Ha! I think I know know what my dream was about: see what a lot of my dreams are about is my spiritual journey - my spiritual growth is something that I have been working on. Lately in the past few days I had participated in a few threads on DV about religion and knowledge, and I think this dream is telling me that some of the latest ideas I have expressed are not any good: that maybe they are undoing some progress I had made and taking me back to a past where I don't want to go, that there has been too much noise, and I need to look at different solutions - I had already decided to step back, and had thought that some of the stuff I posted was not quite right, and that I was wasting too much time in that direction, and I think this is what this dream is saying in a metaphor.

I just realized part of why my son had this dream: yesterday we got two new pet snails for our aquarium, and compared to any other snails we had, these are huge (they are so called "mystery snails"), and the snails do keep hiding (part of having an aquarium involves often looking for a fish or snail where it is hiding now). So I think the two large snails transformed into huge mice in the dream.

Also I am wondering whether the thunderstorm is due to the fireworks.

Overall my assessment: my son's dream was much better than my own. I wish I had dreamed of huge mice and tiny people, instead of things that were "not any good" at work - though of course you are right, it will get better, and dream recall wise, it already did, since I finally remembered a dream again after almost a week dry spell.

      It will get better.
The toy race track bit reminded me of some video games that i played in the past.

Competitions are great for breaking dry spells! Lisanna (my new daughter ) is keeping me up all night as well. My wife is waking me up less and less for help now, so I should be LDing like normal for the competition. Good luck with the awesome dreaming. Keep up your spirits.

Two reasons why I would dream of fruit:
      (1) there is a thread about favorite fruit on DV
      (2) I bought too much fruit last time I went grocery shopping.

Superman, you would cause me to face palm myself on my forehead, if I did not remember that my forehead is still sore from my fall in the bathroom last week and thus face palming literally is not a good idea.

I had already before in earlier dreams established that the number three is significant to me mostly because I am a Christian. And yes, Jesus is called King.

The liquor as being strengthening does not sound right though. I am almost entirely a tea totaler. I almost never drink alcohol in real life except a glass of wine, maybe once every few months. So for me alcohol does not have the strengthening connotation, more of the addiction danger connotation. As you know, I have been dreaming of bars a lot lately though.

I think part of the trouble is that while I avoid alcohol, but I do have many other addictions in my life. And books are one of them. Not all books I read are wholesome, and actually only recently I switched to nonfiction books - not that fiction is all bad, but some of my taste in books really were not good books, not even well written, and just used as a form of escapism.

Another possible reason for the booze in this dream is due to the religious subtheme: instead of 3 types of liquor, 3 spirits, meaning the trinity (Holy Spirit, ...).

Your option 2: the books being about how to become the King, ... Well, one of the books I am now reading is Discover the Power Within You by Eric Butterworth. And the idea in this book is that we all have the divine within us and need to discover it. So yes.

However, I think the books being a burden is more likely about the books that I have read for escapism, and how I am not willing to part with that addiction, or other escapism like addictions which do not bring my spirit closer to God (the King).

Thanks again, superman, for helping me sort some of this out!

I prefer them short, and probably often the excess details are not needed, making it concise, and to the point. That can also reflect one's thinking.
What do you mean you don't have a King?

Maybe you wanted strong stuff to give this ruling side of you that visited your thoughts, to fortify it and maybe make it feel better or higher.
Sounds like the 3 gifts for Jesus, maybe paralleling the newborn King in you which is spiritual.

      OPTION ONE:
But then your focus shifted, and you were maybe looking for what knowledge or info or ideas you need to sell or get rid of to gain this King, and to move ahead with the idea. Selling them at a garage can mean you were parked or not moving, and you can drive off from a garage.
You carried many, and was a heavy burdon.
But once you could trade them for value, you looked through them again and were not willing to rid yourself of this burdon. Unless you saw now they were indeed valuable but the dream didn't say that.
You carry this heavy burdon home back to yourself.

      OPTION TWO
Maybe the books were your knowledge of how to be King, that you had to exchange for their higher value of moving ahead with the idea.
So this goal was becoming a heavy burdon.
Once you got there, you looked through their content once more, and decided you were mostly not willing to move forward with it at that heavy time?
So the heavy burdon of knowing remains, not fulfilling the dream.

Oh, and one difference that might bring up my DJ entry count more than others: I noticed that most people like to put all entries for one night together, whereas I prefer separate entries for separate dreams most of the time. It's a style difference. I like to usually see the dreams as separate entities and not clumped together. But then if I recall three dreams in one night that results in 3 entries, and so my DJ count goes up more, but that does not mean I write more than others who put 6 dreams in one entry. I envy those of you who can recall enough details about a dream to write long text about it, even my whole dreams recalled tend to be fairly short without a lot of details like book titles. Got to continue working on that dream recall!

I try hard to dream journal. Unfortunately I do have days when I don't recall squat, but I try to write a DJ entry even then to have a record of that. The night before last was just superb with three dreams and three fragments, and even today was not shabby, two dreams and one fragment. I just hope my recall stays high for the Checker competition, and that I do not then get a dry spell.

Alas, I do not recall any title. I recall the books were heavy, but that's it.

Your number of dream entries grows so fast, you certainly have better habits than many people here...Especially myself xD

Remember any title of those books you were trying to sell? Maybe you'll find there your next reading object

Interestingly enough my first lucid dream ever the first thing I ever tried was sumersaults, so I think my mind just associates being lucid with sumersaults. Although in that first lucid ever, I woke up before completing that sumersault, so this one was a bit more successful. Still I obviously forgot to do dream stabilization tonight and got overexcited. In fact, I am still excited!

I've found this to be true. Catching up on sleep, particularly after a period of missing hours of good rest, can not only be wonderfully restorative but also good for some amazing dreams and lucids.

Keep up the awareness practice, it really is good for recall and triggering lucids. :)

I think catching up on sleep is very important for both recall and lds. Sometimes you just need a break, where you brain and mind can relax undisturbed.

Is this dream about my lucid dreaming efforts? I write lots of dream journal entries, and I know the correct terminology, and even have prior experience, but am not succeeding. Is it because I do not have the cojones to do it?
