      Need Ideas for ADVANCED tasks.

I need a little help coming up with some advanced lucid tasks. I can currently do any of the super power stuff, so fly to the moon, or transform into a dragon, are not the kind of ideas I am after.

I am also not looking for ultimate control challenges.

Here are two examples I consider too advanced for me to handle in the short term, but they are long term fantasy goals of mine. 1)Divide my conciousness into two such as 2 seperate koi fish and observe from both prospectives at one time 2) develop direct control over my astral travel in a reliable way. So, that stuff is more advanced than I need.

I will give you the two ADVANCED tasks, I have come up with to challenge myself. Please add any you can think of. The goals should not involve violence as I am a yogi (not into killing and such) and should be usefull in developing some aspect of dream control.

      1) Cause plants of a specific type (Tomatoes, and Banannas) to grow from the ground and sprout into fully developed plants that bear the proper fruit. The plants should look correct, and then the fruit should be eaten and have a realistic tecture and taste. (Very close to completion, see DJ)http://www.dreamviews.com/blogs/siva...es-totm-48476/, .http://www.dreamviews.com/blogs/siva...ng-task-48786/

      2) Summon or come upon a pyramid at least the size of a truck. Use TK to lift it from the ground and ballence it on its tip. Then cause the upside down pyramid to spin like a top.

I look forward to any suggestion you may have that seem to be about the same level of difficulty.

      Thanks everyone!!!

try constructing a kingdom filled with subjects and such. you could also try having it develop whilst you're awake and have some degree of consistentcy

Meditate within a lucid dream. It's more difficult than it sounds. However, if you can accomplish it, then you'll instantly gain a lot more control.

I'll give you a hint. You need something to anchor yourself in the dream while you shut out everything else. Some anchor to their own breath. Some anchor to a mantra. I have anchored to the feeling of being under a waterfall to some success. The best one I found was to anchor to the sensation of falling. It's very strong, it requires no input from you, and you won't ever "hit" anything because you are clearing your mind of expectations.

When you were a kid did you ever grow the Magic Rocks? You know, the metal-salts that you put in the water and in a few hours you have a crystal garden? I think it would be neat to control the growth of something like that.

      Have you swallowed fire?

Ever try solving equations or riddles? Math is fun in lucid dreams, in my opinion, if only to manage to keep things mentally straight and have them make sense.

Ever tried walking backwards? Or running? How about speaking backwards?

Can you walk in your own mind and activate your own motor controls?

How about switching the face of a DC but allowing them to keep their normal voice? Could you make that happen?

Thanks MelanieB, I like the magic rocks idea. Maybe something like this: Grow 3 crystals one at a time, each in a different crystal type pattern, one in each primary color, and keep all three in the visual field until completed.

I am not sure what you mean about the walk in your own mind/ motor control thing, could you expand on the idea so I understand.

Being able to do some form of math may be a challenge. Even just reciting the X5 table to 10x5 correctly would be challenging. It would sure build up some cognitive skill.

Meet me in a dream at mid day.
      Stonehenge is the place.
I will be sat on top of one of the big blocks, just chilling, waiting for anyone to visit.
There I will show you the best "Advanced Task" you will ever come accross

Perhaps: visit 3 specific mystical places in one dream. have the visuals look somewhat realistic. Stonehenge, great pyramid, Easter Island

Shrink yourself and get eaten by something lower on the foodchain--Magic School Bus style (i.e. after being eaten go learn something about digestion or what have you).

Not bad! Maybe a whole explore the insides like a maze adventure.

Edit: Here we go. Advanced food chain task,,, shrink down and transform into a bug, get eaten by a fish, become that fish after climbing into its brain, get eaten by a sea turtle and become that sea turtle after swimming into its brain.

Perhaps you could sink the floor of a whole city to the level of the basements and have a walk in the underworld "outdoor".

I did not get to your reply before my sleep time.
I managed to get to Stonehenge, but it was very dark there, and could only remain lucid for a short while.
Tonight I will hop / fly from one location to the next looking for you.
Recognising a fellow dreamer is difficult, as they rarely appear as real life.
They manifest as something I consider to be them.
      For example,
If I had constant arguements with you, you may appear to me as my 'father in law'
If we often chatted about occult matters, you could appear as a wizard, or mystic.
The same thing goes for you recognising me.
Your low opinion might manifest me as a slug on a stone.
I may appear as my Avatar, which would not be good, if you are scared of mice.
If you think I am a very intellygent, wonderful, charismatic, funny, brilliant, fun person, then I would appear as myself.
      See you later,
      Phil

      P.S.
Anyone else wanting to show up is welcome, but I get to sit on the top of the pyramid first.

I don't know if you remember, I once told you about I project I was running called "Project Transcendence".
Despite the name, this project was only based on testing the limits of dream control and understanding the behavior of the dream.
I had some pretty magnificent lucids during my time experimenting which I think you would definitely enjoy. Most of the tasks I had gathered went along the lines of the first task you mentioned about dividing you consciousness in two.
One of these weeks I will re-start the project under the name "Project Transcendence II"
If you want I can link you the thread and you may wish to participate there. There will be some great ideas and techniques involved with advanced lucid tasks. If you're up for trying them I'd love to have you as an addition.

