Ah-hah-hah, that was too funny. Somehow, my snort-like sounds of giggling to myself made it into the video. Weird.
The shit that happened to me in the past hour or so has been fucking awesome.

      In Riverwood,
Spoiler for Uhm, not a real spoiler but it's cooler if you see it yourself...:

Minutes later, just outside town, I was battling a tiger thing and a wolf... In the middle of a waterfall/river, half river rafting, half jumping from cliff to cliff while healing.

      EDIT:
This has probably been answered but... I notice that the Y axis moves much slower than the X axis, how can I make the sensitivities the same? Kind of annoying dragging my hand across the desk to look at the sky.
      Pause -> Settings -> Gameplay -> 360 Controller
Turn it off and you are good to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have not tested this yet, had no idea the 360 controller setting was on... When I wrote my last post, I thought about putting in that overused term, "console port". Maybe it is relevant after all? ._ .

Level 9 Argonian.....back to the mancave I go; dealing with the likes of you fools seems arbitrary at this point, as I'm usually talking to myself in here anyway.

I'll take storyline over combat any day when it comes to RPGs. The AI has improved, so you're not just fighting some clown who runs directly at your face all the time. It also depends on what type of combat you're referring to. There's only so many ways you can swing a sword at someone before you turn the game into soul caliber. Maybe you should try making a magic user or get your archery on.

But it was also always a really really awesome game, probably one of the best I've played. So to me, if those things made you not want to play Oblivion, those same things are probably going to make you not want to play Skyrim as well.
But then again, the combat has improved (as far as I know), and a lot of other things have as well. Graphics, lots more voices, way cooler dungeons and what not.
That's too bad because I actually really like the concept. Open-ended style without set classes is definitely something I'm in favour of.

True enough it's just that I like it when the combat is about positioning and has some in-depth defensive elements, too, where in Oblivion it was pretty flat and usually boiled down to just about trading blows. Something more like Vindictus where it's very action game-y and skill oriented is what I'd like to see in these kind of games.

Yeah I love Elder Scrolls open ended RPG style. I had a blast in Morrowind. Oblivion was a step down to me but Fallout 3 basically upheld all the expectations that oblivion failed on. In all three games combat was a disappointment, least of all in fallout which was more like a straight FPS. I'm not only interested in combat but it really hurts the game if the battles don't run smoothly. They don't have to be easy or anything but fighting has always been very awkward in bethesda games.

Granted most FPS dont try to handle full fledged melee combat. Age of Chivalry did pretty well though.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I still have the mouse problems, but I have played a bit anyway.

I'm playing as my usual default the first time through - a female high elf mage. I've also decided to be 'good'. I won't break into anywhere that isn't necessary for the main quests, I won't steal, etc.

Right now I'm finding some merchant his golden tooth that was stolen, and ended up in a creepy spider cave with webbing everywhere that you have to cut through. That itself was way cooler than the average Oblivion quest. I found a guy trapped in spider webbing and killed a giant spider.

The mouse problem is still pretty annoying though. It makes it difficult to aim spells because by the time I've moved my cursor to the guy, he's moved too.

I would say it was hugely disappointing, but that would require me to have expectations to begin with. Several months ago when Todd Howard said that they took lessons learned from Fallout and incorporated them into Skyrim, I knew it would be a pile of shit. And I was right. I'm really glad I only pirated it and I didn't actually spend $60 on this crap.

Why exactly did you not like it...? As someone who is seriously considering buying this game, "this game sucks" doesn't really help me make up my mind.

This game is the best use of money I've spent on a game in along while. (up there with minecraft, killing floor, oblivion) Logged like 20 hours so far and I've hardly scratched the surface. I'll explain a little what the game is like. The game is around 25 square km, so it takes around 2 irl hours to walk from one side to the other. Not that you have to do that, you can spend a little coin to hire a horse taxi, or buy/rent a horse to ride yourself, and once youve visited a city or location once you can fast travel via your map. Also walking across such a large area isn't simply barren, theres tons and tons of unique dungeons in the game (~200), as well as chance encounters with fellow travelers, wildlife, thieves, vampires, as well as the (some scripted, some random) encounters and battles with dragons.

