Yes well as crazy as it sounds (and given what a popular name it is) 'tis true that I have never met a John in my life, or if I had they hadn't told me that was his name. Anyway why would I be talking to a John about compensation?

John is a man that lives a life like everybody else. Why he does what he does is a mystery that has yet to be solved.

Noodle had a legit question though: who is John? You know I've talked in my sleep over the years, so have my brothers and various boyfriends/husbands that I've left scattered over the many chapters of my life. In every case, upon being asked, none if us could recall a dream even remotely associated with what we said in our sleep.

So who is this proverbial John? The answer to this question is the same as the number of licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop: the world may never know....

In regards to the actual question though. You were stressed, had a cold, and took sleeping pills, all that combined could lead to some pretty weird dreams and loss of recall. Your subconscious probably just got the name John from a book, show, or some other place you've heard the name, and used it for the name of a dream character.

In the dream you either owed John compensation or John owed you compensation, or neither of you owed each other. Perhaps a company was compensating you for damages, or you were asking John if he got compensated for a bird bath in his yard that a city worker broke. Or maybe it wasn't compensation at all, but the word condensation. Maybe there was a lot of condensation on a bathroom mirror or a glass of iced tea.

There's also the possibility that it wasn't just a dream, perhaps your sleeping mind converged with a future or alternate universe version of yourself, a version of yourself that not only knows a person named John but also owes compensation to him. Although you might want to cross your fingers that it is John who owes you, or better yet, a nice condensation-y glass of iced tea.

I know a guy named John who probably wants some motherf---ing compensation:

Guys what if we are all John and this thread is as much an illusion that our lives as other people are and we are all in fact a single male named John who lives in one elaborate fantasy meant to repress the truth about what we did and why we are trying to be different people. Dreamviews is our playground, just a metaphor for the method these separate selves we are use to communicate with each other because when the fact is that we all inhabit one mind, we can't not communicate with each other right? I think I know what "John" did guys, I don't know how much longer I'll be around, I got too close, dug too deep...

Getting out of hand! I think its gone waaaaaaaaaaaaaay past that friend. I've long stopped caring who John is.
