I've already put 26:18:32:03 into this game and it's absolutely amazing.
You can actually write letters to other online players using the parchment paper.

Co-op is a bit one sided, though. If you marry and bring an acquaintance into battle with you, which ever one of you invited the other person gets the experience. Lame..but whatevs, still an awesome game!!

This is probably the one thread I'd like to see revived. (Oh wait, what, I just realized I made it. What the fuck)

Huh, either way, I actually haven't been all that excited. Strange, eh? I've been looking forward to it, sure, but I've felt a bit indifferent and sort of "oh yeah, that'll be fun".
I have a friend in my class who is über hyped, and my little brother is hyped to the moon as well. In a way, I'm glad I feel this way, because, let's face it, this is Bethesda, the game is going to have plenty of glitches and bugs and silly shit going on. But really, I fucking loved both Oblivion and Fallout 3. And look at the kind of improvements that happened from Oblivion to Fallout 3, now it's going to happen again!

And also I no longer feel like that. Last couple days, I've become more hyped as well, and now I feel like I can't wait !
I really hope stores won't run out of copies, I'd hate to not get it because they ran out -.-

There's also plenty of spoilerific things out there, videos and such, because the Xbox 360 version was leaked. I've watched some of it. It's good :3

      EDIT:

I'm really disappointed right now. I guess the game isn't meant to be played on PC? The mouse moves really slowly. At first I thought it was because my character was supposed to be weak and slow-moving, but after playing a while I don't think so. I don't think I can play this unless I figure out how to make the mouse move like it does in Oblivion. It moves really slowly now and seems to decelerate unnaturally at the wrong times. Changing the sensitivity (in-game) up doesn't do what I want it to, it doesn't get rid of the annoying deceleration problem. It's nearly impossible to play because of this. In the game, it takes my mouse about 4 trips across the mouse pad just to look all the way upward. This is ridiculous. I guess I'll try tomorrow to change mouse sensitivity stuff.

I was so excited about this, the reviews were only positive. At least I won't be staying up all night now.

Don't worry, I didn't either. I drank all day...bought the game at 12:01 and stayed in chat for about two hours, and finally popped in the game. I spent enough time to name my character and passed the eff out. Oh well, that means I get an early jump today.

I read something about people having mouse sensitivity problems. I know there's a fix for it somewhere...
For now, I'll see if I get the same problems. Also just quickly scanned for a fix, as I know that I've seen people talking about it.

      Disabling mouse smoothing/acceleration

Mouse acceleration can be more frustrating than helpful, and there’s no in-game option to disable it.

Go to your Steam Directory -> steamapps -> common -> skyrim -> Skyrim
Create a backup of the SkyrimPrefs.ini file
Open the file, then scroll down to where it says [Controls] and find bMouseAcceleration=1
      Change to bMouseAcceleration=0
      Save, exit, and play

I was pretty unimpressed with Oblivion's braindead combat and this game doesn't look meaningfully different from Oblivion to me.

I want this so badly, but I seriously doubt my laptop can run it. Luckily it's also out on the PS3, but that means I can only play it at home. Ah well, still getting it. =D

I agree with this. Elder Scrolls makes great RPGs but not very good FPS combat systems

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

It's fixed a bit but still pretty bad. It's frustrating to play, and I don't think I'll play again until they come up with a patch or someone makes a mod or I find some other way to fix it. Even with the deceleration off and the other mouse lagging solution applied, the game lags in responding to the mouse. The movement is smooth, but the game doesn't respond quickly enough. So say I need to look to the left, then back to the right. I have to move to the left, wait a moment for the screen to finish moving, then move to the right. I can't even enjoy looking around and exploring. It's agonizing to try to turn a corner.

Maybe my system just can't handle it, although I thought it could. It runs Oblivion and every other game I've tried fine. And the rest of the game doesn't seem to lag, just the mouse.

Another problem is the y-axis (up-down) movement for looking around is extremely slow, like 5x as slow as the x-movement.

Why do all these problems exist? They're extremely basic game-play issues that disable the player from enjoying anything else they worked hard on. You'd think they'd have run into the problem right away while testing it and fixed it before release. The Oblivion mouse movements were perfect. I wish there was an option to make it exactly like it was in Oblivion. Hopefully in a mod.

      So it worked? :3
Glad I could help if it did. Personally I still feel the mouse controls is somewhat weird, not too bad but just... Weird. Moves slower when looking up and down than when you look to the sides.

And I'm getting random lag every now and then. When I enter or leave a building, sometimes the game just goes into extreme under-10-FPS-mode until I restart the game... And in one dungeon, there was one tiny area that my computer couldnt handle, so whenever I looked in the direction of that little area, I'd get an insane FPS drop. Urgh~

      EDIT:
      Just saw your new post...
Eugh, yeah. Well, the issue about delay I don't have, but the y-axis movement being slower I do have. It's strange. Actually I think there's quite a few strange things about the controls that are not so good. The UI being a bitch to navigate (How the fuck do I navigate the perks? ._ .) and the camera moves in strange ways. Nyeh.

Aye, it never really was that exciting was it... Well, Skyrim has improved it a bit. Not much, but a bit. To me, Oblivion was a bad game in many ways, buggy, glitchy, weird mechanics and the melee combat being not so exciting. But it was also always a really really awesome game, probably one of the best I've played. So to me, if those things made you not want to play Oblivion, those same things are probably going to make you not want to play Skyrim as well.
But then again, the combat has improved (as far as I know), and a lot of other things have as well. Graphics, lots more voices, way cooler dungeons and what not.

So far this game has been really awesome for me, (barring technical issues and the weird UI) I was actually expecting it to be more like Oblivion than it is.
