Actually, it makes a butter sandwich. Since the butter replaces the peanut butter in between two pieces of toast, it's still technically a sandwich. If it were one piece of toast, then it would be a piece of buttered toast.

Anyway, it's still a MILD since you are trying to burn into your memory to do a RC. You don't have to use a mantra for it to be a MILD. A MILD could be as simple as trying to incubate a dream right before you're going to sleep, or as complex as always thinking your mantra and incubating at all times. MILD, put simply, doesn't require a mantra, just something burned into your memory that will cause you to become lucid within the dream.

      I like the analogy

Don't forget what the 'M' in MILD stands for, though. It's not 'mantra', it's 'mnemonic'. Basically, anything that is a memory aid fits that description, and in this case, the reality check is being used more that way. It's supposed to be the last thing you remember. Therefore, mnemonic. See? And this method appeals to some other things traditionally associated with MILD, too, like no required preparation during the day, but instead doing all your 'preparation' right in bed as you go to sleep.

You're right, there's a lot of DILD in this, but I think RC-MILD gives a better idea of what the method is than RC-DILD (which sounds like regular DILD, and is almost redundant...but I think that was your point anyway ).

EDIT: I didn't see Snowboy's post before posting this...so yeah, if you see us making the same points, we are

Oops, sorry, I thought your reply was on a different thread that I had already responded to. My bad.

Combining methods definitely sounds like it could work, but I don't really have a lot of time to devote to lucid dreaming right now, so I'll have to wait until later to give it a shot (maybe tomorrow night?)

If you want to give it a shot I'd be interested to hear your results, though
