of 3rd person dreams and there is no thought process about it at all, just like watching a film. |

I'd really appreciate a link, cause thats pretty much where I am stuck at. |
|
I see, thanks, so it looks like I'm not doing my RCs correctly when I am awake then :/ |

I have loads of 3rd person dreams/dreams without a body. I just can't remember to RC if I don't do it as a habit in RL and never experiance the 3rd person in RL so I never remember in dreams. Also they seem more detached than 1st person dreams. Like it's just happening and I'm not involved at all-it makes it more difficult to think logically and realise I'm dreaming. I tried RCing when watching TV randomly but it never carried over into a dream. |

I've certainly had 3rd person Lucid dreams, very fun and videogame-like. I was moving my limbs exactly as you do normally, but my point of of perception was about 8 feet behind and above my dream body. |

Well, I do spend a lot of time on my laptop in and out of school, even on my commute, which is like 2 hours. |

RCs are overboiled really, you should try to raise your general awareness and trying to stick your fingers through your palm 10 times a day isn't the best way to do that. I never RC during the day. |

Third person dreams? Sorry. Not lucid. You will know when you have a lucid dream. There is no doubt. Can I get a witness? |

I guess we are thinking of LDs different. 3rd person dreams can be lucid. My LD form just last night was lucid. I became aware hat I was dreaming but did not yet have a body. I was aware of what I was seeing and even identified a DC as a certain TV actress. Clearly in my mind itwas a 3rd person LD. I woke after that, but typically at that point I would cause the dream to shift to first person, using any one of a few methods. I actually used the shift in prespective last month to teleport me and a DC down to a beach without loosing the image. We were on a high ledge. I teleported us but kept my vision from the spot I was at. I pictured us appearing on the beach and sure enough we appeared. I floated down by changing the 3rd perrson visuals and then went into the body, and switched back to 1st person. |

I have never had a lucid 'third person dream'. I have had third person regular dreams. |
|
Every dream I have that I can remember has been a Lucid third person dream. Its been this way as long as I can remember. My point of view is just a few feet behind me, but I can feel and control my body. I just have an omnipresent point of view and control of the world around me. I'm like some sort of god in my dreams. |

Make sure you use two types of RCs. You mention your two RCs and almost have the right approach. Have a physical one like you do, then have a visual awareness one alot like the book thing. Ctharlhie is correct about raising your general awareness. Here is how you can have a RC that works well in 3rd person. Many times a day calmly look at your visual field and pay attention to detail, ask yourself if anything is wrong. Example, make a point of looking at signs and asking yourself if the sign akes sense. Try looking at an object and watching for it to move, while asking if you may be dreaming. In a LD signs will have weird backward letters, or say odd things. In LDs you will not be able to stare at one object for more than a few seconds before the visuals will shift and warp. So, if you include RCs like this often when you are in a 3rd person dream, you may see the sign has no clear meaning and you become lucid, or the mailbox you are staring at looks like you are high on drugs and you become lucid. |

3rd person dreams are annoying and boring for me. I have never had any luck becoming lucid in one. |

"You Can't, You Won't And You Don't Stop"Lucid Goals: [Ask a DC: "Am I dreaming?"] [Ask a DC: "What are you?"]
It should be possible to become lucid even in a third person dream, they don't necessarily mean that you are in some low awareness state. If you practice general awareness during the day, even when you watch TV or stay in front of the computer critical thinking should show up in these dreams too where you would normally be a passive observer. I had a dream like this the other day where I kept on reflecting on everything that happened in my head, and I'm sure I was on the way to becoming lucid cause I noticed the text started changing and I thought to myself that must mean something, but then it changed into some funny nonsense stuff and I got distracted and woke up laughing. |

I had a DILD this morning and when I realized it was a dream, my "vision" was still in 3rd person, which is how I usually dream. It suddenly shifted to 1st person when I did my RCs and stabilization. It kept shifting in and out of 3rd person/1st person. |