The scenery in the game is phenomenal, the mountains are breathtaking and the mood of skyrim is really captured well. I'll upload some pics later. The cities are all unique and awesome, and as soon as you walk in a city you are greeted with a large population of people all going about their lives. Each person has a daily schedules, they interact and go about their day. Just walking around a city occasionally chatting with random citizens you can attain like 50 side quests, and they aren't like mmo side quests in that they are tedious tasks like chopping wood; they are well thought out adventures that sometimes blossom into massive quests. Theres the various guilds you can join (Compainions, Mages College, thieves guild, Dark brotherhood) that all have interesting tasks as you rise through their ranks (at least like 5 hours apiece). Then theres the main quest, a massive epic which I haven't really had more than 2 hours at yet so I can't speak on it's behalf. Everything you do adds to the game, and it really becomes your own game, the more you use certain skills the better you become, and you can also advance skills that you like when you level by choosing perks from a tree for each talent. Theres a large variety of races to choose from, each with their own special ability. The scope of the game is massive, and I guess that is one of its putting off points for some people- they say that it lacks direction. Personally, I dislike linear games where absolutely everything is scripted and everyone who plays it has the same experience, but thats just me. Also some people don't like collecting various trinkets and enchanting their weapons stats and whatnot, they just like to run around shooting people.

So if you want a long, rewarding adventure filled with choices and various storylines, this game is for you. If you prefer a little less thoughtless and 'thrilling' expirience, you might want to go for something like cod.

Mine meet the minimum requirements, but fall a bit short of the recommended ones. I only have 2 GB of RAM and Core 2 Duo. Maybe it has something to do with my video card though. I'm ignorant about those and don't really know how to tell if mine is good enough, but thought I had a good one. (NVIDIA GeForce 9400).

BTW I've been noticing that the game itself is slightly laggy too. I thought it was only the mouse at first, but I've realized it's more. It almost seems like the framerate is low, most noticeably while I'm walking, but it's probably just lag.

Even with my lag issues I can tell this is an amazing game. I suppose it's subjective, but for most people it will probably be worth buying. I find it's very similar to Oblivion but better, so if you liked that you'll like this. If anyone is considering buying it, watch some reviews and gameplay videos on youtube.

It's Fallout 3 in a different setting. I'm not sure how I can make it more precise than that.

Aside from the ending and the combat, Fall-out 3 was a really nice game.

Except for the massively improved graphics and the improved skill/leveling system. It takes perks from Fallout 3 which worked well and they added those VATS-like finishing moves that really add some cool feel to the combat.
Other then that, yeah, it's a lot like Oblivion and Fallout in a different setting. But have you looked at how drastically different the setting is?

I very much disagree that it's just like Fallout 3, exactly as Fallout 3 isn't just like Oblivion. There are many similarities, and there are some improvements. But overall, I think there's one truth here, and that is if you really hated Fallout 3 for some reason, then you're not going to like this either. But I have no idea why you would dislike Fallout 3.
Both Fallout 3 and the Elder Scrolls are a lot about the world and the quests and less about combat. I really loved the worlds in Oblivion and Fallout 3, and Skyrim is just as interesting to me, and I'm not even halfway through it yet. It's about seeing the areas, exploring the dungeons, seeing the cities, talking to the folks and hearing the stories. Shooting things in Fallout 3 is a side-effect, just like combat is a side-effect in Oblivion. And honestly, after I got the grip of it, Skyrim's combat is actually pretty damn engaging to me.

The hotkey system is a bit clunky in some ways, for example if you equip a sword, you can hit and block. If you then equip a spell, you lose the ability to block. Normally, if you press the hotkey again, you will unequip, but with spells you'll just equip it in the other hand aswell. So that means if you equip a spell, you cant block unless you open up the menus or use a work around. (Quickly equip and unequip a shield with a hotkey)
But as of now, I use two conjured swords, sometimes a non-conjured sword in one hand. There's a lot of spamming swords while downing litres of potion, and it's engaging enough to me. And even then, that's not always. Sometimes I run back, look for cover, use a bow and arrow, switch to spells, heal, hide and whatever else there is.

This game has some problems. Mainly technical ones at the moment. Yes it is another one of Bethesda's open world RPG games, except improved. Also, dragons.

Spoiler for A downed dragon, is a dead dragon:

I fucking love conjured weapons, they look so boss.

Yeah uhhh, don`t get a gaming laptop. For the same price I can custom build you a desktop PC that will absolutely destroy your laptop in performance, like easily double it. Laptops will croak after a year or two, as gaming really puts a strain on GPUs and CPUs, not to mention the PSUs in laptops are naturally made for less wattage to be pushed through, the laptop is going to get really, really hot because its in such a confined space. If you want to upgrade your graphics card or processor in a couple years, get a custom build PC as you can't with a laptop. Unless of course you travel on planes or something constantly.

For people wondering if they can run the game, check out this, it tests your computer and gives you a basic estimate to see if your rig is up to snuff. Keep in mind that it still might work/not work if this says it will. I'm fairly sure that most people will be able to 'run' the game, ie. turning everything to low, no anti aliasing, all distance sliders min, you should get a half decent frame rate.