      I have three suggestions:

      1) This is inspired by a concentration-strengthening exercise from Mouni Sadhu: see a pool ball (any number) from all sides simultaneously.

      2) My own (weird) visualisation exercise: experience yourself as two separate physical entitites (but with shared consciousness): your normal self, and a tiny ant-sized version of yourself. Let the small version do a "jungle like" trip through the eyebrows of your normal self - using a machete to cut through the thicket, if need be. Feel the experience from both perspectives at the same time.

      3) Just a crazy idea off the cuff: Perform a free fall from 100 miles above ground without protective clothing. Experience the friction and its effects on your body. EDIT: Swallow a pain killer first.
Last edited by Voldmer; 07-22-2013 at 02:17 PM. Reason: My third suggestion was rather pain-inducing

I hope I'm not too late to play, but this is an interesting idea. Here are a few suggestions off the top of my head:

      * Manifest an object from a previous dream (preferably a NLD), and then think about why you did so, whether you got it right, whether this is actually the object you dreamed, or if you're just remembering it that way.

      * Do a search for an old friend -- it must be a friend from way back who you haven't spoken to in a long time, and you must go to him/her, and not bring them to you. Also, after you find the friend, you must be satisfied that you got/created the right person.

      * Start a round-table discussion with historic luminaries. You know the drill; sit folks like Einstein, Newton, Gandhi, David Bowie -- whoever you care to invite -- in a comfortable room with lots of refreshments, but this time there's a catch: you must have read at least one book by each guest in waking life (and it's okay if you don't really remember the book). Then start chatting, and don't leave until you've learned something.

That's it for now; if more come to me, I'll add them in. I hope that helped.

Brilliant! All 3 of those are the kind of ideas I am looking for. Attainable assuming a high level of skill, but developing certain new aspects of LDing. Thanks.

I don't know how advanced could it be, although recently I had an idea which I was trying to perform during a LD. It would be interesting to know if it really works as I think:

Have a DILD and follow the original dream plot avoiding to interfere with its natural course without loosing lucidity, understand every meaning around the dream and realize, if possible, the deep significance of every element present in the dreamscape.

This would be pretty advanced for me. One problem I have after so many years of controlling dreams, is just this. I tend to have almost complete control and it deprives me of the cool interaction with my unconscious mind. I am not saying I never have random elements in my dreams, but out of habit I suppress any ongoing plot and insert one of my own design. I really think you may have a great idea for me here. I am not even sure how I could relax my mind in a way to get back to plots and the like coming from the whole subconscious thing. Food for thought anyways, so thank you very much.

Maybe you could ask a dream character for a helping hand with that. Or ask the dream itself ... how about going to the end of the world, or something (for dramatic effect), and then shout out your desire to the vast emptyness: "Please let me experience a dream of great importance to me!" Or something similar, or more useful.

This is a great idea. I've tried it a few times, I tried it last about 3 days ago. It's actually incredibly advanced to put together every aspect of the challenge, for instance I finally succeeded in following the dream plot a few nights ago in my lucid, I really got immersed and within like 2 minutes I had lost all my attention to detail. I hadn't lost lucidity, just my deep proper understanding of the world around me.
I'd judge myself as almost an expert in dream stabilization by now, so it was weird to just lose attention like that. Following the storyline without intruding takes so much mental effort that you forget to pay attention.
This will definitely be one of my goals from now on.

Here is a task that you might enjoy.

Grow yourself a body, or put one together, and then inhabit it.
You could use telekenesis to put the parts together, or just grow from the ground upwards.

Opposite task would be to dissolve the body you are in.
Do it the same way. Take parts away, until nothing is left except for your free floating spirit.
Or just watch yourself melt away.

My mind is a little messed up, I know.

I would say perhaps our minds are a little messed up.

It's possible to start a very interesting journey with the opposite task you propose, together with all the other tasks proposed in this thread now. This brings me a couple more of ideas which, I think, could be very useful if it's possible to perform them:

      -Bring back almost forgotten memories.
-See the dream in slow motion, almost stopped if possible.
-Chain dreams from one night to another without losing their continuity.

P.S. I would start from subatomic levels.

      "Bring back almost forgotten memories."

I stumbled on this one a few months ago.
It involves taking two different plants that are banned in some countries. ( Very small quantities )
The combination took me back to when I was at babysitters house, aged 4, and thats 43 years ago
I can now remember the colour of my potty as I was being trained out of nappies.
Lots of other lost memories as well.
Taking the plants in a dream now does exactly the same thing as real life.

I think that could be a great advanced task. I have never done anything like it. Sounds cool.

I would bet money that one of the plants was Salvia. It is a weird chemical that hit totally different parts of the brain/neurons. Time distortion and seeing the past happens to almost everyone.
